I don't know how my other half would feel when I bring back the Fleshmicrocope or the sexy lab coat lingerie. It does seem to be like we have a few scientists around. Long live the nerds!

I just got a new one now with popper things on the front instead of stupid buttons. My old one has a variety of chemical stains from Chemistry mainly. Use the sleeves to mop up spills, not the best way to do it buy hey, it works!

I also discovered that Latex gloves are flammable! Next time I'm drying a slide over a bunsen for a Gram staining or whatever I'm going to pay attention instead of passing the slide so close to the flame!

The biggest animal I've worked with were Drosophila melanogaster and I wasn't killing them. Just crossing true breeds and doing a few calculations to map out the relative gene locations on the chromosome. I actually got quite attached to the little fellows, I mean I did grow their entire population myself.

And the cheeky little fuckers didn't even build him a statue!

I had my own little fruit fly population recently... Fruit flies love melons apparently, within two days of feeding my tortoise melon I had 3 different species of squatters!

And... errrr.... they didn't even buy me a pressie...

just found it, never know what half the stuff on it is, but i've decided the best thing is that it has poppers not buttons, so it can be ripped of :)

I love working with blood in immunology. It's really interesting to have a look through and find the different leukocytes, feels like a bit of an accomplishment when you get a sharp picture of some of the rarer ones.

God of fruit flies, now that's an interesting title. I wonder if in their simple life's they actually seen me as some divine power before I knocked them out to get a better look at each of them under the microscope. I like to think if they could have paid me tribute they would have, I bet that's what the lucky few that escaped were trying to do.
