    1. Emmeline From Coco de Mer - Pleasure in your Palm

Reviewed: 04 April 2016 by Foxxy, a Straight Engaged Female

Who’d have thought I’d be sitting here writing about a brown sex toy? I certainly never did! Brown anything has never been at the top of my ‘sexy must haves’ list, it’s not a colour I find overly appealing, but I have to say, I’ve been really surprised by the Emmeline Pleasure Wand from the Coco de Mer range!

Right, the Emmeline Wand. Let’s get this straight out of the way to start with, it’s not a wand. Calling this a wand, is like calling a Jaffa Cake a biscuit, in my opinion (no, they’re not biscuits, the clue is in the name!). There seems to be a few toys at the moment, that are branding themselves to be wands, but I’m not a fan. People already have an image in their minds of what a wand should be in the world of sex toys, and what they should expect from it, and if you’re looking at Emmeline in that way you’ll be disappointed. It’s a vibrator, a very lovely one, but a vibrator nonetheless.

For me, there are three different categories that sex toys fall into. You have the budget, or entry level options, which have very simplistic packaging. Mid-range toys, which generally come better presented, often with storage bags and the like. And then the luxury products, which offer the consumer an all-round experience, from the moment they set eyes on the box. This range from Coco de Mer plonks itself right at the top of the luxury market, and quite rightly so. The packaging, the overall finish, and the included, gorgeous storage case are all part of the deal. No denying you pay for it, but if you’re the kind of person who delights in treating yourself to something luxurious, you may well fall head over heels for this line.

Once inside the lovely outer box, you’re greeted with a brown leather, zip up storage case. It opens a bit like pencil cases that you can buy, with the top couple of inches zipping open to expose your new delight. You also get an instruction book, and a charging cable, which is in a clear bag, at the bottom of the box. All of this range features a painting of a woman on the book, in this case Emmeline. I’m presuming it’s Emmeline Pankhurst, a British political leader, but I can’t find this confirmed anywhere. It seems a bit random actually, but there you go!

The vibrator sits neatly inside a foam pad in the case. The hole for it is off centre, and I’m not sure why they didn’t cut another hole in the other side, for you to store the cable in, instead of just throwing it in the bottom of the box. Still, it’s something you could easily do yourself, and the foam keeps your toy safe, and ready to go, every time you unzip. It's brilliant for traveling with, it's a very discreet case.

The toy itself is a really beautiful thing to behold. The chocolate shade of brown goes so well with the copper coloured band at the top of the handle, and the silicone coating is silky soft to the touch. A Coco de Mer written logo adorns the handle, along with three buttons, a plus, a minus, and one with the Coco de Mer symbol on. It’s simple to operate, the logo button changes between the five vibration patterns and one constant setting, and the others control the intensity of each of the modes.

Before you dive straight in with playing though, you’ll need to give Emmeline a good charge. I really like where the charging port is located on this toy, you simply unscrew the handle to expose the charging socket. It’s neat and functional. An hour’s charge will give you 90 minutes of play, so plenty of time for you and Emmeline to get acquainted with each other.

Emmeline is waterproof, and the instructions tell you to make sure the handle is screwed on properly to create a seal. In reality, you can only screw it to the point of closed, then it stops. If you have any dexterity issues, this means it’s never going to be on too tightly, so you’ll never have a problem charging your toy. Unfortunately though, this means it’s incredibly easy to knock and start to unscrew when you’re cleaning it, so care needs to be taken. I have used this in water, and it’s been fine, but I have found water inside the first thread of the screw, when I’ve separated the handle from the main body.

I wasn’t sure what to make of Emmeline when I first turned it on. I think I was a little underwhelmed if I’m honest. I think to go with the luxurious experience, I was expecting bells and whistles and a fanfare or two. In the hand, it felt kind of mid-range, and I crave power! It’s no secret that I’m a power queen, with a love for all things rumbly, so I was a bit disappointed to begin with.

Hush my mouth though! Now, I’m not saying that Emmeline ticks all the boxes for me, but I will say that I honestly believe a lot of people will love it, and get the pleasure they require from it. The vibrations are rumbly, so much so, I can even use Emmeline for body massage, and it feels good. When on my clit, they travel deeply into the internal tissue, making sure that the inner parts of my clitoris are also stimulated. Sure, I’d like a bit more oomph from the engine, but what’s already under the bonnet works, and it works well. I never fail to orgasm clitorally, and I’ve always been left feeling spent and satisfied. It's also not a loud vibrator, a closed door would be all you needed to play in full privacy.

Internally, it takes me to already be aroused in order for me to get much pleasure from Emmeline. When my OH is in charge, I’m well away, but using alone, it feels a little lacking. I think a bit of a larger bulbous end, or a bit of a curve hitting my G-Spot would make all the difference. Just as well they make a G-Spot version, Georgina, isn’t it…

Overall, I think Emmeline is a beautiful toy, that’s beautifully presented. It’s about the full package with this sex toy. Yes, of course you could get a similar type of toy for less money, but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as lovely as this. If you’re someone who likes the decadent, opulent things in life, and you like moderately powerful, rumbly sex toys, it could be a perfect fit for you!

