    Nerve-wracking presentations, exams, endless essays...

Surviving your studies can be a real pain, because completing all this work takes away from the time you could be spending in between the sheets.

But what if we told you that sex could actually help you with the demands of your studies?

If that sounds too good to be true, read on to find out 6 ways sex can help your studies.

    Horny and Healthy

This study has us thinking that doctors should consider prescribing more sex as we head into cold and flu season.

Researchers compared university students who had lots of sex, sex a few times a week and no sex at all. They found that the group who had sex a few times a week had the highest levels of an antibody known as immunoglobulin A in their saliva. This antibody helps to fight off infections and the common cold, so a steady amount of sex could keep you fighting fit for your exams!

    Stress Less

Not only is sex good for your body, it's good for the mind, too! Experiencing a moderate amount of stress is a normal part of preparing for exams, but stressing too much isn't conducive to studying at all.

It seems like a catch 22, but it turns out that sexytime can help to relieve this anxiety.

Having sex tends to reduce your overall stress levels and, for some people, make blood pressure less reactive to stress factors. How very zen!

    Headache? What Headache?

A 2013 study conducted in Germany found that 37% of cluster headache sufferers and 60% of migraine sufferers felt better after doing the horizontal mambo!

This is because sex releases serotonin, oxytocin and endorphins into your system. These feel-good chemicals take your mind off the throbbing in your temples and onto the throbbing in your – well, we think you get the drift.

The next time you feel a headache coming on after a big study session, you'll know what to do!

    A Good Night's Rest

You can't expect to perform well in your exams if you don't get your eight hours sleep. But what can you do if your mind is racing and you're struggling to doze off?

Well luckily for you, a 2019 study discovered that having an orgasm before bed, either from a partner or from a successful solo session, produced "favourable sleep outcomes" – aka not only getting to sleep faster but experiencing better quality sleep as well.

So, the next time you have an early morning exam, get busy with your partner, reach for your favourite vibrator or combine the two for a blissful night's slumber.

I Can Think Clearly Now The Sex Is Done

Trying to start that dreaded essay but can't seem to see the forest from the trees? Sounds like you're in desperate need some clarity, and we know a great way to get it!

University of Maryland researchers discovered that having regular sex allows for the creation of new neurons in the brain (a process known as neurogenesis) and improves our cognitive function, allowing us to think clearly.

So put down the books, grab a willing partner and have the kind of sex that could literally blow your mind!

    Master Your Memory

You're sat in the examination room staring at a multiple choice question. The answer's in your brain somewhere but you just can't find it!

We've all been there – but it shouldn't be that way! A 2010 study found that sex is responsible for cell growth in the hippocampus, the area of the brain that's in charge of our long-term memory.

So be sure to use those flash cards, those topic summaries and that sex drive of yours next time you're revising!

These are 6 ways that sex can help your studies but remember, bonking alone won't send you to the top of the class – you might need to open a textbook for that!
