    1. Much Love For Max

Reviewed: 14 November 2017 by PrincessSparkle, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

As some of you may have seen, I've written a review for the Nora. This is the counterpart that we own for the device, which we use paired over long distance.

I'm not gonna witter on about packaging, but let's just say the box is big and a little explicit- there's no hiding what's in it. It's not an issue for me, but for my partner who likes to be a little more discrete, it does present minor issue.

First impressions of this toy are overwhelmed by the size. This thing is big and heavy. You're probably gonna want some sort of mount for it, as it becomes tiring on the arm pretty quickly and detracts from the fun.

Compared to the Nora, this looks a little cheaper with bright white plastic and some grey bands. It could have been made a lot sleeker and more luxurious for the price you pay,

The sleeve is TPE and feels a bit weird, but a dusting with cornflour makes it silky and much more flesh like. The ''vaginal'' opening isn't too daunting or unattractive, and so isn't really offputting.

In use, we found the canal was pretty tight, so anyone with a large girth will have problems with this toy. There is some stretch, but not enough. As the sleeve is removable for cleaning, you can have a look inside to see the functional parts, which is kinda cool, but it does mean the sleeve can push inside the tube, and the rim of the plastic is unfinished and quite sharp which I think needs to be remedied. It's a risk of injury, and of damaging the sleeve.

The canal is also open-ended, so semen and lube can run into the plastic case which is a problem as it isn't waterproof and cannot be washed. Condoms are an option but are expensive and my partner didn't enjoy the sensation, but we found putting a plastic food baggy in the tube then the sleeve inside solves the problem without any detraction from sensation. It also provides a bit of a buffer to protect the sleeve from the tube when in use.

The next major point is the noise. Damn this thing is loud! The vibrations are loud enough, across all four intensities, but the air-pump sucking thing is even louder. This isn't something you can use when other people are around or in a shared house, and that presents a major issue for a lot of users of these pairs, including us.

In terms of sensation, my partner found the vibrations pleasant but quite intense in the higher settings, though he is new to male toys so he was still getting used to it in general. He enjoys the sucking function but found the vent has to be open or the canal is too tight and you cannot trust, no matter how much lube you use.

When connected, the toy and app work well together, but there are a few seconds of delay between function changes which is a bit meh.

If you would like more app details, go find my other review. It's enough to say that it is user-friendly and functional, and a lot of fun to be able to use with your partner.

He also found that removing the sleeve and using it on its own is quite fun.

After a few uses, it is still intact with no damage despite rigorous use, which is good, but we really don't see it lasting forever. Taking care of it with cornflour after washing will help maintain the texture, and thankfully Lovense does offer replacements at a reasonable price if you require. At present, there are no different texture options, which would be nice, but they did say that it's something they're looking into.

The other function to discuss is where you use the movement of your toy to control your partners, rather than the app. It's meant to make it more intimate and more like you're actually with each other. It's pretty fun, I'm not gonna lie, but it's not realistic or representative. The toy pretty much does what they want, and it's hard to achieve orgasm as the changes are too random. It is a bit of a laugh though.

All in all, this is a pretty decent toy and definitely one of the better ones on the market of this style. We do like it a lot and are pleased with our purchase, still a year on, but I would say maybe take advantage of sales and discounts when purchasing them.

It's a lot of fun and definitely helps bridge the gap, but this toy does have a lot of flaws for the money you pay.

    2. Overall Rating:
      8 out of 10 stars
      Pros
Good functionality, good connectivity. Great app control
      Cons
Motion function is a bit messed up, not of quality one would expect for price.
      Bottom line
Great for couples apart, but proceed with caution (aka sales).

    1. Nice idea, shame about the electrics

Reviewed: 13 December 2017 by Batgirl & Batman, a Straight Married Male

We received this alongside the Nora in exchange for an honest review.

The packaging is good and makes it look like a quality product (which it should considering the price tag).

Inside the item itself is weighty and again gives a feel of quality. The casing is again discreet and with the protective end cap on you'd never know what lies underneath.

