Escante Pink Lace Merry Widow Bustier Set

Wow, the colour of this *really* pops! The contrast between the hot pink and the intense Cadbury purple does weird things to my eyes. In some lighting, the purple straps look almost navy blue, while the lace is more of a plum-to-purple shade. It makes a nice change though, as don’t have anything else this bright in my wardrobe!
The first time I tried this item on I stepped into it and pulled it up over my hips. This was tricky, as the waist hem is tight and could only just, with difficulty, be eased up over my hips! Pulling this bustier on over my head worked better. It was still snug and a bit fiddly to get on, but at least I didn’t feel like I was at risk of tearing it. For reference, I’m size 12 and 34DD, 5’3” (159cm) tall. I normally order size Large in Lovehoney lingerie, and given that other reviews suggested that this item runs a bit small, I ordered a size Large in this Escante item too, which proved to be correct (I’m still a 12 in regular clothes though….go figure).
The bra part of lingerie is usually where I have fit issues, but this bra is actually pretty good and doesn’t cause too much overspill. The additional strapping helps. There is an underwire but no padding in the stretchy mesh cups and the bra strap part is also quite stretchy. The end result is not too supportive, but it’s good enough given that I don’t plan on wearing it all day. The matching lacy knickers are a good fit and really cute, in fact I would be happy to wear those as a stand-alone piece.
The only area where I felt that the manufacturer could have done better was the quality of the fabrics and stitching - there were a lot of loose threads and skipped stitches, and the edge finishing and quality of the elastics isn’t great either (especially compared with Lovehoney’s own-brand lingerie). Verdict? I’ll have lots of fun wearing this sassy item but I don’t expect it to last very long.
