We did a lesson in year 5 (junior school) about periods and we got to play with tampons in a glass of water and they gave us all pads to look at. That was whilst the boys were out of the room (never found out what they did). Year 6 we were made to watch a video of a baby being born.

We had another assembly in year 7 where we were given 'goody bags' which had pads in and leaflets on puberty, there was a woman that came in and yet again the assembly was only for girls, bearing in mind that we were only 11/12 she told us to drink brandy to help with period cramp! After that it was mainly biology lessons where you leant exactly what happened with cartoon diagrams but that was mainly to learn body parts and what they are for.

Year 8 in personal social education we were told to come to the next lesson because it would be tones of fun, what our teacher then did was throw condoms out across the class room and then asked for volunteers to come to the front and put them on a test tube looking thing. He then showed us how to put them on properly. We watched a video called johnny the condom and it was a bit like the muppets but he was a big red condom that sang about how useful he is and what to do with him. We watched a video on contraception too and it had people having injections in it so 2 of the girls in my class fainted and thats where the lesson ended haha

I think Year 9 we watched probably the most useful video that went through the alphabet telling you different things about sex, like orgasms, and what different people like and how to make sure you are both comfortable, one i can particularly remember is about how girls use a shower head to pleasure themselves and i laughed so much at the face that the cartoon in the clip that demonstrated it!

I really like the sex education show that is on at the minute and i think if that went round to all schools in there target years then children would be much better educated!

(sorry ive just realised how much i have typed!!!!)

i never had "sex" ed in year 5 i had a lesson about periods but by then it was too late for me then in secondry school i never had it i learned everything i know by reading mag, books and actully experimenting we didnt have any Bananas nothing not even in science and i went to a normal school not a religous one.

i think the Sex Educations show is brilliant i watch it with my little sister and she finds it interesting shes not running around saying shes going to have sex with anything that walks its just a way to get educted when the schools arn't teaching it.

Okay Muz here's what you do when your daughter tells you she's lost her virginity. . . . .

Die a little inside. . . . .and realise that your little girl is growing up.

Amongst the many acts of violence towards the lad in question that were silently going on in my insane mind. I must have killed him at least a thousand times over all in different ways of course.

I think that's exactly it. Being guys we're probably really hypocritical but I'd hate to hear that my daughter has had sex until she's in a long term relationship at about 20 years old. Even then I'd die a little inside. Kind if makes me hope for all sons when I have kids when I'm older. :)

our school was pretty crap - they had some 6th form come to teach us how to put condoms on these hard plastic pretend dicks (not really dildos as looking back they looked no fun at all) other than that it was non-existant - our relgious studies teacher preached that everybody was straight (no cunt listened to her anyway as she was mad as a bag of stoats)

Well seeing as the age of criminal responsibility is now 10 (was 14 but got dropped to 10, anyone don't belive me, those 2 kids who beat a 3rd to near death were 10 and 11 and it was them not their parents that got convicted)

To me its silly that they is a 6 year gap between the age of concent and the age where you are legal responsible for your actions. But what it does mean is that if 2 peopel of the same/similar age have consensual sex (and will testify) then it is very hard to get them on a register. However I gusse it has to stay at 16 to stop people taking advantage.

Thinking back to my high school, it was very much the girls who were randy, constantly talking about sex and pushing their boyfriends for more action. The boys on the other hand were stammering, doe eyed and very jittery. Funny how we rarely see this side of things.

I think you raise an interesting point Doug.

I think it demonstrates societies whole fear about youth, sexual purity and sex in general. I like this little jig...

On average, boys lose their viginity a year later than girls too.

my sex ed was 'men have a penis, women have a vagina. Sperm comes out of penis when they have sex and BAM baby!' and 'ladies have periods once a month, here is a cup with how much you bleed in'

then they got out a rolling pin (but warned us we would be disappointed) and put a condom on it. I also put a condom on a plastic tube.

90% of my sex ed i learn from friends and porn!