Charging is done via a USB cable which attached via a magnet to Max. This is the same charger for Nora, which is good. I understand that with Nora you would't want the standard micro USB as it is waterproof but can't see the reason for Max. You have to make sure it is stable and the cable doesn't have any twists in it, otherwise it will pull the magnets off the connectors.

The sleeve has a soft feel and is nice and stretchy. The inner texture is very comfortable and gives a good sensation without being too aggressive on your delicate parts. The end of the casing, however, is a little thin and as this also has the threads for the cap on it. It comes a little sharp. Not enough to cause any damage but enough that it can be a little uncomfortable on the surrounding areas when you get a little carried away.

The two buttons are the side are easy to control but are right at the end and takes a few hand adjustments in order to change the settings when in use. But then again you're going to be using the app anyway.

In terms of the app it has changed its name and took a little finding, but once installed it was easy to connect everything and worked very smoothly. Everything is easy to control. There is no lag and the controls are large in the app so you go have to go fumbling around when there are other things to be fumbling around with.

When max is turned on the first thing you notice is the noise - OMG it is loud. Normally I would have said that if you want to be discreet then don't use if you have thin walls, but this I wouldn't use if there was someone in the same building. Maybe the same street. Unfortunately that appears to be the only thing you tend to notice. Even with both the suction and vibrations on max setting they re not enough alone. The suction changes the tightness of the sleeve, which helps when using as you would a standard stroker.

In short I don't think the technology is quite there for battery powered male toys like it is with female toys. It's a nice idea and is certainly a bit of fun. Especially for couples that have to spend a lot of time apart, but for half the money I would buy a Fleshlight and use Skype.

    2. Overall Rating:
      6 out of 10 stars
      Pros
Texture is good and material is soft.
      Cons
      The electrics didn't do much.
      Bottom line
You're better off with a Fleshlight.

    1. Returned

Reviewed: 15 April 2018 by Mr Pheebs

Seeing the Lovense Max and thinking about sexting, I bought one with high hopes and expectations.

After all, there isn’t really a wireless-activated toy for men that actually caters for men to allow someone else to make you cum from miles away. Strange as there are quite a few for women.

The Max is encased in hard plastic. It doesn’t look too bad, but it’s smooth, off white, which doesn’t really offer anything in the form of invitation to touch it. It’s not massively wide, though, so should fit in most hands.

It charges with a magnetic port. The magnets are weak and just the cable straightening itself once being un-folded was enough to disconnect the toy.

The sleeve of the toy is cyberskin. It’s nice and soft and pliable. Smooth to the touch and the inside of the sleeve is coated with dreamy bumps throughout.

Removing the sleeve and looking into the plastic casing are 2 deflated air bladders. The bottom of the toy inside the tube has a clear membrane, separating the business end to the electronics.

Connecting the software app to phone and connecting the Max is really easy. It just works and the remote sharing to let other people control it also works. The software has two controls, one for the vibrations and one to inflate the bladders to create a squeeze.

When turned on the vibrations are massively hampered by the sleeve and the fact that they have to travel through the air bladders to make contact with your cock. The sensation is totally underwhelming, and the best place to be to feel the vibrations is the plastic outer shell, so if you have erogenous zones on your palms and not on your cock, you’re quids in here.

The unit houses a small air pump to inflate the air bladders. It’s just too noisy. I compare it to one of those electric car tyre pumps but even higher pitched. The sound can’t be drowned out, be warned.

Also, with the unit I bought the air bladder on one side would not deflate. It was tight without any air but now I can’t even get a little finger in there. There is no valve or button to press to deflate it, which is a bit daft. I’m going to return it and it’s the first toy I’ve ever returned, because I can always imagine a use for ones that aren’t great.

It’s such a shame and so frustrating. Developers really need to start thinking more about male sex toys that are just for men like remote sleeves rather than just making mediocre toys and slapping a big price label onto them.

For now my advice about this toy is to avoid it. If you don’t buy it they’ll maybe improve it.

    2. Overall Rating:
      1 out of 10 stars
      Pros
The concept, which was shamelessly sold.
      Cons
      The massive disappointment.
      Bottom line
Just don’t. First item ever returned. No hope for this one.
