Reviewed: 05 July 2017 by A Curious Bluebird, a Straight Single Female

I don't know if this toy's medical-like is discreet or just plain odd, but it feels so nice I don't really care.

The Womaniser Pro40, despite its appearance, doesn't suction into your clit. It does really vibrate either. The best way I can describe it is 'pressure'. Very delicious pressure.

Instead of vibrating or sucking, this toy works by pushing and pulling air through its little 'treatment head' which sits around, but not directly on, your clitoris and creates a kind of airlock seal. To maintain this seal, it has to be held still. All these features mean that the Womaniser definitely takes time and experimentation to get used to.

The design and shape of the toy is very intuitive. The buttons are easy to reach and press and simple to understand. I love the fact that pressing the power button once will take you back down to the lowest setting. In total, there are 10 settings, giving you a huge variety to choose from. When I first used this toy, I stayed mostly around 2-3, now I prefer 4-5, even 6 if I'm feeling greedy.

Though the Womaniser is pretty quiet when 'sealed' to your clit, when you lift it off your body to readjust its position, it's quite loud. My workaround for this noise issue is to hit the power button (taking it back down to setting 1) every time I need to reposition it, then scroll back up once it's back on my body.

Reviews and instructions recommend placing the Womaniser directly over the exposed clitoris, but I found that uncomfortable for the skin around my clit, as the edges of treatment head are pretty stiff. The way I prefer to use it is over my inner labia lips, stretched enough to cover my clit and cushion the treatment head. People also recommend using a small amount of water-based lube to help create the seal, I find the lube makes it too slippery to seal properly.

Because the toy has to be held still to work, it can feel pretty uninteractive. I can basically only use it while sitting or lying on my back. Any other position dislodges it too much. I also can't combine it with an internal vibe because the Womaniser is kind of long and gets in the way. However, the upside to this uninteractivity is that it's perfect for lazy masturbation.

Perhaps my only real issue with the toy is that the air sometimes gets... stuck? Turning the toy up to about 3-5 usually fixes it, almost "dislodging" the air and returning it to normal.

After all that, once I finally got used to this toy, it became a go-to. The variety of settings are perfect for slow build-up or fast orgasms if you need them. The ease with which you can move up and down between the settings makes it easy to tease and edge yourself, or rocket yourself to the finish. The sensation of pressure as opposed to vibration creates a lovely throbbing feeling in your clit leading up to orgasm. And because the toy doesn't really touch your clit, it doesn't desensitise you much, if at all. With the up/down buttons, I've learned to ride out my orgasm and eventually work up to seconds and thirds.

For me, the Womaniser is not the one-minute miracle worker others herald it as, but it makes orgasms easy and efficient, all without sacrificing the sensuality of self-pleasure.

    2. Overall Rating
      10 out of 10 stars
Rechargeable, efficient, unique pressure stimulation, variety of intensities, little to no desensitisation.
Loud when out of position, sometimes air malfunctions, can feel uninteractive.
      Bottom line
      Efficient and unique pleasure.
