I tend to just trim very short these days, I don't fully shave as I tend to get ingrown hairs and being diabetic, they can take months to heal and are very sore. My hairs don't grow in the same direction. I once had a wax which was an absolut nightmare. Due to my hairs growing in every direction possible, it was impossible to remove the hair. After 2 whole hours of the poor lady trying, she had to give up as I was bloodied and bruised really badly.

Now I use a lady trimmer or I find a beard trimmer to keep me neat and trim.

My wife and I both shave bare, I use a mix of a normal razor & an electric body razor, completely bare below the chest (electric for stomach, razor for genitals), my wife just uses the electric body razor in the shower, about once a week is all she uses.

Definitely prefer shaved, makes oral much more enjoyable (particularly giving, I get more feel in my mouth than if she has hair) and when receiving I find it makes my testicles more sensitive to her touch/tounge.

We did use the seiko intimate shaver bought at a sex show many years ago, that still gives a better finish than the body shaver, but not by much and the body shaver can be used in the shower, the seiko can not (which made it more of a "special occasion only" operation).

For me defiantly shaved, whilst I'm away I'll use electric trimmers but once get home I'll use wet razor.

20 years ago I asked my (then)girlfriend to shave off her natural bush , she's been smooth ever since, best thing is I get the job of sitting between her spread legs to shave her, which can easily lead to other things once bare, if you don't mind either way, try going bare and letting your partner do it for you?
She does say she feels "cleaner" even though I doubt there's a difference .
The only way is to try and see if you wish?

Always been bare myself but I'm fine either way with a partner, personally I think it's nice for someone to look after themselves so a little trim at least. But if someone came at me with a beast of a bush I'd battle my way through it like a champion.
I still think it's odd that the porn industry and other things in life make it almost taboo or embarrassing to have natural hair growing down there.

Recently started waxing down there (had my second one not so long back) and though it hurts (quick two second pain) the result after is amazing. No razor bumps, no itching, you know that pain when your hair is growing back and you run your hand (or knickers) over it against the grain? Yeah, don't get that pain too. After having my first wax I just could not believe I had put it off for so long in fear of the pain. For me personally it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would and I am a major wuss!! Definitely prefer waxing over shaving - Brazilian all the way! Don't have to worry about regrowth for a few weeks. Whereas shaving would give me a five o clock damn shadow by the evening and the itching was horrendous!!

Sabrina, thanks for fab advice, just wondered if you wax at home or get it done by someone? I'm not sure I'm ready to bare all to someone I don't know but might try and kit from boots

I seem to be in the minority though, as a lot of people on the forum seem to be really happy removing all of their pubic hair.I think it all depends on how dense your hair is and how sensitive your skin is, and how quickly your body regenerates hair. I have the impossible combo of dense hair, sensitive skin and PH, and really fast regrowth.

I now have my own personal reasons for choosing not to remove my body hair.

What I did want to drop in to say is don't let anyone pressure you into removing your body hair. Do it only if its something you want to do for you. I worry a lot that people think it is expected of them, or because a sexual partner has told them to, and it can bring a lot of emotional torment trying to keep it hair free. Your body is just as beautiful however you style it. I'm saying this because I wish someone had said it to me 10 years ago.

Jezebella thank you so much for your advice and kind words of support just want to reassure you my partner and I have a strong level of communication and he definitely wouldn't pressure me into something I didn't want to do. I feel up for trying it once, but if it's too painful or difficult to maintain I'll be telling him so!! Xxxx

IMO, I have some experience waxing, trying to do it yourself will go badly. You need to use a warm wax or sugaring kit to remove the hair from your labia. There is no way you can apply that yourself first time, it may be possible with a lot of practice but self waxing presents additional challenges beyond just normal waxing which is easy to mess up painfully.

Seriously it is in your interest to find a pofessional service, watch some youtube clips to see what goes on, a real pro can have you hairless in 10 - 15 minutes and after that first strip, embarassment wont cross your mind again lol, and it will be over before you know it.

A vagina is a beautiful thing regardless, but being bare it is just on display and giving oral is so much fun, my partner likes it bare but isnt worth the pain to wax all the time, so she just does it for a few months at a time once or twice a year.

If you decide to wax, plan to go three times before giving up. The first time is less comfortable than subsequent visits, so you may think it hurts too much when 3-4 times down the road that pain will be much reduced.

Waxing should not remove skin, it sounds like wrong type of wax for the application or poor service. A good quality brazillian wax should not adhere to skin at all, it literally only grabs the hairs, which is why it is so suitable for sensitive skin. It is still normal to have a fair amount of inflamation and irritation afterward for up to 24 hours, after all its not a very nice thing to do to your skin in truth.

You highlight a good point though, regrowth rates do matter, some people regrow quicker than others and the prospect of getting waxed every 2 weeks is a lot different than every 3-4.

    It definately isnt for everyone.

I went to my local salon and had a Hollywood, apparently that's everything removed. It felt fabulous and it was done by Sugaring, not Waxing. The beautician said that it's much less painful and to be honest it didn't hurt very much at all. I've let it grow back a bit since then and gone back to using a trimmer on myself. I have to say though that my hairs seem to be stronger, so maybe I should have just stuck with the trimmer in the first place.

OH is all natural. I think I'd like to see her with some sort of removal, not entirely anyway. A nice landing strip or just trimmed up, I'm like most guys and am visually stimulated. I also don't like that prickly feeling when I first enter, its like barbed wire (I shave my and try to stay trimmed up). Given our issues it may help to see what's going on and increase sensitivity for her? Any benefits during her monthly as far as hygiene for her?

Hair removal isn't more hygenic, pubic hair acts as the vagina's defense against bad bacteria entering it, so as long as you are washing regularly having pubic hair can actually lead to a healthier vagina than removing it. I also read somewhere that completely removing pubic hair can increase your chances of catching an STD, something to do with tiny cuts from shaving or exposed folicules from waxing meaning there is easier access to the blood stream. I'm not sure how true that is though, it was one of those articles where I think the scientists did find that but the press release probably missed the point of STDs are less likely to be spread if you get checked regularly and use barriers. In terms of the bad prickly ness for you, have you tried using a decent amount of lube? It may help.

I like hairless, I think it's cos I prefer the smooth look, I'm not really fussed if it's waxed or shaved or whatever. But for me so long as it's clean down there I don't really mind.

A good trim to keep things tidy is all you really need, but if you fancy giving it a try then go for it, it'll always grow back so there's nothing to lose.

You might even find that you prefer it yourself, it is your choice after all.
