Coco de Mer Toy Cleaner 100ml

When I received the email informing me that we had been chosen to test a product from the new luxury range and that the item was the Coco de Mer Toy Cleaner, I was at first a little surprised that Lovehoney would start to cross over with Coco De Mer, as in the past they always seemed to be quite separate ventures despite being owned by the same people.

However, the surprise soon wore off and excitement kicked in. The email stated it would be sent as a Coco de Mer order but would be shipped from Lovehoney's warehouse. As always, delivery was both prompt and discreet and from the outside looks just like any other Lovehoney Order.

Open the box and the first thing you notice is that your item is wrapped in tissue paper held together with a Coco de Mer label. The product packaging is simple but oozes quality. The bottle, rather than being the normal plastic we are probably all used to, is actually made of glass and is a very stylish design, with a spray top and a pull-off lid. Also has a nice weight to it and would not look out of place left out on your dresser.

The method of using this toy cleaner is a little different to others that I have tried. They have all required rinsing after cleaning with this one. However, you simply spray on, leave for five seconds, and wipe of with a lint-free cloth. It does have a very slight smell, but only if you get really close to it, and it is in no way unpleasant and soon wears off.

Overall this is a quality item from a luxury brand, and though it may not be the cheapest toy cleaner you can buy, I defy you to find a classier looking one.

As someone with a really extensive toy collection that covers almost every material you can buy, having a reliable and easy to use cleaner is absolutely vital. Therefore this cleaner is a godsend! It’s easy to use plus the beautiful design makes this perfect to keep out on your dresser for immediate use. Perfect!

Firstly the packaging is unbeatable. It’s elegant and chic like all Coco de Mer products, and comes beautifully presented in a lovely brown box making it totally gender non-specific.

The bottle is absolutely gorgeous! The glass is heavy and durable (I accidentally dropped this on a ceramic floor and nothing was broken!) with a perfectly designed spray nozzle that boasts no drips, spills or finger strain. On the front is a peacock and flower design that makes the product more attractive, but certainly doesn’t ring any alarm bells that this is for sex toys. The front is labeled as ‘toy cleaner’ though, so that might be the only issue if you want to leave this out for guests/family members to see.

Using the cleaner and spray bottle could not be easier. All you have to do is a couple of quick sprays (made really easy leave it for 5 seconds and just wipe it clean. No rinsing, no drying and it’s totally skin safe.

Personally I have very sensitive skin and am prone to infections so I’m wary of products that make this claim. However, for the sake of science I tried this as instructed and have had zero irritation. Plus it’s veggie suitable so no user guilt as well. There is a very slight scent but only if you deliberately sniff it. It’s really not strong enough to put me off or to leave a lasting nasty chemical odour. Also, The fact that it’s an antibacterial product means it’s perfect for anyone squeamish about cleaning anal toys.

So far I’ve used this with PVC, TPR, silicone, metal and glass toys with slightly mixed results. The first three were flawless. Everything came out nice and clean and I would totally recommend this 100%. With the glass, however, I would say that this has left a few streaks compared to my wash-away cleaner. This is a minor thing but if you’re big on aesthetics it’s something to be aware of.

From top to bottom, this is truly is an essential product made into a luxury. It’s so easy to use and worth it for the peace of mind it offers you. While there may be some downsides with glass toys, all in all I would recommend this to anyone, particularly those that want elegance in design along with a quality product.

I was really excited to get a toy cleaner as a tester, as before I'd only tried one type of wipes and one liquid cleaner.

The bottle is beautiful and has a handy spray function, and it advises you to spray on, leave for 5 seconds and then wipe off with a cloth.

Unfortunately there is one thing I can't get past with this cleaner - the smell. It smells far too much like Milton solution for me to want to put it on my pervertables, it really is a strong smell.

I also dislike not using any water to help clean, as especially with some larger toys or more stubborn lubes I just don't feel a spray and wipe with a cloth cuts it. I did try rinsing the toys first, then 'cleaning' them, but they just didn't have that clean feeling I am used to.
