    1. Better than expected

      Reviewed: 23 May 2020 by Caz56761

So as it states in the title it was better than I expected, this is my second cup, the first being a Boots special. It worked, it did the trick so it lead me to look further into things and I discovered this amazing Ziggy cup.

It is comfortable to wear and easy to fit. It holds way more than I would have ever expected, and ladies, if you suffer from that dreaded pulling feeling where your period is that heavy you're not sure if your insides are about to fall out, this helps to ease all of that.

I have not attempted to have sex using this but I feel it would be the same as using the contraceptive cap. Also just to help with size guidance too, I'm a mom of 5 and it's a snug fit.

    1. Just perfect

Reviewed: 16 February 2020 by If walls could talk, a Straight Married Female

I love this cup. It is easy to use, effective, discreet, reusable, causes no irritation and best of all: it can be worn during sex!

I’ve used otherIntimina cups before, but got to admit I always found the tip of the cup poking out quite uncomfortable, and having had disposable discs before, I thought I’d give this a try. It is super comfortable (you don’t feel it at all) and the seal it forms can also help with cramps.

Yes, it takes a little practice to get used to it, but most things do, and once you get the hang of it you’ll be able to do it in seconds.

I wear mine throughout my period, for sex and all other activities including swimming and cycling. My partner can just about feel it, but says it doesn’t detract from the experience, and it means the sheets aren’t stained afterwards.

I also love that you can just rinse it out every 12 hours so you don’t need to be constantly changing it through the day.

My only gripe with this is the packaging, so much of it! I’ve repurposed it as makeup and jewellery drawer organisers, but I really feel like this was a bit over the top.

That being said 10/10 for Lovehoney for supplying this and empowering women to have sex throughout their cycle!

    1. Mess-free period sex

Reviewed: 12 February 2020 by Limasm, a Straight Going Steady Female

As a long-time menstrual cup user, I was intrigued and excited at the prospect of mess-free period sex using a menstrual disc. The Ziggy is soft, flexible and easy to use. It even comes with its own silicone pouch. During my period it worked great from the start, although I think it may be a little big, so a range of sizes and would be an advantage.

But it lived up to expectations. I had mess free sex while on my period for the first time ever! I’m a convert from cups to discs for sure! The only thing I will say, though, is mess free removal is an art. It can get very messy at cleaning time!

    1. Pink Yorkshire Pudding!

Reviewed: 30 December 2019 by Petrichor, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

Since I found out softcups that can be used for sex existed I've wanted to try one, so getting a nice reusable silicone cup, with a silicone case is great!

I received this one as a tester, so have only been able to use it the once before getting my review in, so although it wasn't an entirely great experience I'm expecting it to only get easier from here - my first cup I ever used was also a challenge to get used to!

I love menstrual cups, but they're definitely not for everyone. If you are not very comfortable with your body (or not happy to learn to be!) menstrual cups probably aren't for you. If you know where your cervix is, and you're not put off by blood, you're more likely to get on well with it.

This style is very different from the standard 'cup' shape, it essentially lies diagonally from underneath your cervix, to under your pubic bone. Because of my anatomy, this poses a bit of a challenge - I'm quite small with a very low cervix, and it is towards the back of my vagina. The cup, on the other hand, is quite a lot longer folded flat to insert and kept trying to go over the top, meaning it would catch precisely no blood at all. Quite a lot of wiggling and repositioning required - but after the first few attempts, I could get it into place after only a few minutes.

The first couple of days honestly did not go well, maybe because of my lack of experience with this style of the cup there was a lot of leakage. I put this partially down to oversleeping lying on my front, meaning it was not held in the cup by gravity, but it then happened again later that morning. I was very relieved to have taken the day off work, and only had to explain my unplanned showers to my boyfriend. 20 degree wash cycles saved two pairs of pyjamas and a lot of underwear I feared was dead to me.

