Ann Widdecombe Snubs BlueBella at Women of Worth Awards 2011
Bendell was due to be presented the Small Business of the Year Award by Ann Widdecombe, who was guest of honour at the annual ceremony, celebrating women's contribution to business.
After seeing a short film outlining Bendell's lingerie and lovestuff business, Widdecombe swiftly declined to present the award to her, leaving her standing until one of the organisers quickly stepped in.
"It was a real surprise to me that it happened at an event that was meant to celebrate the success of women. It certainly took the shine out of the day for me," said Bendell. "Ann is a great proponent of women getting ahead by their own merits so I would have hoped that she would have recognised my acheivements."
Ann eventually agreed to have a photo taken with Emily, off-stage, and without the award.
