Just wondering , last night we were out with a few friends for dinner 4 couples in total and this topic came up....the 4 lads admitted we all masterbated and we did it frequently....the ladies all declined in this matter...saying they dont do it... Which I believe isnt the truth.. What percentage do you think do it .looking at the ratio from last night it looks like
    Male 100percent / female 0 percent. I say it's more 95male / 90 female. Maybe I'm wrong.... What do you think...

Someone much cleverer than me said 95% of men regularly masturbate, and 5% are liars!

As for women? They’re a mystery. Ask on here and the majority will admit to it, but in the real world, they’re very coy.

Maybe they genuinely don’t masturbate? It’s a shame as those who do tend to have better sex as they know their bodies preferences well but it’s all personal choice.

Female masturbation is still taboo unfortunately and some people still think it’s dirty or wrong which makes me sad. I know a few women who don’t masturbate because they’ve grown up thinking that their partner should please them instead. For that reason I think the number of women masturbating is probably lower than 90%. Older generations in particular. My grandma admitted to me the other day she didn’t know where her clitoris was and I wanted to hand her a bullet and be like ‘go find it!’

As for men, I haven’t encountered many who say they don’t masturbate but I bet their percentage is lower too.

None of my friends in the vanilla world have admitted to it, even when I've been open about it. My friends in the swinging world, however, most admit to it. One or two said they didn't feel the need to or have never tried.

I think a good few do but will never admit to it, the rest are perhaps being honest. I know I didn't much until I got my first vibrator but not for want of trying with my hands first as I find that my hands just don't get me there but are a good start. I'm not afraid to answer honestly if asked but that's reflective of my attitude to all things sexual. Now it's something I do for my enjoyment, I have a good idea of what works for me and it's healthy.

I don't have any female friends who admitted they masturbate. I think most of them do, perhaps not that often - like myself lol! -, but at least sometimes. I feel that there's still a bit of a tabboo towards women's masturbation. As for men, I reckon they do, but this can be a bit overated. My husband for example does much less than me and he told me some of his male friends just do it when they've the houses for themselves and can watch a bit of porno. Again not a daily thing. I wouldn't shout out loud that I masturbate everyday, but if someone asked me in a more intimate and quiet conversation I'd no problem admitting - I think it's a very healthy habit and to be honest keeps me sane

My wife used to masturbate barely at all before discovering vibrators and toys.
I would say, given a little time to herself, probably does 2 to my 1 now....much like ToGildALily.

There is defintely a 'wink wink, nudge nudge' attitude to blokes knocking one out and, hopefully the same is happening for you ladies.
A world unafraid to enjoy and pleasure its self without any angst or judgement is i place i fancy living in ;-)

Lots of my female friends masturbate and we can have a chat and a laugh about it. I reckon a good 65% do but about 10% would admit to it. Not too sure why it is still a taboo subject.

Personally I find it helpful knowing exactly what my body enjoys and exploring myself so when it comes to partners I can guide them and let them know exactly how I like it.

I think many women stay quiet in that regard with new partners and then if there isn't fireworks in the bedroom the first couple of times, the guys get chalked up as being bad in bed and maybe vice versa.

Everyones bodies are different as well as people's preferences, so expecting someone to know exactly how to make you orgasm without being able to talk about it is down to pot luck in my eyes.

Explore yourselves ladies and have great sex!

This. I don't expect sex to be amazing for the first time with anybody because you have to get to know each other's likes, dislikes and what works between you. Plus any awkwardness is a great hindrance. Luckily I didn't have that awkwardness with my friend but there is still a whole exploration, mainly because we have kinky sides we want to share together but because we are happy to talk about sex with each other.

This is so true, upon asked in our friendship group only me amongst the girls would admit to it haha, even nowadays its considered "weird or freaky" for AFAB people to talk openly about masturbating the way AMAB people seem to do all the time- at least where i live ugh

But i admit here I do masturbate and rather regularly.

I would say majority of women masturbate, but maybe less than guys. We are just far more reluctant to admit it, even among friends. At least for me and my friends in real life, its very hard to even discuss sex, yet alone admit I masturbate? Why? I guess the social imposed block is still round. Especially for the women.

I dare say the same block is there with a partner, for fear he would view the woman as bad, etc. I did struggle with this in the past as well, being scared to tell the guy what I like.

I’m 25 years old and until this year I didn’t masterbate....so it could be genuinely that they don’t.
But I also think that a lot of females are scared to admit in the real world, if 3 of the girls who genuinely don’t said “no never” then the one who did masterbate probably wouldn’t want to admit it....

I do agree it’s very difficult as a female to admit to it, especially if you have a partner, I still feel a lot of people look at it like “why would you need to if you have a partner” not realising that it can greatly improve your sex life (and yes I admit, I was one of those people)

I only hope that it continues to become something that can be spoken more openly about but I don’t think it will ever be as “accepted” as it is about male masterbation.

I generally feel there are more taboos about female sexuality than male one. Men are more comfortable discussing sex. Even close female friends would not discuss sex, unless its extremely bad experience, when the woman needs comfort and avise. I personally find it very sad, but I know my friends view it as taboo and I try not to discuss it. Its something i only discuss here. Which is why I think LH is great.

When I've been single I do. Been with my husband 10 years now and can count on one hand the number of times I've done it since (by myself at least - I do it in front of him all the time when we are having sex) - even right now, I'm massively horny, and I'm not doing it. It much rather let it build up until he can sort me out later! To be honest though, nothing I can do feels as good as what he can do, I guess it's unusual to have a partner who's better at getting you off than you are, but honestly doing it myself doesn't compare any more. When I was younger I was all about the clitoral stimulation, but as I've gotten older it's all about internal stimulation for me, I can't reach as well as he does and no toy has the dexterity of his hands.

So I'd be happy to if I were single, but really don't do it alone now unless he's away or something.

I wonder what proportion of sex toys sold are for specific female use? I have heard that rabbit style vibes are the biggest selling toys, not sure how reliable that is, but it might suggest that there is more female solo activity than we hear openly discussed. Either way, masturbation is a private subject for many people regardless of gender
