Lovehoney Oh! Cherry Lickable Massage Candle 113g

My partner and I bought this product on whim.

Cherry being one of our favourite flavours, we were worried that the taste might be artificial.

The product arrived quickly in discreet packaging.

We were eager to use the product and raced to use it. The smell was divine and the taste did not disappoint. This product will be a common visitor to our shopping basket.

I've always loved wax-play and was looking for something less intimidating to introduce the concept to my partner. I opted for the massage candles since I give pretty good massages anyway and it's turned into a regular bedtime chillout for us both.

First off, the scent says cherry, but I definitely smell cherry bakewell, with that sweet almondy hit. I think it's great and I can still smell it on my partner the next day. He says he can't really smell it if I'm massaging his back, but it's still a nice experience for me (and it means I get to pick the next flavours).

It can take a while for enough oil to collect for a massage, so set it burning while you're still getting ready. The spoon was useful for the first testing drops while he was still nervous, but once you know how it feels the oil is cool enough that you can pour it straight onto the skin from the tin without it being at all uncomfortable.

Some people have said that it leaves the skin sticky, and while I can see how that's the case I will also qualify it by saying you don't need much!

Our first session used a pool of oil just larger than a 50p piece and it was more than enough for a half hour massage of his entire back, plus some over the arms to use it up. The 'stickiness' of the oil means you can massage for a long time without making the skin angry and I'm told it's a very nice feeling.

If it's still a bit slick when you're ready to finish, just spread the remaining oil over more parts of the body to use it up, plus you can use is as a moisturiser for your own hands (but I still recommend washing your hands afterward).

One final thing I will say is that many massage candles say 'melt to the edge of the tin before extinguishing' and that's a good rule to follow! You don't have to use all of the wax you've melted, but just melting a bit at a time causes a big dip in the middle of your tin and uses up the wick, leaving two thirds of the wax unusable. I decided to put my candles in a warm oven for a minute or two to try and level out the surface again. This worked but with more planning wouldn't be necessary.

Absolutely loved this candle. It's my and OH's first time using something like this and just wish I tried earlier than now.

It has a gorgeous smell to it and easy to apply to the body. It isn't too hot, felt great and the massage was amazing. There's a spoon also that comes with it. Tastes nice as well.
