Excellent little toy
Reviewed: 13 January 2015 by SecretAlex, a Straight Married Female
Having always liked the idea of my OH taking control of my pleasure, we have tried a few remote control love eggs over the years, but none have stood up to this.
The shape of this little egg is just right and creates sensations in just the right places. It has enough power, is not too noisy, and the remote control works even over clothes (ideal for use in more public spaces).
The OH loves getting me worked up with this little beauty, as well as using it for a little extra stimulation during intercourse. I love the fact that it was packed discreetly and was shipped in a timely fashion, and especially love this little storage bag that come with it.
Overall, having had disappointing results from other remote control toys, I am rather pleased with this one and would highly recommend it.
- Powerful but discreet, and remote works well.
- Bottom line

Sunny side up or over easy

Three things set this egg apart - the quality of the silicone, the size of the egg and its unique double bump shape.
The Maia is made from a lovely soft, impeccably smooth silicone which is a pleasure to hold and use. There aren't any noticeable seams or ridges across the body, just a faint hollow on either side with a very gentle slope. The smoothness lends itself to stroking and makes the Maia egg a great clit and labia vibe, with the side contour nestling gently over those curves or skimming along them. Lovely, oh so lovely that way.
The first bump is on the petite side, just 3 7/8 inches around. I like to use that much internally to focus vibrations on the important first inch where there are so many nerve endings. I especially like being able to clench around the narrower middle section. Lots of fun and the stimulation really helps me with Kegel clenches. As in more intense with less difficulty than any other active method I've tried. That's a wonderful and unexpected bonus from a very nice toy.
The second bump is 4 3/8 inches in circumference. The overall size is somewhat smaller than most standard Kegel balls, but the Maia egg is more comparable to them than conventional eggs, particularly in length. My kitchen scales put the Maia egg (with battery) at 79 g too, again comparable to many Kegel sets. The general rule of thumb is that smaller and heavier gives a more demanding workout, so we can probably consider this egg to be somewhere in the beginner to intermediate range. With vibrations even - pay close attention all you ladies who are moaning because a book does more for you than your jiggle balls.
As an egg, this is a good one. The tip end has relatively buzzy vibrations; I'm not usually a fan of those, but they work well for me here. It does vary with battery type though. I accidentally used a rechargeable (no problems getting it back out happily) and the quality of vibration was noticeably different and also quieter. The Maia tends to give me G-spot type reactions too. I'm not the average size/shape this way, what works for the majority of other women tends not to be so good for me. If you're in the same boat, this might suit you well.
Not having a wired controller to put somewhere makes this an especially easy one to wear for chores or going about. I find that it feels quite different depending on my posture. Sometimes I don't really feel anything while I'm standing, but then I move and it's very much there.
Eggs tend to have relatively diffuse vibrations. Generally speaking, they're not going to be as intensely focused as a bullet or as powerful as a larger vibe. If you're expecting an egg to compare on either of those, you're likely to be disappointed. Use an egg for its strengths though, and they shine. Foreplay, build-up, next to nothing to get in the way of oral or an external vibe, a hand-held controller you can position where you want…. They're good toys.
This isn't a power queen beast; no non-wired, battery-powered egg will be, there just isn't room for more juice. The Maia is strong for a single AA battery vibe though, with the strongest vibrations along the side of the tip. It's easy and comfortable to move from the tip to the side to the length of the egg to suit your pleasure. That's a lot of versatility in a small vibe.
Given all of that and what it does to my G-spot, this is the first egg which has been enough for me on its own. I love the Maia's foreplay and build-up aspects and its versatility. Taking it slow and edging myself into a stronger orgasm usually means changing vibes or adding a second toy along the way. WIth the Maia egg, it's simply changing the way I'm holding or using the vibe. And I can always add something else if I want as well.
This and a bullet would be a great travel combo, able to please most of my wants in a minimum of space. It is definitely my favourite egg and I expect it will stay at or near the top for a good long while.
Packaging is tasteful and colourful. The 'novelty use only' sticker is the only certain indication that there's a delightful sex toy inside. There are basic care instructions, but nothing for use. The vibe is well enough designed though that this isn't a problem. It really is easy to use in every way. The Maia people have thoughtfully included an N-battery; you'll need a AA as well.
A small storage bag is included. It holds the egg comfortably and will stretch to also accommodate the controller. The materials are similar enough though that I wouldn't recommend storing the egg and controller together on a regular or extended basis lest they melt into each other.
The range for remote control seems good but not the best. My initial impression was that I'd never be comfortable wearing it in public (at least while it's running), but it's really not all that loud, especially when I used a rechargeable battery instead. And yes, it does take the slightly larger size of a rechargeable without any problem. On a test trip, I walked down a crowded but quiet aisle with it on and no one appeared to take the least bit notice.
Discretion isn't exactly its strength though - the controller has a light which pulses with the patterns and holds brightly steady for the speeds. In the bedroom, that's great. A partner has some feedback as to what's going on and it makes a great wee torch for finding the lube. It also makes it easy to find if set down or dropped while it's running. Outside or in a well-light store, visibility varied. I often had to shadow it with my hand to see the light, but other times it was pretty clear.
The controller is small (it sits in a female hand very comfortably) and is easy to use. Well designed ridges on the underside put your thumb in exactly the right place without looking. There's an on-off button and another just above to cycle through the speeds and patterns. The off button turns it off immediately. All of which means someone who's willing to be careful can probably use it in public without it being obvious.
If your out-of-house antics are more likely to be out of doors rather than candle-lit restaurants then the light has advantages. I could see this being great fun somewhere like a noisy train.
The egg cap does let the overall materials quality down, it's that chrome-effect coated plastic. Otherwise the build and design are excellent. Both battery compartments open and close readily and may just be the least fiddly I've used. In a waterproof toy, that's quite an achievement.
And did I mention how delightfully smooth the curving surface is?
- Love the shape, quality of the silicone and build. Also works for kegel exercises.
- Chrome-plated top.
- Bottom line
- Great egg with a unique and effective shape.

