Please do not judge this toy by its name. It may not have been the wisest choice of names, but the designers are German, and besides, who cares? Once you place this baby against your clit, believe me, you won’t care.

The Womanizer is a non-penetrative toy to be used for clitoral stimulation. I find that it gives a wee bit of stim to nipples or labia but not enough to warrant much use there for me.

This beautiful toy is elegantly packaged so it would certainly make a very lovely gift. I saved the box as it’s very sturdy and well made and pretty. I use it to store other less-used sex toys. Not the Womanizer, though! My Womanizer took a privileged place in the top drawer of my nightstand as my all-time favourite, number one, most reliable, go-to toy.

The Womanizer fits your hand just right. It’s soft and smooth and doesn’t look like a sex toy very much, which is kind of cool. I love the bad-a** design of mine - black with skulls! It has a big Swarovski jewel as the on/off button, which has gotten a lot of negative reviews as well. It is true that it’s a bit hard to turn on as you must press the big jewel and the ridges kind of dig into your finger but, at the same time, this also avoids it from spontaneously turning on with ease in your luggage/bag/purse, so it’s not a big deal to me. My W500 came with a nice black satin pouch which also fits the extra nozzle head and the USB charging cord. The Womanizer W500 charges in 120 minutes and lasts 240 minutes. That is a long time so it doesn’t need recharging very often at all.

To turn-on (you as well as the toy), press hard on the raised jewel. You will hear a soft purr or whirr (oh, how delightful German engineering and design are!) and the soft silicone head will light up — which is a neat feature and helps you to see enough in the dark to spread your labia and place the hole over your clitoris. The Womanizer also comes with an additional XL silicone head to adapt to different body shapes.

The Womanizer is the original toy with this revolutionary Pleasure Air Technology, as they call it. Some call it a “suction" toy but it doesn’t really apply full-out suction. If you put your finger over the hole of the silicone head of the toy, it very gently holds it. It is a most delightful and unique sensation, kind of a pitter-patter, the most rumbly pitter-patter flutter you could ever imagine. The Womanizer does not vibrate. It does not actually touch your clitoris; pulsating waves of air puff and gently pull against it.

The W500 has 8 intensities (no patterns) and there’s a very easy to operate long button with + and -. Press the + and it increases the strength of the pitter-patter. Press the - and it decreases. I have probably orgasmed on all of the intensities. One cool thing is if I work my way up to the most intense setting (8), I can then hit the big jewel and it will immediately take it back to the lowest setting and bam, that’s when I orgasm. But I am sure every woman is different. Settings 3 and 4 are utterly delightful and I can play there for a very long time.

Although the W500 is not waterproof, I don’t mind as I have a shower stall and not a bathtub anyway. The Womanizer’s newer models are waterproof, though, and that probably makes for easier cleaning (as well as nice baths!). As it is with mine, I just remove the silicone head and wash it with soap and water so it’s still very easy and feels perfectly hygienic. You can buy replacement heads but in 18 months of constant use, mine is still fine.

The Womanizer is quiet when held against your body although when pulled away the sound it makes can be a bit loud -- similar to the rumbly sound of an old 50s Chevy idling at a red light. (Stop right now for a moment, if you will, and imagine that, that slow, deep rumble against your parts! UNF!)

When comparing to the Lelo Sona, I found the pulsations of the Sona (I got the regular, non-Cruise model) to be too high-pitched, buzzy for me. The Sona’s lowest setting was more intense than the Womanizer's highest and I need a build-up.