A beautiful high end product. Great for traveling with. Rumbly vibrations.
Potentially too easy to unscrew, water gets into the screw thread.
      Bottom line
A very luxurious, decadent product, for the discerning lady.

I thought I had seen high-end sex toys before. I was wrong. The Emmeline Pleasure Wand introduced me to an even higher tier of luxury toys. Just opening the package was an adventure.

First, the delivery box; super discreet as always. Then a layer of tissue paper, very classy. Up next was the box itself, or so I thought, which was fairly minimalist, having only a few lines of text, an outline of the wand and a picture of a painted woman's eye. Turns out this was only a sleeve over the actual box, which was again fairly minimalist, although there is one side devoted to a painting of a woman in a dress (the eye from before) from the Victorian times. But wait, there's more! Inside the box was a cylindrical leather carry case which wouldn't look out of place amongst designer handbags. The case itself has Coco de Mer embossed on the top and little else in the way of description, I wouldn't feel particularly embarrassed to have someone find this in my bedroom.

The toy itself needs to be unlocked (and possible charged) when you first get it. This is explained in the little booklet (which also has a picture of the woman in pink on it) which covers charging, cleaning, general care, functions and the travel lock.

The controls consist of three buttons, + and - buttons which were self explanatory and the third button which turns the wand on and cycles through the available patterns. It also turns it off with a long press. This setup is really well thought out. Normally, when a toy has vibration patterns, you're stuck with the strength it comes with. On this you can choose about 5 or 6 vibrations strengths for each of the 5 patterns.

The wand is made of that kind of silicone plastic combo which makes it very firm but silky to the touch. It's solid throughout, so you can use it to apply decent pressure wherever you intend. I did have one issue with this design, it doesn't isolate vibrations to the head very well.

It's fully waterproof and very easy to clean.

      Great presentation. Excellent for travelling.
Who is the woman in Pink? Could use more juice.
      Bottom line
      Top Tier Toy.

    1. Emmeline Pleasure Wand

Reviewed: 04 April 2016 by FrozenAngel, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

The moment I received the package I was blown away; I love the attention to detail. I know that some people don’t think the packaging matters – but I do. I’m a huge fan of packaging, to me it’s the presentation of the toy, it’s the company's signature, it says “we care about this product, and what you think of it”.

The wand was presented in a cylindrical leather zip lock clutch. It looked so lovely. The wand itself is made from a dark chocolate brown silicone, and the silicone is incredibly smooth, almost velvet-like.

As it’s a rechargeable wand, you’ll receive a USB charging cable. To charge, simply unscrew the base and plug that into the micro USB charger. This is one of the strangest charging methods that I’ve seen. And I’m still torn as to whether or not I actually like it. On one hand, it’s incredibly discreet, meaning that it didn’t really matter if I had it charging on my office desk (I work from home) or not. On the other hand, I questioned my ability to lose either the base or the head of the wand. Either one of those would be bad.

Initially, I was incredibly excited to see the head of the wand, it’s a lot smaller than other rechargeable wands I have (4.6inches circumference), and since I’m a massive fan of pinpoint stimulation, I was expecting some really good things.

Aesthetically, this is one of the most beautiful vibrators I’ve even seen – both the packaging and the product (looks) are perfect. However, for me that’s about as good as it gets.

The vibrations are strong; they remind me a lot of the vibrations in the FSOG wand. There are continuous vibrations and patterned, though I don’t really use patterned vibrations as they don’t do anything for me. I found the buttons were quite stiff, and could be a bit of a pain to switch between settings.

Even though the wand is powerful, I found the vibrations quite buzzy, and mostly they were all in the handle. I found this incredibly off-putting when in use, since my hand would go tingly and numb. To counteract this, I ended up holding the vibrator with a towel, which honestly isn’t ideal.

With the towel placed over the end of the vibrator, I found it a much more pleasurable experience, and the smaller head is great for clitoral vibrations. It did, however, take quite a long time for me to climax using this one. The vibrations are quite strong, but I found them too buzzy and irritating with prolonged use.

I found that I much preferred using the wand internally, the straight shaft is great for A-spot stimulation, though again, for me, the buzzy vibrations let it down, and most of the time I opted to use it with the vibrations off.

The wand is beautiful, and even though it’s powerful, I find that the vibrations just aren’t that great. It’s a good wand, but personally, I don’t believe it’s worth the price tag that it currently has. There are rechargeable wands out there with similar buzzy vibrations (FSOG wand), albeit larger heads with a much lower price tag.

It's beautiful, gorgeous silicone and the packaging is amazing.
The vibrations are too buzzy, buttons are stiff. I found it pretty meh.
      Bottom line
      Not worth the price tag.
