    1. 50 shades in one book

Reviewed: 06 September 2014 by j&lxxxx, a Straight Married Male

As Fifty Shades is the bench mark for this type of book, you have to compare it, and it is not better or worse, but definitely on parr.

Abbey the sub wants more, and so does Nathaniel the dom, although he doesn't admit it.

There are great sex scenes, some BDSM, a back story, a break up, a reunion, and a disaster. Basically what Fifty Shades had in three books, this has in the first.

It's well written, with a lot of short chapters, and I think a couple of chapters could have been merged into one.

The sex scenes start in the third chapter, and although the sex scenes were great, we would have liked a bit more of the bondage side.

If you liked Fifty Shades, we would recommend you give The Submissive a read. We will certainly be reading the next two books.

    2. Overall Rating
      10 out of 10 stars
      Pros
      A good all-round story.
      Cons
Would have liked more BDSM, hopefully this will come in the next book.
      Bottom line
A good kinky read, with a good story.

    1. Realistic Representation

Reviewed: 21 January 2015 by mostly_vanilla, a Straight Going Steady Female

I will start off by saying that, unlike some reviewers’ tendency to compare this genre with Fifty Shades of Grey, I am unable to, having not read the book. Even if I had, I would want them to do well as their own book, not just as either a good imitation or a bad copy.

The Submissive is the first in the series by Tara Sue Me, and boy, does it start off with a bang. Abby King approaches the rich and powerful Nathaniel West to fulfil her desire to become his submissive. Right from the outset, you know this book is going to be hot and racy.

As the storyline progresses, we are given the insight of a first-time submissive, her thoughts and feelings during intimate play sessions, as well as reflections on her relationship with Nathaniel and those around them. The book starts off as gently as could be permitted and becomes more and more advanced as both Abby’s confidence and trust in Nathaniel grows, all whilst still maintaining the belief of her being new to these scenarios. This allows those who have only fantasised about this kind of play to have a complete introduction on bondage, spanking and BDSM in general.

We also are able to learn the differences between what is and is not acceptable in this kind of play, and what is required of both the submissive and dominant in their relationship. This is achieved either through explanation in dialogue or through a character’s own mistakes. Abby’s interactions with her best friend allows explanation as to what bondage is and is not, as Abby explains this to an outsider of the culture.

I found The Submissive to be an excellent read, with a lot of great detail into this lifestyle that would be most useful to those considering trying it out for themselves, or to help make their fantasies just that little bit more realistic.

    2. Overall Rating
      9 out of 10 stars
      Pros
The realism in the relationship between Abby and Nathaniel, whilst still maintaining fantasy qualities.
      Cons
      Nothing.
      Bottom line
An excellent window into the world of BDSM.

    1. Great

I read an enormous amount of erotica and I've found that most of it is either terribly written or just boring.

This was not the case with Tara Sue Me's "The Submissive."

It's a great love story in and of itself, but when tons of kinky sex is thrown into the mix... well, I think you get the idea.

I'd say this is a great choice for anyone looking to safely explore the world of kinky sex, master/slave relationships, and BDSM.

    2. Overall Rating

      Pros
Storyline featuring a love story but also plenty of kinky sex
      Cons
I only wish It was longer, it ended too soon.
      Bottom line
Buy this Book. Now. Just do it.

    1. The submissive

Reviewed: 02 May 2014 by Scorpius12, a Straight Married Female

The Submissive is the first book in the ‘Submissive Trilogy’.

CEO Nathaniel West, is a man on the prowl for a new submissive, and librarian Abby, is yearning for something more from her life. The thing I found refreshing about this is that Abby knew what she was getting into and desperately wants to be Nathaniels’s new sub.

The book is told in first person so we only get Abby's perspective of the relationship, which I found to be very compelling. It is very well written and totally grabs you into Abigail’s thinking - you feel her emotion, her desires, her wants and needs.

‘The Dominant’, which is the second book in the Trilogy, allows you to hear the whole story from Nathaniel's point of view and ‘The Training’ is the final instalment, where you get to take a step further into their BDSM lifestyle.

Step into Tara Sue Me's world of dominance and submission. It's erotic, thrilling, and will leave you wanting more.

      Cons

    1. A hot read

If you like the Fifty Shades of Grey books you will enjoy this one too. In many ways there are a lot of similarities.

Again we have a situation where a powerful business man takes on the dominant role while sweet and innocent librarian abbey tells the story of her role as the submissive one in the relationship.

Lots of kinky sex scenes, some BDSM and a love story mixed together make this an enjoyable and easy read.

I can't really say much more without giving away too much of the storyline, but I can say I enjoy reading it and finished the book in a few days.

I am looking forwards to purchasing the other two books in the trilogy.
