For me it depends on the tattoo and the person.

I find tattoos that are just tattoos that hold no real meaning unattractive.

I find tattoo art and tattoos that hold meaning attractive.

I also find lovers names very silly, names of parents or children I do not.

I want to get a tattoo, I have been thinking about what I want exactly for almost 3 years to make sure I dont regret it.

I prefer full colour if they are done nicely.

I had me ex's name on my ankle.. recently had a cover up done and now love it loads lol!! I have my daughters name as shes my baby lol... Ive got many tattoos and all on a whim, and i love each and everyone of them loads!!

I think you should... its a great experiance x

Thats what I was saying sweetie, you got that tattoo thinking you were going to be together forever, you werent and so you had a tattoo that you had to cover up.

I love my OH to bits but I can never be sure nothing will happen so therefore I wont get a tattoo of someones name.

I hope this didn't sound harsh.

I am thinking of getting a beautiful butterfly when I am finally slim to symbolize a new beginning with a new body.

    x

See for me - I don't take anything lightly - I am engaged, that means I'm promising to be with him forever (within reason) when I get married, I'll probably get his name or initial tattood somewhere because I take marriage as seriously as permanently altering my body - I'd like to get a tattoo on my wedding finger when we marry as long as it'll be covered by my wedding ring.

But that's just because I take engagement and marriage very seriously. A lot of people don't. I don't judge people with their partner's names tattood on them because they may have been as serious as I am. And I'd never regret getting WandA tattood to me somewhere because he's played a massive part in my life and has been a huge influence on me - god forbid we ever do split, he's meant a lot to me and deserves commemoration ;)

I'd also like the word "Slut" tattod on my body somewhere (maybe wait 'til I've stopped holidaying with my parents though)

As you can see I love tattoos I have 8 if you count my chest as one tattoo really its made up of 3 though.

As for on a girl with or without makes no real difference ... I can appreciate the artwork of a tattoo but I do not think that tattoos make a person more attractive. It is quite strange for example if a person is not a good looking person and they get a load of great tattoos they will not all of a sudden become attractive they will just have cool tattoos.

I have had this conversation with my girlfriend a lot about whether I would prefer her to have tattoos etc I think it would be cool if she got a tattoo but because I like tattoos and if they are done by a good artist look great not because I think if she got a tattoo she would look more attractive. Of course it is a case of her wanting a tattoo as well .... if you are with someone and they say they like tattoos DEFINITELY don't get one just for that reason!

Haha Ad!! 'slut'?? very daring lol....

I had my exs name as we were engaged... and i was very young!! My husband has my initials (and now were married they are different) I have his initial, but he wont let me get his name, secretly i think he wants me too !!

I love tattoos as a type of art, with my many of mine, my husband designs them for me!! so they mean alot, but i tend to take thing lightly.. ill go and get a tattoo then feel abit like 'oh dear' but normally there hidden away anyway!! also im abit of a wimp so if i have one its now, or never!! xxxx

I do like that person you told me of Ad, with the wedding ring tattoo.

It's a great idea in my opinion.

I think the 'Slut' tattoo isn't about the social connotations that come with the word or promiscuity, it's about a permanent message saying "you can keep your social conventions and rules about sex because I'll indulge my sexuality however I please". Much deeper than some might expect.

i don't have any tattoos, just because i feel i would regret them

i have lost all 3 of my grandparents that i have known and would like something for them because they deserve something special, and i can't think of anything more special than walking around with something to remind me of them forever.

i think tattoos can look very attractive and i support my boyfriends right to tattoos, i have requrested that he not got one on his chest though as it is my favourite part of him and i'd hate it to change! but of course if he decided he REALLY wanted it i wouldn't stop him

i love muscley men with LOADS of tattoos :]

Exactly - I love sex, and will (as WandA said) ignore what society says is acceptable and only take myself and my partner into account when getting pleasure from sexual activity.

The Slut tattoo (people posted in between too )

A lot of people have expressed that they think it's a good idea! I will get it done one day, it's just about finding a way to get it somewhere discreet - I wouldn't judge someone with a slut tattoo but not everyone is me ha!

Ive only recently found out that, if on a woman, a tattoo on your lower back is known as a "tramp stamp" =S To be honest I have no idea why?

Unfortunately, it's because it became increasingly common and when something gets popular (and as a result popular with particular groups of people) it can be overtaken as a "chav" look even if some people who have it had it because they like the design and location. Unfortunately things being fashionable can be seen as a bad thing.

Its also because a lot of the typical porn stars have a lower back tattoo and due to what Ad said they are becoming being referered to as tramp stamps.

I think however that it depends on the tattoo in that case, those that are like tribal and stuff look much more trampy than something that thought has gone into. Well thats what I think anyway.

I think for many people the point in a tattoo is that it's individual and unique, it's not if everyone else has it.

As Ad says it's now associated with 'chavs' by many people, I'd partly include myself in this group. I have quite a dislike for fashion anyway and see it as a superficial manipulation that many people fall in to due to insecurity of lack of individuality. To actually permanently ink yourself with a fashion seems a bit silly to me. I know not everyone has them for this reason but I just have a negative image of them in many cases. I know not everyone will like this view but it's just my take on it and it's great if people are happy with it. It's just not my thing.

Me and the OH are considering a tattoo idea, yin yang symbols. I love what it represents.

We have 2 halves of a yin yang necklace and each wear a half always, its like a ring to us.
For our wedding bands, he is having black metal with a white stone and I am having white metal with a black metal.

    Something like:

    http://www.absolutetitanium.com/order_cart_new.php?task=load&ring=FLAT-DIAMOND-BAND&default_grade=V

    http://www.absolutetitanium.com/order_cart_new.php?task=load&ring=FLAT-DIAMOND-BAND-BLACK&default_grade=M

    or:

    http://www.absolutetitanium.com/order_cart_new.php?task=load&ring=INLAY-FLATDIAMOND-BAND&default_grade=V

    http://www.absolutetitanium.com/order_cart_new.php?task=load&ring=INLAY-FLATDIAMOND-BAND-BLACK&default_grade=M

We want tattoos that represent us but a yin yang. He wants a dragon like:

    http://www.andhrapradeshstate.in/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/ying-yang-dragon-tattoos-3.jpg

I want something that incoporates yin yang and a fairy.

If we did split up it would mean a little about each other but we both like what it stands for, always have done.

I personally dont mind tattoos but i'd hate them on myself and personally find them a waste of money. i like the look of them on some people, my OH has 3 on his arms which i do like but he's on about getting more and i think ya can have too much!

but his body and his choice they defo dont turn me off, he's lovely inside out with or without tattoos.

My Bf has just got a new tattoo - it's huge on his forearem, in memory of his mum who died aged 35 when he was only 17 - its a nice tattoo actually and I'm not a huge fan, but on him i appreciate why he's had it done and it makes him really happy when people compliment it.... 120 quid tho, me personally i wouldnt pay that for one but his money his life and he's still as hot as ever!!
