    1. It's electric

Reviewed: 23 December 2013 by LilMissFrustrated, a Straight Going Steady Female

I bought this machine before Lovehoney stocked them. My mum has suffered from a prolapse brought on by weakened floor muscles due to child birth and I didn't want to suffer from the same fate. I haven't had children but my muscles aren't as strong as they used to be due to the natural ageing process. The machine can be used alongside your pelvic floor exercises.

The Itouch stimulator has four programmes. Three cover incontinence, the fourth is known as Tone as is used to keep your muscles in tip top condition once they have been restored. There are three types of incontinence all explained in detail in the booklet supplied. It is very informative and I recommend you read it thoroughly before starting out. There is stress incontinence - involuntary leakage of urine when a person coughs or sneezes. Urge incontinence - an over active bladder or mixed - a combination of both and this machine has programmes to aid all types.

In addition, if your bladder is too overactive you can purchase pads rather than use a probe or if you suffer from faecal incontinence, an anal probe can be purchased. The helpline number is in the back of the booklet. I realise that some may use it purely for pleasure along the e-stim lines but it also has a serious medical side which doesn't involve drugs or maybe an operation.

The probe is lubed up first using a water-based lube or water and is inserted into the vagina like a tampon until just the flange is visible. Please ensure you go to the toilet before you start. Then to switch it on you just press and hold the start button for three seconds and select the type of programme you want.

You can alter the strength of the stimulation but please err on the side of caution because over stimulation is going to be very uncomfortable and you won't know until the next day. Trust me on this!!As your muscles become more toned you can increase the level. After learning my lesson, I started at 50 and worked upwards to 70, it goes up to 100 so I've a long way to go.

The preset time is 20 minutes but you can manually override this to 10, 30, 45, 60 and 90 mins but I've just used the 20 minute setting for now.

It's hard to describe the feeling when you are being stimulated. The nearest I can get is when you stop and start weeing mid flow and you can feel your muscles working, it's like that but obviously much quicker and repeated for 20 minutes. All programmes cycle between work and rest to allow your muscles to recover, hence the pulsing feeling in your vagina.

Another positive side is strengthened floor muscles can lead to better sex and improved orgasms, I'm still at the early stages so I can't comment as yet on this.

If you are worried at all about weakened muscles, then try this machine. Its very easy to use, the booklet is comprehensive and it could make such a difference. I've noticed much less leaking, especially when sneezing, although I must admit I didn't have too much to start with. It could also improve your sex life. Win win situation.

    1. It 'sure' seems to work (sorry)

Reviewed: 06 January 2014 by Cornish89, a Straight Engaged Female

The pelvic floor exerciser arrived quickly and in discreet packaging as per usual with Lovehoney.

The exerciser comes in a white and purple box with a picture of the Itouch Sure on the front and a summary of what it does and how it does it.

Make no mistake this is not a luxury item. The Itouch Sure is not something that will wow you with its stunning packaging and design. It is an item designed to do a job and that job is to improve the strength of your pelvic floor muscles.

Inside the box is the Itouch Sure, a connection lead, the electrode, 2 AA batteries, a storage pouch and an instruction booklet. The storage pouch is clear plastic with a ziplock seal and is so brittle that when I carefully unfolded mine it promptly split down one seam.

The Sure itself is made from plastic and not particularly good plastic at that. It feels really quite brittle and like it would break if you were to drop it (I didn't test this out as I don't actually want to risk breaking it, my pelvic floor needs some major help!).

It has a display screen to show what programme you are on, time remaining and strength setting and 7 buttons: on, off, programme, time, strength up, strength down and a lock button.

The Itouch has 4 different programmes: stress (for treating stress incontinence e.g. weeing a little when you cough/sneeze), urge (for treating urge incontinence e.g. when you get a sudden urge to go to the toilet and can't hold it in), mixed (for treating mixed incontinence which is both stress and urge incontinence) and tone (for toning and strengthening the pelvic floor which could potentially improve sexual enjoyment).

To use the Itouch Sure you essentially connect the leads to the probe and control unit, lube up and insert the probe, select the desired programme, time and strength and off you go! Sounds simple right?

I decided to try the stress setting first as after 2 children relatively close together my pelvic floor isn't in tip top condition. I'm fine when coughing or sneezing but some things like trampolining or jumping for more than about 30 seconds are a no-go!

I read through the instructions carefully and saw that in order for it to be working I had to feel the muscles contracting. I inserted the probe using a little water based lubricant and then switched the unit on.

I selected the stress programme and the recommended time of 20minutes and off I went. Having previously read that some may start at a strength or 40 and others at 60 I quickly skipped it up to 40 and felt nothing, 50 and 60 were both the same!

I knew the unit was working after holding it in my hand before using it to test it out. At 68 I started to feel my pelvic floor contracting, it felt really odd and almost painful at first until I had gotten used to it and after a couple of minutes I could easily ignore it.

The way the programmes work is by having a 'rest' period in between each contraction where the strength drops down to zero and then slowly builds back up to the strength level you had set it on, causing another contraction. It feels like you are just working the muscles yourself as if you were doing pelvic exercises but slightly more buzzy (not in a good vibrator kind of way!). I didn't gain any pleasure from it at all.

The fact that the base of the probe and the attached wire stay outside of you means that ideally you need to be lying down or reclined to use the exerciser, which for me is not a problem as I was glad of the excuse to put my feet up! After my 20 minutes was up I took the probe out cleaned it by washing it in warm soapy water, rinsing and then drying as recommended in the instructions.

The next day I woke up to some really quite painful cramps that felt like period pains.

Supposedly these cramps are possible for the first few sessions as according to the instruction manual they are the same reaction you would get to any unaccustomed exercise. If you experience these it is recommended to wait until they go away before continuing using so I had a day off. The day after I tried again and had the same cramps the next day. And then again after another day off but I think they are no longer as painful. The fact I am getting the cramping after pains shows me that the it is working my pelvic floor muscles, however it is a bit early still to see any mentionable difference in them.

I will continue to use the Itouch as I think it is a great way to work the muscles (and have a guaranteed 20 minute lie down!). I would really recommend it as it does seem to actually work the muscles so I cannot see why it will not improve my pelvic floor muscle strength over time.
