    1. Deep, rumbly and very powerful

Reviewed: 15 October 2014 by Peitho, a Straight Going Steady Female

The ROCKBOX 2 is not your average sex toy, it’s described as a “Pleasure Power Tool” and it’s packaged and described as such.

It comes in a cardboard box that looks like power tool packaging rather than sex toy packaging. If you left it out somewhere people would have to look very closely to see it wasn’t standard DIY equipment storage. I’m keeping the box to store all the parts in, but if you want to recycle it you can do so without embarrassment.

Inside, you get your new ROCKBOX 2 unit, the Hot Chick attachment, the Master Blaster attachment, a 6m cable, a plug adapter for EU sockets and an instruction manual with pictures of all the components and basic but very clear instructions on how to use them. Like the packaging, the manual is very power tool-like - there are more warnings and safety instructions than anything else, which is slightly alarming at first.

The general feel of the ROCKBOX 2 is pretty good. It’s quite weighty. but the handle sits comfortably in your hand with the power button and vibration speed scroll wheel easily accessible single handedly.

The attachments are both made of TPE plastic which feels fine, but I do feel on a high price luxury product like this pure silicone attachments would be better. The attachments are, however, very easy to attach and remove from the ROCKBOX 2, and stay perfectly in place. The overall design for ease of use, is excellent.

Having read the reviews for the previous version of the ROCKBOX the two main complaints seemed to be that it had a kettle cable plug, which vibrated itself out of the unit. This has been fixed; it now has a 90° DC plug with a cable clip to keep it securely in place.

The second complaint was that the wheel for controlling the strength of vibration was a clicking scroll wheel with number settings and was very stiff, this has also been fixed as the continuous dial it now had is very smooth to turn.

Once turned on the motor idles, and is immediately audible. However, it takes about a quarter turn of the vibration speed dial for the motor to properly kick in and the vibrations to start. When it does the volume is immediately apparent, this is not a tool for a house where you don’t want to be overheard.

Used solo, the shape of the female attachment is perfect for me, it cups, caresses and presses on everything perfectly. Lying back and holding it by the handle was nice, but my hand vibrates a lot, which I don’t especially like. And though, yes they’re powerful vibrations, I found I needed to press the main body of the ROCKBOX 2 into me to get the deep feeling of the vibration, so definitely a two handed operation.

I tried it a different way with the ROCKBOX 2 on the bed with the attachment facing up and rode it instead, and OMG, brilliant! You can grind it like you do your partner and the vibrations are so, so deep. They’re focussed where it counts, but you can feel them travelling all through your body - this felt incredible and got me off far quicker than usual. Used this way though, I’d have to say this is not suitable for foreplay, it’s the main event and I was left a bit numb down below afterwards.

As to the strength, I like powerful vibes and I have tested the full range of this tool, but starting low and going to a bit over half way definitely works best for me. The most powerful setting tends to numb rather than arouse, but, for me, the mid settings are wonderful. I don’t think anyone will find this short of power!

Used as a couple, well, it’s not a quick fun toy to pull out on a whim. I would say it’s more of a serious tool for an intense theme night. If you want to indulge in a night of restraints and domination I think this could be a very useful addition, but working out the best technique for each of you is probably not a bad idea first.

When I came to use this on my other half, it didn’t exactly feel like a sexy experience. I felt like I was taking a power sander to him and really didn’t know how hard to press and was also unsure on how exactly to use the male attachment. I will be interested to read reviews from the male point of view to achieve the best results, and further experimentation will go on here.

I don’t think this tool (I can’t call this a toy!) will be a regular contributor to our sex lives, but for the odd bondage theme evening in it can definitely make an impact.

If you’re a lover of power and don’t need to worry about being overheard, I think you should buy this. Once you’ve found the technique for using it that works for you, you won't be disappointed, but allow the time to find the best way for you.

    2. Overall Rating
      9 out of 10 stars
Deep, powerful vibrations that are a joy to ride.
Very loud, and I need a little help to use the male attachment well.
      Bottom line
Great very powerful tool once you find the settings and position that work for you.
