    1. Does what it says on the bottle

      Reviewed: 21 September 2020 by welshlovers72

First off a disclosure. We were sent this item by Lovehoney in return for an honest review. So here it goes.

As a lady in her 40s, I was intrigued to discover Lovehoney considering stocking products aimed at those experiencing side effects of the menopause and happy to give one a try.

The product comes in a squeezey, easy-to-dispense bottle which itself is a delicate pink colour and so doesn't look out of place on a shelf with other lotions. A quick squeeze with the bottle upright reveals on a very light fragrance, hardly detectable. This isn't a bad thing in my view. I'm after a moisturiser and not a perfume for a garden.

The moisturiser itself is clear and slightly tacky, more like an Aloe Vera gel in texture than say a cream or lotion. Having perfumed a test on my wrist with no adverse reaction, I applied to my pubic area. The moisturiser actually feels like a cream when applied and I suffered no reaction. No burning or tingling. The moisturiser didn't leave me with a feeling of dampness, which I was concerned would be the case, and on a positive note, nor was I left with an itching sensation either.

While it's a little early to give a long-term review, the initial experience is a positive one.

    2. Overall Rating
      8 out of 10 stars
      Pros
Low odour, appropriate level of moisturisation in a subtle bottle.
      Cons
      Nothing comes to mind.
      Bottom line
A balanced moisturiser than does seem to work.

    1. It's a no from my vulva

Reviewed: 18 September 2020 by Gosig, a Straight Married Female

Isn't ageing great? As I move into my forties, with thoughts of the menopause on the horizon, so turn my thoughts to how the coming years may impact upon my sex life. With this in mind, I was delighted to test a product designed exactly with this in mind.

First, the positives. The fragrance is minimal (I was worried by the potential overt floweriness of something called 'blossom balm'), and the texture is smooth and reasonably thick in consistency. An unexpected but very welcome side effect was the psychological benefit of what basically starting the day with what amounts to already having damp knickers: it was a pleasant, entirely personal yet hidden distraction, like having jingle balls or a butt plug in place.

Sadly, however, I couldn't seem to use the moisturiser without some (unwanted) heat and tingling on application. The skin test on my hand was fine, but despite trying the product at different times in the day and over a few weeks, there was always this initial unpleasant sensation. It wasn't a strong 'must wash it off asap' style reaction, but it certainly wasn't the cooling, relieving sensation that usually makes applying a moisturiser anywhere on the body such a blessing.

Even though this was always a relatively short-lived unpleasantness, it is enough to make me reluctant to ever put this balm anywhere near my vulva ever again. Hands, elbows, knees? Yep. My precious nether-regions? Never again. Shame.

      Not for me.
