Hello I am 19 and still a virgin.

I have never shaved my pubic hair and it is totally natural. It is quite long and curley and I was always quite proud of it.

However last weekend I went to a health spa with my friends and some of their boyfriends. When I go to the beach on hholiday and things I always cover my pubic hair up with a sarong as quite a bit of it goes down the inner side of my legs. Anyway I went to the health spa and forgot the sarong so just went in the pool in my bikini. When I was on the side of the jacuzzi one of the boyfriends said that he could see it and that it was discusting and that I needed to take a shave. If im honest I never even knew that people shaved it ! Im not sure if he saw it because I was wearing a white bikini or whether it was the bits going down my leg

I have never had any kind of sexual contact with a man or a woman so please can you help me before II get into that situation.

Is shaving what most people do? Is natural a real turn off? Please be honest

    Lisa Sky

some men like women shaved, some men like women natural every mans turn on and offs are different so because a friend commented it was disgusting to them it might not be disgusting to another,

as for me i dont shave as i find it very uncomfy and i get itchy when shaving, but i always do make sure that i have a good trim down below and hardly leave any hair, as i like it neat and tidy,

Not a fan of a lot of hair. Nice landing strip is great so get that razor on it. You will probably love the bare feeling. Also if you want a bloke to go downstairs he's more likely to do it if it's neat. x

    try this

    http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=26838

    it's down to personal taste,
even if you don't shave it all off, a trim won't hurt. maybe you like it and get rid of the lot. the worst thing that can happen is you need to let it grow again.

Honestly, I get annoyed that women (I'm going to assume you're a woman- sorry if I'm mistaken) are expected to shave/wax and yet men aren't expected to, it riles me up a little bit. But now we've got that out of the way.

Personally, I always wax and if I don't have the time to do that I shave down there as that is my preferred method, even if I wasn't going to be having any intimate contact with anyone maybe it's just habbit now?. If I didn't always do it and thought I was going to be getting 'lucky' then I would have a wax, shave or even just trim and make it neat and tidy lol. If I didn't expect to be getting lucky and something just happened then I think I would actually stop it before my underwear came off because I myself would feel uncomfortable. And that's the problem really. It's how you feel in yourself, don't shave/wax because someone tells you to if you're comfortable the way you are then it isn't really anyone else's buisness.

Also again personal preference I wouldn't myself go swimming unless my bikini line was done it would make me feel uncomfortable. Since well girls are Expected to do it. But frankly I don't think a lot of them actually do- I have a few mates that don't bother and their partners don't mind.

I think it's a generation thing. I'm twice your age and my OH has had laser treatment so that nothing shows when she's swimming and the rest is trimmed, but not shaved. She's said that her friends are similar when they've got changed together, but younger ladies are much more likely to be shaved. There are a couple of ladies that we swim with who have pubes sticking out of their swimming costume, but this is definitely the exception, and they don't shave armpits or legs either.

It's the influence of porn I suspect. Personally I like shaved legs and armpits and trimmed pubes (but not shaved), but it's just conditioning. Humans managed to find each other attractive for thousands of years before razors came along.

I can't add much more - you need the opinion of other 19 year olds really. Oh, and welcome to the forum

I trim by the way. Clean shaven balls and a nice short patch around the base of my penis. Have been doing so for ten years now. Like a work of art ;)

i don't shave i've done it in the past it got very uncomfortable to make matters worse i even wore sequined knickers a couple of times those coupled with being shaved rubbed me raw

what i do now is have a very good trim every so often get the bulk off i don't care if i have a bit of hair creeping on to my thighs i find bikini's or swim suits with a "classic" cut leg cover the hair

This makes me angry grrrr! How dare some guy comment on your vagina in the first place, let alone have the gall to call it disgusting and THEN tell you to fix it so HE finds it more appealing to look at! (Seriously giving evils to the screen right now)

No, not everyone shaves their pubes. Some men (I assume the ones who have got used to the look because of porn) INSIST on a shaved vagina and think it is somehow cleaner or better. Just like Stu said, its the influence of society and basically another way for women who don't like to shave, to feel they are abnormal.

The truth is, some women prefer to shave, some wax, some laser and some leave it alone and go natural. It is a personal choice. If you end up with a guy who tells you that the way you keep it is disgusting, dump his ass before he can say another word and get rid. Seriously, how would he like it if you had said "Oh, well your penis looks very small" or "Ewww hairy chest, disgusting, go shave it" Jeez. Please do not feel like you HAVE to do anything. There are guys out there who actually still like pubic hair, although from what I can tell, they are getting fewer.

It also applies to some women too. Some women insist their men shave their balls and pubic area. You will also find lots of women, like myself, who shave because THEY feel better about it, prefer the look and feel, but the difference is, they made that choice for themselves. They werent forced into it by a partner telling them they look disgusting.

