With a bit of prep, anyone can become a sex toy reviewer for Lovehoney. The main thing is that you’re genuinely interested in writing helpful reviews about your personal experiences with our toys. That said, we carefully select testers based on how well they write reviews.

So, if you want to be a sex toy tester, you need to start by reviewing the products you already own – just check out the simple steps below.

What items can be reviewed?

Every week, we’ll select items from our huge range of adult products — which includes anything from cock rings to dildos. And it’s not just sex toys we send out for testing. We also need reviews for lingerie, bondage, lubricants, you name it; pretty much anything that we have, or will have, can pop up for testing.

How to become a sex toy tester for Lovehoney

Everything you need to know about becoming a Lovehoney sex toy tester is on the Lovehoney Forum. You also need a Forum account to get selected. But, before you head there, check out these simple steps for getting started.

1. Write a review for products you already own

The first step is to write some reviews for the Lovehoney items you already own. This helps us get an idea of your writing style, so we can be sure your reviews will add value for future customers. But that doesn't mean everything you say has to be positive.

We’re looking for well-written, honest reviews that offer real insights about the toy and your experience using it. Quality is key. We’d rather you wrote a handful of thoughtful reviews than 20 one-liners.

Here’s a guide to writing amazing reviews.

We won’t consider reviews written for other sites (Amazon, Google, etc.) but you can review any item we have on the Lovehoney site. That means everything from condoms to vibrators, even if you didn’t buy them directly from us. For example, We-Vibe, Womanizer, and ROMP are all part of the Lovehoney family. So, you can review their items on our site and still be considered.

All you need to do is log in or sign up to the Lovehoney shopping site, search for the item, and click ‘Write a review’.

2. Keep your contact details up to date

When you’re signed up to Lovehoney, you’ll be able to access your profile and edit your shipping address there. Make sure your current address is set to default, as this is where we’ll send items for you to review. We wouldn’t want you to miss that special package! We ship using very discreet packaging, so you won’t get any raised eyebrows.

3. Sign up to the Lovehoney forum

Now it’s time to check out which items we have for review and get volunteering. Go to the Lovehoney Forum and click ‘Create account’. Use the same email you’ve already used to write reviews on Lovehoney — otherwise we won’t know it’s you!

Next, head to the Testers category and set it to ‘Watching’. That way, you’ll get a notification every time new products become available to test. You can also check out the Tester's Chit-Chat thread, where a community of testers is on hand to answer any questions you might have.

4. Vote for the items you want to review

When items are available to review, we’ll bundle them up into a topic thread (usually called the ‘Testers List’) on the Forum. All you need to do is read the info and vote for every item you’d like to review.

The Testers category will be updated weekly with all the products available for testing. Typically, these items are already available on the Lovehoney shopping site and are known as ‘Regular testers’.

In time, you may get selected to feedback on items that aren’t available on the site yet – these are known as ‘Secret testers’. These super special, pre-launch items are still very hush-hush, so you can’t discuss them publicly anywhere (not even on the Forum).

If you’re a new product tester, you’re more likely to get chosen to review sex toys from the ‘Regular testers’ list. For the best chance of being selected, start there before you check out ‘Secret testers’.

5. Send us your measurements

It’s not all adult toys and lubes, mind you! You may also be asked to review lingerie, but you’ll need to provide your measurements to be considered. Check out the testing guide to find out how to submit your measurements.

6. Keep an eye on your emails

You’ll get an email as soon as your free products have been dispatched. We’ll ship your items soon as possible, although sometimes samples won’t be ready yet (we’ll always mention this in the tester thread). If the samples aren’t ready, you can still expect to get them within a month. Shipping is on us, of course.

7. Play with your free toy

When your package arrives, it’s time to enjoy the perks of being a sex toy tester. Take your time, get to know all the settings, try it out in as many scenarios as you wish. So long as you submit your review within the deadline, you keep your toy for free!

When you’re ready, write your review on the Lovehoney site (remember to log in using the same email address you’ve used for your Forum account). If you’re trying out a Secret tester, we’ll send you a link to submit your review.

8. Keep writing reviews

Keep writing reviews on the Lovehoney shopping site to show us you’re still interested in being a tester. We’re looking for a bit more detail than “it was great”, but it doesn’t have to be a lengthy epic... unless you want it to be!

The most helpful reviews contain information which isn’t in the product description; how it felt to hold the item, what the quality is like, how strong its vibrations were. Remember, we’re looking for honest feedback, so please do tell us everything you like about the toy and anything you think could be improved.
