This candle is beautifully presented in a gift box, and makes a special treat or a great present. In a jar, rather than just a glass holder, it is substantial enough to chuck in a bag for a dirty weekend, but not heavy enough to add significantly to your luggage. The screw top is easy to open, but helps protect the wick from damage whilst travelling or between uses, and is an excellent idea.
The scent is not over-powering - I have the vanilla candle, and it has a very subtle scent: not at all cloying, as can sometimes be the case with synthetic vanilla odours. It is extremely long-lasting - I have had it burning in total for about ten hours, and it is only about one third gone. The wax stays cool enough to the touch to pour directly into the hand or onto the body for use as a massage oil. In this respect, it's not good for candle wax aficionados - you won't get any sting! Unlike regular wax, it stays in liquid consistency on the skin, and is quite easily absorbed, but still long-lasting for massage. A little goes a long way, though, as with many oils - if you use a lot, you will find you may need to blot yourself off after use: or just let it slither onto the sheets and your partner. It doesn't seem to stain, either, though as I have only used it whilst travelling, obviously I haven't seen the sheets after washing to be completely sure - but there were certainly no signs of residue in the morning.

When I received this I was very impressed at first sight, lovely packaging, very tasteful and chic. It oozed quality and makes a lovely gift. Inside the gift box is the candle contained in a glass jar, mine is the aphrodisiac scented one and the smell is subtle and spicy, not overpowering or cloying.
On lighting it I did expect more scent to fill the room than it did, it was left to burn for a time until the top part of the wax had melted and then we were ready to go. I love massage – a lot! I love hot wax too! I have tried other massage candles and this one has pros and cons just like the others.
Pouring the wax on creates a lovely warmth, it doesn’t burn at all, it’s literally just warm. Rubbing it in felt wonderful for me, some others feel a bit thick and greasy but this one had far less friction and I enjoyed it immensely. The wax also melted evenly in the pot and didn’t leave a dip in the middle of the candle like some do making subsequent uses awkward – this one can be reused without hassle.
On the con side, because I’ve never found a perfect one, my husband found this unpleasant on his own hands, he said it felt like it was crisping up as he slid his hand over it and he didn’t like that, I also needed the excess wiping off after just like the others I have tried which is fine by me – you need to do that with oil usually too.
So overall I was happy with it, I’d certainly use it again but my husband is a bit funny about texture on his hands so he’s not so hot on it.