After day 2, I had no issues at all with leakage. I was able to run upstairs two at a time and do a pullup. The only time a problem occurred is when a friend picked me up in a goodbye hug and squeezed me tight enough to break the seal, meaning I have to shoo him out of the house and run to the bathroom.

I was also able to use the toilet without needing to remove my cup - it didn't slip out of place at all, but the seal did momentarily break meaning it slightly emptied itself. To properly break the seal and remove the cup, you need to hook your finger under the rim of the cup and slide it out. If you slide it straight down (the easiest way) your entire palm is in the firing line. If you flex it and try to slide it up towards your mons, you can avoid the mess a little. I think this is just because of the angle of the rim - if you hold a cup at 45 degrees, it's going to make a lot more mess than if you keep it upright!

The silicone of the cup body is practically paper-thin - it has some stretch in it, but I'm concerned I might put my nail through it one day! This is important for its main selling point - that you can have sex with it! While with my anatomy I don't think I'd be able to have sex with my boyfriend due to lack of depth, I can confirm that pressure feels just as good through the thin membrane of the cup, and it definitely works for a couple of inches / G-spot stimulation. If you're comfortable enough with blood to use this cup, you're probably also not going to be too worried about mess having sex without it, but I can see it being really helpful if you're fine with mess but your partner isn't.

The packaging was utterly ridiculous for a product that's supposed to be reusable and better for the environment; it was encased in a solid plastic box. I'd have been a lot happier with a cardboard box, or vacuum-sealed plastic shell on a piece of card.

The silicone case it came with I really liked. This is a big improvement from the last Intimina cup I bought, which had a plastic clamshell case that you could see the plastic hinges fatiguing on from the first use. The case doesn't completely seal, so I would probably want to slip it in another bag, but this is good so that it will always have airflow to be kept clean and dry. For someone with irregular periods, it's nice to be able to just keep something like that in a bag / drawer at work.

Sexual hygiene and health are a normal and really important part of sexual happiness, and menstruation seems to be something that gets neglected - plenty of condoms and douches, but no tampons or cups! Some toy brands that are already stocked here have also branched out into cups, so I'm hoping to see more similar products. I'm so glad that Lovehoney have started selling these - I think I'd previously requested cups in the pander to me thread because there's nobody I trust more when purchasing silicone for my vagina!

Silicone, good sensation through it, double rim, silicone case.
Slightly too big for me, wasteful packaging, leaked lying on my front.
      Bottom line
Improvement on Intimina collapsible cup, suitable for high cervix, leaked more than my normal cup.

    1. Comfortable but a little tricky

Reviewed: 23 May 2020 by littlemisswinelips, a Straight Engaged Female

I tried the ziggy menstrual cup as I have used cups for a long time, needed a new one and loved the idea of being able to use this for mess free sex.

The cup itself is soft and strong, comes with a good little carry case and is easy to clean. The instructions on the package are really vague, so I watched the video info on Lovehoney and others online to make sure I was doing it right because it is a bit tricky to get into place.

The first time I properly got it into place it was really comfortable, totally leak proof and I almost forgot it was there. For sex while wearing it, it did its job no mess anywhere. I was just a little concerned about my partner feeling it. But I couldn't feel it, only in my mind! And I don't think he noticed much. Nothing of note anyway.

But then during normal wear out and about. Once I thought I'd got the hang of it and was happy with it. I found that it kept slipping. I don't know if your cervix changes position along your cycle, but I just couldn't get it to stay up there!

I've read various comments saying the same, that they couldn't wear it for the beginning of their period but could at the end... So I'll try again next month and hope I crack it because I really want it to work for me! It's good for the environment, comfortable to wear, with the added bonus of no sexless weeks mid month.. I just need to practice I think, but surely it shouldn't be that hard!

Comfortable, environmentally friendly, easy to clean, can wear during sex.
Probably a bit messy to empty in public toilets, difficult to get the hang of.
      Bottom line
Probably excellent once you get the knack but a bit tricky to master.
