    1. Oral sex's new best friend

Reviewed: 05 July 2014 by myghost, a Straight Single Female

This bottle of lube arrived in the usual discreet manner and I was looking forward to giving it a spin.

System JO Vanilla Cream Flavoured Lubricant comes in a generous 150ml bottle with a tamper seal on top to make sure no one has opened the bottle beforehand. I have tried another System JO lube before but it was so thick and jelly-like it wouldn't pour out the bottle. I was relieved to notice JO free flowing inside, which was a good start

Tamper seal removed, the opening mechanism of the bottle is a pop-up lid. You press the red strip and the top pops up. Sometimes I can find pumps and bottle tops hard to use. This one was a dream. Little pressure required with one finger. There is a small hole in which the lube comes out. I tipped the bottle to squeeze some lube out and it flowed out on its own, no squeezing required, which I liked. Smell-wise, one sniff and you can recognise the lush warm scent of vanilla.

Next came the all important taste test. If your experience of flavoured lubricants is something nasty tasting, sickly syrupy sweet, sticky, artificial, synthetic, bitter after taste, you've been left wondering what happened to the flavour stated on the bottle. Like mine has been. This is different.

On the tongue it starts sweet, then you are hit with a definite yet not overpowering vanilla flavour. While the bottle states there is no after-taste, there is a hint of one. The flavour is so good that if this wasn't lubricant I'd be drizzling it over dessert in place of ice cream or custard. Heck I'd drink it right out of the bottle. If System JO's other chocolate, mint or fruity flavoured lubes are as good in terms of taste, I'd have no problem trying them.

As a lube the consistency is thin enough that you can easily drizzle it whereever you want on the body. Thick enough it won't run off like water.

On the skin it was long-lasting. As it was drying it got a little tacky. Nothing I wouldn't expect from a flavoured lubricant, but it didn't leave a film or residue.

On sensitive areas I didn't feel anything unpleasant. If you are sensitive to glycerine (plant-based) or parabens you should avoid using this.

In use it didn't need frequent reapplying or go sticky. For oral sex you're going to have licked and sucked off all the vanilla deliciousness before it has the chance to anyway.

System JO's tag line is "Your new best friend". One taste of Vanilla Creem lube and for oral sex this may well be your new best friend.

Easy use pop-up top. Delicious vanilla taste.
      Bottom line
Looking for a lube that tastes exactly as promised. JO vanilla is just that.

    1. I've tasted better, but it's not all bad

Reviewed: 03 September 2014 by DavidB1986, a Gay Married Male

I'm not entirely sure why I ordered this. I have a chest full of Lovehoney's own brand flavoured lubricants, that I don't really need any more. But anything that's vanilla/chocolate scented/flavoured always grabs my attention, and I thought "Oh what the hell!" and added it to my basket of anniversary goodies.

      First Impressions:

This is a good sturdy bottle. It also doesn't really look like a bottle of lubricant. Looks more like a fancy shower-gel or can of deodorant - so if you left it on the bed side table - unless you are reading it right up close, no one would be any the wiser.

It's got a push-button opening - simply press the red button and the lid pops open. The lube inside as at runny enough consistency that you don't need to squeeze the bottle too hard in order to dispense (which is great when your hands are already slippery!).

The scent is perfectly balanced. Rich enough that you can tell it's vanilla, but not at all over-powering. It smells really comforting.

      In use/taste:

During use the lube goes on nicely. It's quite runny, so do be warned - but thankfully it's not so watery it goes everywhere - but easy enough to spread it wherever it needs to be. It's slick and slippery and whilst it will dry up eventually, it doesn't happen to quickly - although when it does, it does feel a little tacky - but I found either just an extra blob or lube or a tiny bit of water brought back up to slippery instead of sticky.

Now down to the important part - taste. This is where it loses me a little, but not much. Initially, when I first tasted it, I didn't really taste Vanilla - I tasted medicine. I was disheartened immediately - however I persisted, and found that actually, after it's warmed up a little bit on the body - it tastes much better. It's sweet but not sickly, and despite the claims on the bottle, it does leave an after-taste - but not a wholly unpleasant one.

Flavoured lubes are always a bit of a gamble - they either taste nothing like what they are supposed too, or it's too strong and tastes like your chomping down on some nasty medicine. The System JO lube is sort of happy middle ground - The scent is perfect, the consistency and slickness of the lube is more than satisfactory (and it's a good size bottle too) - the taste is a little off initially, but stick with it and it gets better.

Good size bottle, easy to use, even when slippery, great scent, consistency.
Initially tastes quite medicine-y, but gets better as it warms up.
      Bottom line
One of the better flavoured lubes, but still not the best.
