    1. Devils Food Body Butter is delicious!

Reviewed: 08 March 2011 by carousel

About a month ago I bought the Angel Food version of this Kissable Body Butter by Cake. I swore that come payday I'd be back for second helpings and I managed to bag the Devils Food version - the others had sold out and I'm not suprised!

Having already fallen in love with the Angel Food butter, I wondered if this one would be much different. There's a different pin-up girl on the tin, but otherwise it's packaged much the same.

The colour is fairly neutral - just a slight tint, hinting at it's chocolatey inspiration. The smell of the Devils Food butter is rich and gorgeous, and my Husband and I thought it smelt like Baileys Irish Cream Liquor!

As expected, the body butter melts into my skin like a dream and several hours after application, my Husband enjoyed the taste on my skin.

As before, I couldn't have bought this at full price, but now I've experienced using this body butter, I could see myself splashing out on a tub once in a while as a treat!

    1. Care to try a bite

Reviewed: 16 February 2011 by Booties, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

I also ordered this in the Angel Food variety, as the OH insisted it was his favourite cake... However I shall probably be buying other flavours too!

The packaging is wonderful and retro. Very colourful and classy. It comes in a cardboard box such as you might receive a cupcake in... Inside is the tin (more of a tub actually, which is my only real disappointment) with a screw top lid.

I probably wouldn't have paid the RRP for this, but for a fiver, it's the best thing you could ask for! You get a lot of the product, and it looks gorgeous. The butter is thick and cool and creamy, somewhat like the stuff you would get from The Body Shop, or good quality Cocoa Butter!

The scent of this one in particular is sort of like white chocolate and coconut, but you can definitely smell the rich, buttery sponge in there. Of course, the first thing I did was rub a little on the back of my hand and give it a lick! The flavour is not as strong as I thought it would be, but that's a good thing for me! It tastes kind of like buttercream icing and lingers in your mouth for a moment before moving on. Be warned though, this is not the kind of stuff you should eat from the tin! I imagine if you lick more than a couple of nipples worth, you would end up hating the stuff... Unless you have a particularly sweet tooth of course!

The smell can be a little overpowering. After dabbing some on and going to see my mother, she commented that I smelled like "a Bounty" (the coconut chocolate bar) before I could even get near her. After about an hour of wearing it the smell still hadn't worn off, and I must say I felt like I'd eaten a whole cake to myself! So there you are, use it sparingly!

The actually Body Butter really works, too! I was very surprised to find my skin feeling so soft and smooth afterwards... Definitely kissable!

So! We both love the stuff! Tastes nice, smells good and works as a cosmetic item! Leaves your skin kissably smooth and tasty... But use it sparingly. For kissing, not eating!

Absolutely wonderful if you have a sweet tooth!

    1. A little taste of heaven

Reviewed: 06 February 2011 by carousel

I ordered the Angel Food Kissable Body Butter based on another review. Placed my order at 3pm on Friday and it arrived the next morning. Once again, fantastic service!

The packaging is super-duper, and it stood out amongst the sale products. I will admit, I would never have given this a whirl had it been full price, but seeing it in the sale, I couldn't resist.

I'm a regular user of body butters and have tried all different brands - this was my first 'kissable' body butter and I was sceptical of how good it would actually taste.

Once I'd stopped drooling over the dark haired beauty on the tin, I unscrewed the lid and my senses were excited with a delicious smell and creamy-looking butter - it actually looked soft and almost like a firm cake batter, rather than a synthetic gloop.

It smells sweet, but not over-powering, and reminds me of Angel Delight (that dessert from a packet!) or a really yummy cream cake! Kind of vanillary!

I applied it to my hands and rubbed it - it felt really lovely to use and I scooped out a little more and applied it up my arms! It left my skin feeling soft and sexy and the smell was really pleasant. My Husband liked it and even my dog's noses started twitching!

Given its claim of being 'kissable', I thought I'd better test it out - I gave my arm a little lick and sure enough, it tasted rather nice! I can't say I'd want to consume vast quantities, but should the mood take me, or my Husband, there'd be no problem licking my buttered-up skin again!

I am surprised at just how soft it left my skin and it left me feeling sexy and beautiful. I shall be applying a little each morning before I get dressed.

To be honest, I would struggle to justify spending £11.99 on this body butter (or any beauty product really), but having used it, I can see why it commands that price tag. It is a really lovely product, both in looks as an item to leave out on the side in the bathroom and because of the benefits of the butter itself. If I were to ever indulge on a beauty product, I think this would be the one I'd buy.

Fingers crossed it remains on sale till the end of the month, because I'm curious to try the Devils Food version and I can see myself using this tin up fairly quickly!

I'd have no hesitation in recommending this body butter - it's a real joy to use!

    1. Cannibalism never tasted so sweet

Reviewed: 12 January 2011 by BashfulBabe, a Straight Going Steady Female

When the Cake range of products came to Lovehoney, I was desperate to try them out. Normally, I would assume that products like that don't actually taste or smell of what they say, but instead taste of a synthetic, chemically version of it. But after several people agreed that these products lived up to their promises, it went on the list for when I had some spare cash. Lucky for me, that coincided with the sale, even better! Given my terror of things being too sweet or too rich (I'm an awkward wench, anyone who's met me will attest to that!), I went for the Red Velvet version. I'm currently debating whether or not to get the others in the range, too, just because it's that wonderful. But we shall see on that front, I do need to eat something other than flavoured body butter, sad to say!

