    1. Great... But not so great

Reviewed: 18 December 2014 by TickleMeTots, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

I've only recently been aware of the brand JO and have heard about their good reputation for long-lasting lubes, so I was eager to trial it. As soon as I noticed their Certified Organic lube, it was a no-brainer buy!

On the day that it arrived, I was determined to find out what was so great about this brand, so without delay (or waiting for my partner to come home), I had a little play with the lube.

Firstly, after peeling back the hygiene strip, I could smell a quite clean, fresh scent - great start! However, when the lid was screwed back onto the bottle, it took quite a long time to get started as the lube just wouldn't budge. I gave it a big squeeze, nothing. Shook it a little, still nothing. I ended up actually getting a little frustrated and just hid the bottle on my bed side table, and finally success!

As soon as I could see the lube, I understood why it was so hard to get it out of the bottle, as it's very thick and more like a paste/gel? So that wasn't very flattering, and nor is the colour! Personally I don't enjoy the idea of something with a hint of brown around my vagina, it just didn't feel right. So that again was a bit off-putting.

So, now I'm all lubed up, time to put it to the test! I started off with a bit of finger play, which felt more like I was just spreading the lube over myself as it's thickness meant it stuck together instead of just dripping all over on its own, like other lubes I've used do. As I wasn't enjoying finger play with the lube, I moved onto testing the JO Organic lube with some toys. This time around was so much more enjoyable than finger play! I didn't feel the need to top it up at all, nor did it get sticky or lumpy as other lubes do. Cleaning the product off my toys was very easy as well, didn't leave any marks, nor did it need too much effort to get off.

Later on I managed to test it with my partner. Thought it would be funny to first see his attempt to get the lube out, and it was pretty hilarious as he was just as confused and frustrated with it as I did. Once it was out, though, he questioned whether it was in date or not, which isn't a good thing to be questioning about something you're about to cover your genitals in! But once put to use, again it didn't need topping up at all, and nor did it get sticky either.

Overall, if you can get past the look and thickness of the JO Organic Lube, it will be a great product and does what it's supposed to as well as being better than other lube brands.

No need to top up, didn't become sticky nor lumpy. The scent is nice too.
Colour, thickness and the effort of trying to get the lube out of the bottle.
      Bottom line
If you can get past the look and thickness, it's is a great product.

    1. It's all Systems JO for this lube (well almost)

Reviewed: 23 February 2014 by myghost, a Straight Single Female

While I haven't seen System JO products for sale on Lovehoney before, I am familiar with the brand's products - with the exception of it's "Certified Organic" lube. It comes in a squeezy bottle with a pop-up top, and much to my surprise the label isn't your normal paper or plastic wrap, it's fabric made out of the same stuff labels in clothes are. The label tells you almost everything you need to know about the lube.

Sometimes calling something Organic or Certified organic can be misleading and I did expect this lube to be full of methylcarbonpolygons and other chemicals the names of which I can't pronounce. Maybe with some glycerine and parabens added for good measure. With a why did they bother amount of "Certified Organic" content. In fact, with the exception of two ingredients, this bottle of JO lubricant has nothing but natural "USDA" certified organic ingredients in it. Including Aloe Vera and Acai and absolutely no parabens or glycerine which can cause issues with delicate female areas. A real winner in my book

Before you use this lube for the first time you will have to unscrew the top and remove the hygiene seal or nothing will come out. If you take a moment to sniff the lube you will definitely notice the clean fresh smell of Aloe, which I really like.

Then a possible problem, and one not pointed out on the label: the consistency. I'm used to lubes that are liquidly, no thicker than KY jelly. I don't know if I got a bad bottle, but the lube in mine is an incredibly thick jelly, like jam spread on toast. I have to stick my finger in to bottle just to get the lube out. Even if I could squeeze the bottle, nothing will come out. That said, it does work like lube, is silky smooth, long-lasting and moisturising. When I put some on the back of my hand it took a few minutes to completely absorb. I wouldn't suggest it for oral sex though if you are used to Durex's Aloe Lube and its sweetness as this JO lube has a bit of an unpleasant taste to it

When put on my sensitive areas that have in the past been sensitive to certain lube, it felt silky fresh moisturised and lasted ages so could work as an anal lube. Plus no nasty side effects because it's all natural ingredients. There was also no residue or stickiness between applying to skin and being completely absorbed by the skin. Being water-based it's completely safe to use with latex and all manner of toy materials.

System JO's tag line is "Meet your new best friend". Did I meet my new best lube friend? I think I did.

Would I buy this lube again? If it was more liquidly like I suspect it's supposed to be, I would.

No nasty chemicals. Light fresh fragrance. Lasted a very long time.
It's an incredibly thick jelly and I'm not sure it's supposed to be.
      Bottom line
Meet your new best friend - JO Certified Organic Lubricant.

    1. A Good Product, But Not For Me

Reviewed: 10 August 2015 by Kae

I was really excited to find this particular lubricant after searching for another particular brand that I couldn't find. The fact that it has so few ingredients, all of which are natural was a bonus for me and my incredibly sensitive body.

On the bottle is a slightly presumptuous slogan: "Meet your new best friend". I've discovered it's more like a friend of a friend that you aren't very close to but is willing to help you out if you need it.

When I received it the first thing I did was twist off the cap and peel off the tamper seal. The second thing I did was check the use by date, because at first glance the appearance was... slightly odd. In the bottle it looked like apple sauce that was slightly separated. I put the cap on and shook it to see if that would help but no, still the same. I squeezed some out into the palm of my hand. It smells like aloe (a main ingredient) and didn't really taste of anything (it's not flavourless and not what I would call wonderfully pleasant) and seemed to make my fingers very slippery.

The first time I used it, I thought it didn't work very well. It was difficult to squeeze out of the bottle and didn't really help the insertion of my toy. I realised later, that I wasn't using enough and being more liberal with application was more helpful. Actually applying enough though was difficult to achieve.

I took off the lid and peered underneath to see what was going on. There is a tiny hole that the lube is supposed to be squeezed up through plus an even smaller spout-like hole that it comes out of. Combined with the air at the top and the plastic of the bottle that doesn't really have much give, it's not exactly easy to squeeze. I have on occasion had to use two hands to get enough product out. If you want to try this lube but have mobility or dexterity issues or not very strong hands, or you don't want to put that much work into trying to apply your lubricant, it might be a good idea to put it in another dispenser first.

Also, I'm not sure what it is about it that makes the dried lube turn slightly yellowish but it seems to have stained the outside of the bottle, and some of the ABS plastic buttons on my brand new vibrator. I was slightly disappointed with that, but I guess it's sort of my own fault because I forgot to clean it off straight away.

It's a good water based lube that is as natural as you're going to get, but for me personally, the lack of ease when applying and strange texture are deal breakers. I'm definitely going to finish the bottle, considering the price I paid for it, but I don't know if I would purchase it again.

If you want a good quality organic lubricant and you have strong hands and don't mind that it isn't silky smooth, I would recommend this product.

Quite thick, little to no taste or smell, natural and organic.
Strangely lumpy, seems to stain and discolour slightly, difficult to dispense.
      Bottom line
A quality product, but not to my liking. Probably wouldn't buy it again.
