I meant that I've heard of studies showing that they can dangerous, but no one has ever proven these studies wrong.

Only those propping up the gravestones l suppose, pretty useless in the witness box!!!

Aren't there issues with lowering blood pressure? It's something heart related I'm sure, because of all the dilation they cause. Probably a low risk, I tend to rate all drugs by this paper: http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v07/n366/a01.html which has a nice ranking at http://www.mapinc.org/images/LancetTable3.gif.

Interesting when you compare it to the current classification system, but thats a whole other topic for a thread!

It's like everything overdone. Too much alcohol and you get a headache, too much food makes you sick. Everything in moderation and you can enjoy the experience not suffer it - poppers same as!!

Gave me a headache, never used since, cannot see a reason to use them, especially if they make me go soft :-(

we bought our first bottle recently as we have some anal compatibility issues should we say and wanted to see if they helped us relax more readily.

We bought the weakest in the shop but we're not really quite sure how to use them.. how exactly? and at which point of the "evening"?

Did you buy them to help with anal? Because it's too tight? If so have you got a really good lube? I'm not sure when you would use them, i would think as he is entering you because the effects wear off really quickly. Where did you get yours from?

Many years ago I used to use poppers with an ex of mine, we both enjoyed them,I found it made me really horny and helped my muscles relax for fisting activities - but these days no, I wouldn't use them, I don't need them because I have no problems relaxing or achieving things I struggled to achieve years ago, its because Im more orgasmic now than I was then, I don't need amyl to help it along, plus I don't like the idea of playing around with chemicals any more, I can do it with out them these days.

My partner and I use poppers, for recreational and sexual purposes. Isobutyl nitrite was classified as a drug, last year I think and since then its been illegal to sell them in the EU without a prescription, something to do with The Medice Act.. maybe??.

You can still get Isobutyl Nitrate poppers from mail order from outside the EU, Isopropyl nitrite isn't particularly great, smells awful an gives you a head ache in comparison to the 'old style room aromas'.

    :)

I remember seeing a news story on a repost site. The story was from the Daily Mail and it was 'addressing' the issue of how a legal loophole now means they can be sold as fragrances and this will bring about the death of civilisation, swine flu, hoodies etc... The usually Daily Mail stuff really.

    God love ya!!

I used to sniff poppers a fair bit in my yoof at gay clubs with a mate of mine and get off my face on them. They probably do make me a bit horny too. The last time I had some was on my 30th birthday (getting on for two years ago) in a (gay) club and it was a giggle but its not something I particularly want to indulge in my 30s as I did in my 20s. Having had my first go at receiving anal last night as well and OH getting half way in, I can't say I'd be tempted to ever get any to help me 'relax' either. It's not something I want to rush (either of us) and I'd rather have time doing things naturally than with chemicals. He's pretty big so it's arguable we have 'compatibility' issues as well - but I'd rather just spend lots of time trying than sniff something that whiffs like the swimming baths. But obviously people use all kinds of things to get high to enhance sex and lose inhibitions, drink, cocaine, weed, poppers, etc. If it's just occasional then I guess there's no harm.

Columbus, when you used it did you inhale from the bottle?

We bought some and used it as described, stood on a plate and let the odours develop and it did nothing for either of us.

Way to use them is to hold your nose above the bottle and inhale but be careful not to get the liquid on your nose or skin as it can burn. Safest way is to put some cotton wool into the bottle first which stops the chance of getting it on you.

They don't really do much for my OH but I find them the most amazing thing to use either on my own or with her. The effect they have is absolutely mind-blowing. It's difficult to describe but includes ridiculous horniness and pleasure is amplified - it's like you become sex. They're awesome! But hey, that's me and not everyone gets off on them the same way.

My OH doesn't like me using them during sex but is happy for me to do so when she masturbates me or during a mutual session. It is the most intense thing.

Ive used liquid gold for the first time at the weekend and really enjoyed a different type of pleasure. My orgasm felt really good and different. I will be using it again and it doesn't do nothing bad to you it just sends you to a different feeling in your body that feels great.

Poppers are legal in the UK, France and Austria.

In many other countries they are sold under the counter, and the police don't bother to enforce the law.

They were given a bad name during the onset of the HIV epidemic. Since then it has been conclusively established that poppers do not in themselves cause HIV.

Poppers are not entirely innocent though. They can cause nasty burns on your skin and intense and prolonged use can give you a nasty cough.

Some formulations (in particular iso-butyl nitrite) have been shown to cause cancer in rats, which has led to poppers makers changing the formulation. But as white bread has been shown to have a link to bowel cancer I don't give much credit to this finding.

Poppers relax smooth muscle. This is the muscle under the control of the autonomous nervous system. As the inner sphincter of the anus is controlled by the autonomous nervous system this explains why poppers are used by those who enjoy receiving anal sex.

The relaxing of the smooth muscle means that blood pressure drops. The heart speeds up to compensate and the subject experiences a “rush” and flushing. It’s best to be seated or lying down when sniffing as you might faint. The drop in blood pressure is also the reason why it’s best not to combine poppers with Viagra. Viagra also causes blood pressure to drop and the two together could be fatal. Much has been made of the poppers connection when fatalities in Viagra users have been reported, even though that this has now been called into doubt.

About a third of all people find that poppers give them a nasty headache.

Both my wife and I use poppers occasionally. She finds that they help her reach orgasm and I enjoy using them when she does me in the behind.

The best moment for poppers I find is when you can feel the orgasm coming, but not before. Because of the blood pressure drop, poppers make it harder to maintain an erection.

I find the best way to use poppers is to sniff them from a specially made container containing cotton wool. This cuts out the risk of spillage and the need to hold onto the bottle while you’re in action.

Finally: poppers are extremely flammable. Don’t let them anywhere near candles, cigarettes, etc.