Do what you are comfortable and happy with.

Do what makes you comfortable. I'm actually quite shocked that someone else would not only point it out, but also give their opinion and tell you what they think you ought to do!

Hair doesn't grow on the clitoris or the inner labia. If you're getting hair in your mouth, then you're obviously licking the wrong part.

As for the intial question - If you like having natural pubic hair then no one has the right to tell you its disgusting. We have hair for a reason, its natural so there really is no need to shave it off. That guy must not be a very good friend if he used the word 'disgusting' - or even worse, was rude enough to even point it out in the first place! I understand the pressure of having to shave, because everyone else is doing it - but only shave if that's what you want.

Any sexual partners you're going to have should love and accept you for who you are & shouldn't care about whether you have a bush down there or are completely bare. In fact, some even love natural pubic hair! In the end, its your decision.

I'm just going to echo what other's have said really.

Some men like women to be shaved / waxed, while others find pubic hair a turn on. Likewise, some women like their man to be shaved or trimmed, while others prefer the natural look. I guess the image of porn has altered people's perspective of the social norm, i.e. because porn stars are shaved everyone else must be too.

I was natural up untill about 13 or 14, then I started trimming and shaving my bikini line. It was only when I got to about 18 that I started completely shaving, but that was my own personal choice and I much prefer the look and feel now being shaved.

I genuinely can't believe this guy had the cheek to say that to you though. His behaviour is disgusting! Don't ever let anyone tell you what to do with your body. It's your body and do whatever you feel comfortable with. If you're comfortable and proud of being natural then stay natural, don't ever let a man, or woman, make you change!

If you do decide you want to do something though, then I would recommend shaving your bikini line, and a bit of a trim every where else. Shaving will probably be itchy and may burn the first few times you do it though as your body won't be used to it. But like I said before, if you're happy, don't change for anyone. :)

I have to agree entirely with Fluffbags here.
I generally trim or shave and will have my bikini line shaved if wearing a swim suit but that's personal choice. My partner is the same. usually trimmed or shaved but its just how we feel most comfortable but im not bothered if he doesn't shave.

Of course some people do have a preference as they do about so many things when it comes to partners but there's plenty of people whos preference is natural over shaved and as FB says if any partner makes comments like that over something natural that has no more need to be shaved than mens pubic hair than they shouldn't be allowed near your bits .

I agree hair doesn't grow on those parts, and as hair doesn't grow on the penis shaft either it still grows on the bottom and when giving oral you can still get hair in your mouth.

. o ( giving oral and then feeling like you've got a hair stuck in your throat for hours)

I just think it shouldn't be Expected that women shave/wax, as it is not expected that men do it. And No one (especially someone elses BF - If my BF pointed out that someone else had hair on their vagina I'd of smacked him upside the head so quick he wouldn't of had time to mention it was disguisting) has any right to tell someone that their vagina is disguisting because it has hair on it.

Hair is natural on a vagina, as much as it is a penis. Why are we the ones expected to get rid of our hair?!

Ppd I for one enjoy licking the whole area and not just focusing on the clitoris or inner labia. Would I do this with hair?probably not. Plus if I have stubble I usually get told to shave because I can make my oh's bits a little raw also.
Like all of us Pleasepickme can experiment because the worst that can happen is it's not for her and will grow back.
The guy certainly approached the subject totally the wrong way and was very insulting indeed.
I didn't shave and neither did my oh until we started experimenting. We both didn't like the completely bare look but she has settled with a landing strip and I rock the short back and sides.

I always shave when I'm sexually active so I wouldn't know, but is getting hair in your mouth really that common?! One of my partners didn't shave and I have never, EVER gotten any hair in my mouth when giving oral. Also, I really can't imagine hair getting in your mouth if you're eating out a woman, unless you bite down on it and pull. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong, I just feel like its a silly excuse people make up to make someone else feel bad about their pubic hair so they get rid of it.

Wanted to apologize for not being clear. I agree with everything said, I was just pointing out why there may be a difference between expectations from men and from women.

Although I do believe that no one should do things because of 'expectations', you should only do what is right for you (and significant OH).

haha with my ex it was, I don't know why but it always felt like I was trying to cough up a stray hair for hours afterwards it was horrible.

I wax regardless of if I'm sexually active. I just prefer it that way (When I have the time to do it) My OH isn't bothered if I do it or not, just as I'm not bothered if he does it or not. I just know how I prefer mine. I've never complained about getting hair in my mouth when giving oral, as you said it doesn't happen often. And since mine is always gone the OH can't complain about nothing.

I just get annoyed that guys will expect a girl to do it. And then to make comments about it. Like lets say I wasn't with my OH and then had a one night stand with someone, I wouldn't expect to find the guy neatly trimmed or shaved. But I'd bet on him expecting to find me that way (If that makes sense)

    xx
