5 Lubes for 5 Jobs - A Lube for All Occasions?

After my sleepless night last night pondering "America's Favorite" lube, I've had lubes on the brain all day. Which is not un-distracting at work, though it does make for some amusing conversations with your officemates when you ponder which lube would best make for coffee mug sliding races on the desk. (We thought it would be a heavy silicone based lube, if you were curious - though you should feel free to try it out for yourselves)

While I may still not know what "America's Favorite" is, or even how that is defined, I do know some good lubes that serve their own purposes. It is always a sound idea to match the lube to the job, so I present to you:

1.
ID Juicy Lube Pillow 10 Pack
Bringing a flavoured lube to the bedroom is one of the easiest things a couple can try to spice up their sex lives a bit (hee! Literally!) . It is infinitely adaptable (Oral? Check. Massage? Check. Intercourse? Check) and being water-based, you can really go wild with toys and play. I love that this pack actually gives you all the flavours in the line, so you don't have to commit to one giant bottle until you know you're ready to lick it up.

2. Tracey Cox Supersex Love Lube
Everyone needs to have a good all-purpose lube to hand and what better than to choose a lube that has aloe in it to sooth you after more rambunctious sessions? If you're got a full weekend planned, using a lube that acts as a natural moisturizer can help reduce the Cowboy Walk on Monday. This one is also water-based, so makes a great addition to playing with toys, as well as with a partner. Adding a few drabs of this when you're using condoms will also make things feel much smoother.

3. Durex Play Mint Tingle
I am a little biased towards the Durex Tingle when looking for a lubricant that will just "add an extra sensation" - this one is my all-time favourite lube. It has a lightly minty flavour which is enjoyable during oral sex, and the sensations range from warming to tingly - just something slightly different, which is sometimes all you want in bed. Again, it is water-based so is completely safe with all your toys and condoms. I just love this one - slippery, tingly, minty. You really couldn't ask for much more.

4. Doc Johnson Anal Lubricant
Choosing a good anal lubricant is absolutely key to enjoying anal play (I'm going to assume that you haven't tried to do it without because - boy howdy! - that is not a good idea). Too much lube, as they say, is just right with anal and I like to go for a thicker lube than I normally use, so that it stays in place longer. This one is oil-based, so it will be safe with all of your toys, but you need to make sure that if you're using it with condoms that you use only non-latex. If you need to choose something else, I recommend that you veer away from desensitizing anal lubes. I know they're all the rage, but really, in this area, it is good to be able to feel everything that is going on. Being too numb to immediately realize that damage is done is not cool. Play safe, peeps.

5. ID Millennium Silicone Lube
All these water-based lubes won't do you a bit of good if you're looking for a spot of water play. Sex in the tub or pool or ocean always sounds like a sexy idea, but seriously, doing it without some lube that will stick around quickly turns less fun. Water-based lubes will wash right off (naturally), so a silicone based lube is just the ticket. Thicker than ordinary lubes, this one will spread on right where you want it and last a long time. You do have to be careful, though, and remember not to let it touch your silicone toys. It will burn right through them. Which...is kind of cool to watch, but not so great for your toys.

Lubes are sometimes overlooked as the not-so-exciting part of playing with toys, but the addition or lack of the right lube can make all the difference between damn good fun and a quickly cut short evening. There are a ton of lubes out there and most are very reasonably priced, so dive in and try out as many as it takes to get the perfect lube for ever job.
