I bought myself a glass dildo for a little self play, six inch and pretty straight forward, but one thought I had is that it was *very* rigid, and I'm wondering if that's necessarily as good as people say?
More so, while there's generally no issues, when I'm removing it afterwards, there's always the real discomfort, I feel, of having to pull the head out. It's just really uncomfortable and I honestly never look forward to it!
Is this a common issue with more rigid and/or glass dildos? Are softer alternatives and materials more recommended? Any advice or stories?

    Thanks!

    Hi _1996_!

I'm quite new to anal too. I started with silicone, then moved up to metal and glass once I was comfortable but I mainly use plugs so they don't go in as far. Glass wise I use the beaded end of this:

The beaded end is only 2/3 of inches in length so it doesn't go in as far and is quite easy to remove. For anything longer, I think I'd rather start with silicone or something else that's soft until I'm more used to it as there is some flex.

Are you struggling to get it in as well as out? Have you tried warning it up in warm water first?

I would reccomend considering the lovehoney lifelike range of silicone dildo's, they are in various colours, similar size to glass toys and offer on special offer. I bought glass and found it very uncomfortable because there is no flex, i have found silicone dildo's of a similar size much easier to use because they flex and squash a bit while still doing what we want them to do.

If you dread removing it, it does sound like you need to try something else.

Is it just the diameter of the head as you remove it or the angle as you remove it?

    I started with

    and

There is also the option of an inflatable one so you can adjust the size and stretch yourself.

Glass and such as silicone, or softer dual density silicone dildos, are as different as the sun and the moon, intrerms of how they feel in use. Glass can give a very intense sensation, that many people I have seen comment on here seem to like.

As for difficulties removing it after play, first get a good anal lube; if you are using glass you are ok to use any kind of lube. Personally I like the thick oil based ones with glass like this one, https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=30612

Also if you are a beginner to anal play then this will help relax the anal muscules, https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=17607

Secondly, and from personal experience, as soon as you get the dildo in, pull it out and then put it back several times; as if you get it in and the main stem of the dildo is much thinner than the head, then while you are playing your anus will contract to the smaller diameter, making it harder to remove. Remove it every minute or so ater the initial in out; as a beginner you need to train your anus to accept penetration, it hasn't evolved to find having something go up a natural thing. But it can be taught, but like all things we teach our bodies to do, the more often you do it the easier it get's. And if you stop practicing you get rusty at it, the same applies here.

Starting with something like this https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=30945 you won't have that larger head to contend with; plus when you get more experienced you can turn it round and use the handle end for more stretch.

Work your way up in size, in stages, if you like many people get gready eyes in your bum once you get into it; as too big a jump in size may put you off. Also when you get onto bigger toys warm up with your small toys first.

If you want to go for real feel, and slim to start off with, you won't find better than this https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=28882 it is a considered purchase though at £75. But it dones feel like the real thing, I have one of these in a larger size. And it feels wonderful, if i'm in the mood for something with real feel, but I really love glass too, for sheer hard stimulation.

Glass is great for beginners, because of how slippery it is when lubed up, and it's hardness means you are not struggling with the toy bending, against insertion, which can be frustrating and a bit uncomfortable.

Glass toys are easy to insert for a beginner because they glide very smoothly, but I think the solid form is maybe more stimulating to someone more experienced who knows what they're doing and how to work the right spots with it.

I have the LH glass anal dildo too and find it fantastic :) I really enjoy jelly dildos too because they are super comfortable, so I'd maybe recommend something like that to a begginer because they're so soft and squishy and not too challenging.
