Took me a little time to get into the writing style because it was set in I think the Victorian era or something.

Once I got into it though I fell in love!! It's a great book, well written and if you like Silvia Day and The Crossfire Series (which I also like) then you'll love this book.

Just give it a little time, perfect to take away on holiday but not the sort you can pick up and put down for weeks before resuming it.

    1. Couldn't put it down

I was intending to read this book on holiday but I've finished it a week before I go - enough said really!

I liked the book mostly because of the writing style, it made me want to dig deeper into Eliza's story. The writing can either make or break a book and I didn't enjoy Fifty Shades for the simple fact that I thought the writing was awful.

Despite my initial skepticism of the book, it really interacts with the reader and is certainly worth a read! I can't wait to get stuck into some more Sylvia Day!

    1. When it's good it is very very good

I really enjoyed this book, but I think it is better to come to reading it without expectations.

The storyline to me was captivating as a mystery, but I must admit it does take nearly half the book to get down to the naughty bits!

Despite some anachronisms, Day mostly kept the book in the 1800s and has a really fluid writing style. The tension was built quite nicely, but as I said before for a bit too long for my needs!

When Pride and Pleasure gets steamy though, it is fantastic. The characters are so likeable and believable and you can really feel Eliza and Jasper's chemistry.

If you're looking for a vanilla erotic read with a strong mystery plot then this is a good choice, but in terms of erotica in general it wasn't one I couldn't put down.

Sexy bits were hot! And there were great characters.
      Cons
Took too long to get naughty!
      Bottom line
Slow moving erotically but good plot underlying it all.
