Such a letdown

The System JO 9 VOLT Stimulating Serum for Women 5ml was sent to me as a test product in exchange for an honest review. It arrived very quickly in plain brown packaging. Totally discreet!
The packaging for this product is brilliant! It comes in a black cardboard cover with the company logo and details of the ingredients of the product. When you slide back the cover you are greeted with the cutest little yellow box which reads, "Say hello to your new best friend." Once you open it up, the stimulating serum is nestled inside in a little bottle similar to a bottle of eye drops.
I was blown away by the packaging and couldn't wait to give it a try. Of course, with anything that arrives at my door from Lovehoney, I just can't resist but giving it a sniff! So I opened up the bottle and had a smell, and it's totally driving me insane because I just can't put my finger on what this product smells like.
It's a herbal smell, but also has a slight smell of curry about it in my opinion. If you can imagine walking into a high street herbal store, it pretty much smells like that. It's reasonably pleasant, but I don't think it's a very nice smell for your vagina!
Using this product:
The product listing does state that this is a gel, but it's much more of an oil than a gel. I put a few drops onto my finger and massaged it into my clitoris and waiting for the sensations to arrive. After around 3 minutes I started to feel it work. It was like a cooling sensation at first, but then it started to get more intense.
This is where it gets a bit strange. I believe there's a very fine line between a tingling sensation and a stinging sensation and this was sitting on the fence a bit too much for my liking. If you're in the frame of mind where you think, "Oh, this is really tingling," then it feels nice, but if just for one second you think, “Oh, this burns”, then you'll realise it's actually really stinging. This went on for the whole time I was using this product, one moment I felt like it was tingling and the next moment it just felt really uncomfortable.
This is definitely a mind over matter product. If I could go through the whole experience purely thinking that it felt nice, then that would be okay, but that line really is quite fine. I used this product with my husband, and as he started playing with my clitoris it didn't feel like the product was working any more. It just felt totally normal, no stinging, but not any tingling either. After a few uses I've come to the conclusion that this product purely works when exposed to air, and as soon as your clitoris is stimulated you just don't feel the product any more. Then when the stimulation stops, after a few seconds the tingling starts to return.
I don't think this is a good product. It does make you feel aroused before sex, but once you feel the burning it totally puts you off. I definitely didn't feel any vibrations like the product claims, and I honestly don't think I will use this product again. This product is definitely not for me, and at a price of £17.99 for a tiny bottle of stinky stuff that kind of burns you, just really doesn't seem worth it in my opinion. It talks a big game, but it can't live up to its expectations.
- The packaging is great!
- The smell, the stinging/burning and the lack of sensations when stimulated.
- Bottom line
- Another "wonder product" that just doesn't live up to its claims.