      Packaging

Well, it looks the same as it does in the picture. The small box is cute, handy for if you want to wrap it as a gift (I'm still moaning about all the non-cuboid presents I had to wrap for Christmas!), and easy enough to get rid of (recycle!) if you're the lucky recipient. The tub itself surprised me a little. I don't know why, but I'd assumed the tub would be an actual tin, or some form of glass/metal combo, like most beauty products. It's quite a light plastic, with a light tin-ish lid. It's still more than sturdy enough to stand up to getting bopped around the place, but means it's incredibly light, so you can carry it around without feeling too weighed down. The design is indeed very pretty, cute and retro and a little bit funky. It leaves no doubt as to what it's for, but it's nothing shameful, and makes itself out to be incredibly playful, so I'd have no trouble letting my more vanilla friends cast their eyes over it.

      Smell

As soon as I opened the tub, it hit me. The smell is very strong, and quite sweet. It reminded me of a vanilla-coconut-chocolate-spongey kind of sweet, so not overpowering for someone who prefers more woody/spicey scents, and literally made my mouth water. When applied, it lingers for quite a while, and I did get to enjoy one whole evening with my boyfriend sniffing at me and enjoying the delicious smell.

      Taste

Not satisfied with being sniffed, it's also "kissable". This appears to mean that it doesn't have that horrid taste as you'd get if you liked skin that had just been moisturised normally, but not quite "grab yer spoon" style of edibility. I tried myself licking a patch of skin after I'd applied it, and that sweet vanilla-chocolate deliciousness was definitely there. Emboldened by this mild success, I moved on to taste a small lump. Again, very tasty, no after-taste, but my mouth did feel a little dry (is it ironic that a moisturiser dries you out? Alanis Morissette has confused me). Having smeared it onto other more specific body parts and had fun with the taste of it, both my partner and I are big fans of the flavour. Although at one point after he'd been left alone with it, he did mention that there is a slightly unpleasant tang if you eat too much of it, not that he started helping himself to the contents, of course! I won't be using it as icing, but I certainly can't see a reason to worry about how enthusiastic a lover is in lapping it up, until he starts biting chunks of delicious flesh off.

      Buttering Up

Funky cakey goodness aside, this is still a moisturising body butter. On that front, I'm not as enthused. I do have horrifically fussy skin, so it may just be me, but I found it made very little difference to my skin's smoothness. It did, however, absorb quickly and easily, and didn't have any bad reaction (I'm quite sensitive, so especially perfumed/flavoured products can make me itchy or rashy, or just outright sore). It is very smooth and slippery, however, and I did have great fun 'massaging' it into certain parts of the fella! As a fun alternative, or for a night out, it's wonderful, but I couldn't use this in lieu of standard moisturiser products on a daily basis.

Little silly, little seductive, lots of yummy scrummy fun. Now just have to fight the urge to buy out the whole stock!

Smell, taste, texture... all around win, really!
      Cons
Not as moisturising as a regular moisturiser.
      Bottom line
Great for making someone's mouth water, but keep an eye on the tub!

    1. Cake Body Butter - Super Sweet and Super Soft

Reviewed: 10 November 2010 by Wizzie86, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

I was very excited when the Cake Angel Food Body Butter landed on my doorstep! I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed as soon as I saw the packaging. The box and large container are gorgeous. I love the retro design and I think it would make a fab gift for a girly friend (or a male friend who is very in touch with his feminine side...)

If anyone has used the Body Shop Body Butters, this is a very similar consistency. The cream is very thick and deliciously melts straight into your skin. It is very quick and easy to apply so there are no worries if you have to head straight out of the door! Mine had melted in by the time I had grabbed my clothes.

The Angel Food scent is yummy. It is very sickly sweet, which I love but if you are not a fan of very sweet things then I wouldn't recommend this scent to you. My mum, bless her, asked if I had chocolate in the car because it smelt as though it was melting. My work colleagues also noticed the sweet scent hours after I had applied the cream. I cannot explain exactly how it smells although it is like a cross between coconut biscuits, white chocolate and butter icing! As I said - super sweet! I would wear this body butter instead of perfume as the scent lingers all day.

As the tin says "kissable", I had to try some and I must say it tastes pretty good. Definitely kissable! It is not only the taste of the Angel Food butter that makes you so kissable but the marvellous effect that it has on your skin! After using this product once my skin was super soft and smooth, even after I had showered the next day. I love the long lasting effects, which aren't surprising considering all of the wonderful natural ingredients! These include: Shea butter, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Advocado Oil and Aloe Vera. All of these ingredients are wonderfully conditioning, nourishing and moisturising for the skin.

I absolutely love this product. The price is comparable to similar high street products although they lack the yummy scents available at Lovehoney. I would definitely buy this product again and I am now off to buy the lip gloss from the Cake range...

    1. Last-minute let down

Reviewed: 08 March 2011 by Clare Reynolds

I wanted to try this body butter for a long time, especially after trying a friend's tin of Angel Food! Unfortunately by the time I got around to buying they only had the Devil's Food left, so I went with that...

The box and tin are very sweet and pretty, but the stuff inside was a disappointment. It tastes nothing like chocolate or cake, least of all Devil's Food! It tastes very strongly of vodka, if anything, and I didn't like it at all. Upon wearing some and asking others if it smelt nice, they asked if I'd been drinking.

I'm very sad about this as it's now discontinued so I can't get the Angel Food which I know tastes better, having tried some of my friend's.

It's very soft and good as a general body butter - but, in the case of this flavor, only if you don't mind smelling of alcohol!
