Crowned Jewels Shaftsbury Double Ended Aluminium Dildo (C Curve)

I purchased the Shaftsbury several months ago as an early birthday present to myself. This was actually my first metal toy and I've gone on to get three more since, which kind of shows how easy it is to fall in love with this material. I'm a huge fan of glass, so this wasn't much of a step and although it's a more extensive step, it's one that's so worth it.

The Shaftsbury arrived in a wax-sealed tube container, which is some of the classiest, most luxurious packaging that I've ever experienced. It's almost so nice that you don't want to open it. Almost. I removed the wax seal and found the dildo wrapped inside some black tissue paper alongside a branded storage pouch and a small leaflet. It doesn't give any directions for use or cleaning instructions, it's simply a photography booklet of their inventory.

When I held the Shaftsbury for the first time, I checked for any signs of imperfections within the material and I'm pleased to say that I couldn't find any. This toy is excellently made and finished to an extremely high standard. I cannot fault Crowned Jewels in terms of their quality control at all. This is actually where they excel. I was extremely pleased with the toy that I received and I also have a couple more of their toys now that have maintained this same standard.

Their dildos have all been lighter than I anticipated, which makes them comfortable for long-term use and I would definitely advise you to consider this brand instead of njoy if weight is something you struggle with due to weak wrists or a disability. I personally have the former and I find this toy much easier to use than the pure wand.

As the Shaftsbury is made with aluminium, any type of lubricant can be used with it, be that water-based, silicone or hybrid. I generally prefer to use water-based lubricant when I'm using this in the bedroom to avoid any sheet staining, but I will switch to silicone lubricant if I'm using this toy in the bath. I haven't and won't use this in the shower as I imagine dropping it on your foot would be extremely painful. I have often found that I don't actually need to use any additional lubricant with toys like this as the material glides pretty easily with just natural lubrication. After use, I spritz the toy with cleaner and rinse thoroughly although it's impossible to remove all of those pesky fingerprints that this material picks up.

If the weight (slightly heavier than glass) and the firmness isn't enough to make this toy so divine, remember they offer up the chance to explore temperature play, which just so happens to be one of my favourite things to do in the bedroom. The Shaftsbury can be warmed up or chilled, although warming is something I haven't really experimented with much as I prefer my dildos cold. It can be placed in a bowl of warm or cold water for twenty minutes to create your desired temperature or it can be placed in the fridge for an extra chill.

When I inserted the toy for the first time, I immediately noticed that it felt more intense than chilled glass does and it seemed to hold the temperature so much better. I've often experienced glass toys warming up to body temperature before I've finished using them, but aluminium seems to hold its temperature so beautifully.

In my experience, the smooth end is absolutely perfect for vaginal and in particular, g-spot stimulation. It has a fantastic curve that is perfectly angled and this meant it could find my G-spot very quickly, so fast thrusting pretty much sealed the deal within minutes. It was almost effortless and I'm able to have multiple orgasms when using this end of the toy in this way, which is more than can be said for the pure wand, as I have to be done after one orgasm due to the weight of it.

The other end with four raised bulbs has proved to be the best for anal stimulation. I was a little surprised at the size of the dildo, it certainly is narrower than some of my glass toys, but it was definitely not a lightweight.

Upon opening, the Crown Jewel Shaftsbury cylindrical tube was nestled in with scrunched brown paper to keep it from being thrown around during delivery. Unwrapping the toy, my first impression was how petite it is. I'd checked out the dimensions on the product page before it arrived but even then I was still surprised by how slim it is, and if I'm honest, a little disappointed at first. Generally I am more into toys with a larger girth and was a little concerned that the Shaftsbury would be a spectacular failure for me.

The Shaftsbury is not my first metal sex toy - I also own an aluminium and a steel Rosebud butt plug and the Njoy Pure Wand which is stainless steel. When I first handled the Shaftsbury I couldn't help but compare its weight and quality to my Njoy toy. The aluminium is so much lighter, more comparable to your average glass dildo. Next to the Njoy, it almost feels hollow (but as far as I am aware, it is in fact solid aluminium).

While the Shaftsbury is a beautiful toy, the finish on it (while perfectly smooth) isn't quite as mirror perfect as Njoy's steel. When held up in some lights it almost looks covered in teeny, super fine scratches, a bit like metal cutlery that's been through the dishwasher a few times. The Shaftsbury is also a slightly duller shade of silver, though that's just an observation not a complaint.

The Shaftsbury is a double-ended dildo, making it capable of producing a variety of sensations. One end has a bulbous tip and smooth shaft while the other has a defined head followed by two smaller 'bloops'.

Despite it's petite stature that worried me initially, I did end up enjoying the Shaftsbury rather a lot. It's curve, bulbous heads and how firm the material is, it targets my G-spot perfectly, which is always nice! Owing to the smoothness of the metal I find I only need the tiniest bit of lube to help slide the toy in position comfortably. I personally prefer using the smooth end vaginally as it is just an all-round smoother and more comfortable ride! I like to be able to wield smaller toys with a lot of force and the bloopy end just made that a little bit uncomfortable at times. I can just about orgasm using just this dildo alone, but find it much better with additional clitoral stimulation.

One small issue I had with the Shaftsbury was once inserted, there isn't that much to hold onto. I often struggle to reach smaller toys due to having weird bodily proportion issues, and the Shaftsbury was awkward to reach in most positions. Luckily, I have a more than willing partner to assist with these things, so that's that problem solved!

While I wouldn't personally recommend using it this way without having someone else around to hold onto it, the Shaftsbury's size really lends itself to anal play. I love metal and glass anal toys as I find them so much more comfortable to insert and once in place they just feel great. If this is what you'd primarily like to use this toy for, definitely don't use it alone (unless you're confident you can hold onto it the whole time) as it doesn't really have a prominent enough base or ridge to stop it accidentally going... too far. Just something to bear in mind!

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this little toy. It would be ideal for people who prefer smaller insertables, people who like weightier, very firm toys and those who like the option of a little texture. I wouldn't recommend it for people who like a lot of girth or have reach issues.