Maia Wicked Remote Control Vibrating Egg
Reviewed: 25 April 2014 by KRT, a Straight Married Male
First, a kind word to Lovehoney; You were the only adult toy website which carries the Maia Wicked toy that stated "a retrieval loop makes removal safe and easy". Those are the words I needed to read before considering purchasing the unit. A total zero from the many other websites I went to which sell the unit regarding the retrieval loop. Thanks!
Okay, forward to the Maia Wicked Egg.
I measured the length of the egg and found it to be 4" - the same as stated by Lovehoney. I also measured the maximum diameter of the egg and it was 1-3/8". Lovehoney gives the circumference as 4.5 inches which when calculated to diameter is 1-7/16". I'd say that is good agreement. Other websites had the maximum diameter stated from a low of 1-1/4" to a high of 1-1/2".
I used the egg as an anal toy. After inserting the egg there was still some of the loop "outside". I used it with the controller on for about 30 minutes. Then checked again and some of the loop was still outside. I also gave a "push" and the egg came out with no difficulty. Then it was back inside for an extended period of time. More later on this.
Regarding the intensity of the vibrations overall, I agree with the comment made by Rose Hip - "This isn't a power queen beast ---". However, the sensations/vibrations are pleasant. I can feel the vibrations on my tail bone. And sometimes in certain positions I can feel the vibrations in my hips. When I say "feel the vibrations", that is taking my hand and actually touching my tail bone and hips with my hand. One egg that I have used does give somewhat more intense sensations/vibrations however it is not as reliable being an "all in one" unit.
Well, 2-1/2 hours later the vibrator is still going, but the vibrations are getting a bit weaker. That's better than what you would get with a rechargeable vibe. Time to call an end to this first experiment. A gentle "push" and the egg was out in daylight. After a gentle wash I dried it off and then unscrewed the egg. WOW, not a drop of water, not even an indication of moisture. This egg is REALLY waterproof. Bravo to Maia.
Use this egg as an anal toy at your own risk and discretion.
And, by all means do read the review by Rose. Many good thoughts.
- Easy to use and pleasant sensations.
- Diameter a bit small and motor a bit noisy.
- Bottom line
- A pleasant egg to use.
