Sleek design, powerful yet quiet vibrations, great results
Reviewed: 12 Nov 2012 by Hero777, a Single Straight Male
First impressions after opening the box are that this is a quality product! It comes in a fancy black case, with the vibrator tied in place with soft black velvet string. It feels quite heavy, and a lot of thought has obviously gone into the design. Also in the box is a small charging cable.
It's entirely silicone finished, with just two small silver buttons near the base which also serve as the charging point, which are smooth and almost unnoticeable. This means that it's completely smooth all over, with no buttons or knobs sticking out, no wires hanging off, no clip to remove a battery, or anything like that - just smooth silicone all over. It feels solid and weighty, and is definitely a well-built product. I'm certain this one will last for a very long time. It's of a decent size, which combined with the bulbous shape makes it good for penetration, while the powerful motor is great for clit stimulation.
Turning it on sets the motor purring very gently, and on its lowest setting it really is almost silent, even in the dead of night when you could hear a pin drop. Continue pressing the '+' button and it gets faster and faster, and every time you think it can't possibly go any faster, it does! The motor does obviously get louder as you turn the speed up, but even on the highest setting it remains one of the quietest vibrators I've ever heard. Definitely a plus if you live in shared accommodation!
Press the '+' once more and it starts to go into the various vibration patterns, of which there are about 10, offering various throbs and the like. To go back to steady vibrations you just press the '-' button to step back through the patterns until it returns to the highest steady vibration speed.
The '+' and '-' buttons also double as the charging point, the included charging cable has an fitting on one end which attaches magnetically to the two buttons, whilst on the other end is a USB plug, so it will charge off of anything with a USB socket. While that versatility is nice, the cable is unique to this vibrator, so if it were to be damaged or lost, you would need to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
When the vibe gets low on battery, attempting to start it results in the motor giving a little protest "rev" instead of going into the gentle slow speed setting. On the one hand this means that you do definitely need to charge it, unlike many other vibrators which would allow you to run on weak batteries (obviously with weak results), so some people may consider this to be a downside. On the other hand, this does mean that it doesn't allow the battery to get so weak as to prevent it from functioning, which means it's not going to "die" on you while you're using it, and leave you frustrated!
The only real problem we had with this was that the manual, being all of about 30 words, was translated quite poorly into English, and doesn't explain at all how to turn it off. In fact what you need to do is repeatedly press the '-' button to turn it down to the lowest setting (simply holding the button doesn't work - you need to press it over and over), THEN when it's on the lowest setting, hold the button for approximately 3 seconds and it turns off. This isn't at all obvious, and resulted in a few rather hilarious "oh my god I can't turn it off" moments!
Aside from that, it's a brilliant vibrator - it's getting continual use, and I really couldn't recommend it highly enough.
- Really sleek, simple design, with no fiddly controls or attached wires. Quiet too.
- Difficult to turn off!
- Bottom line
- Fantastic. Works brilliantly. Bit difficult to turn off though.

Not so amazing Grace

As soon as I got this out of the discreet brown box I could tell that it was a luxury toy. The box is gorgeous, black and sturdy with a stretchy band around it and a picture of Grace on the front (mine's purple). But the box is unfortunately the best thing about this toy.
You are provided with a USB charger and instructions which aren't clear at all. There are spelling mistakes and there is no way of knowing how long to charge the toy for.
The vibrator itself is quite big. I'd say it looks like an enlarged bullet due to the shape. It sort of looks like an hourglass, with the middle smaller than the top and bottom.
The controls are used as a charging point and are magnetic. One thing I found with these after a few washes - they go rusty. Seeing as this is supposedly waterproof I'm pretty sure that shouldn't happen from cleaning only as I haven't used this in the bath or shower. The two controls are easy to use, just a + and - which is pretty self explanatory.
In terms of using this toy - I hate how pointy it is. It's very uncomfortable and almost painful to use because it feels like you're getting stabbed from the inside. I thought it could be better as a clitoral vibe, however the vibrations in the tip aren't that powerful therefore it wasn't very good. It also feels like the silicone is very thick and the vibrations don't penetrate through it enough. The vibrations just aren't powerful enough for me. I thought the toy would have more of a kick due to being rechargeable. This is described as a 'soft vibrator' though so I think that's why it feels like the silicone is too thick, to allow for that flexibility. I have to say, I'd rather have the power than the flexibility.
Another thing that really bugged me was that I just couldn't get the box to close properly after putting Grace back in. It just wouldn't happen, I guess that's why you get the band to hold the box together.
I really didn't like this vibrator, mainly because of its size but mostly because there are just too many things not quite right with it. And when you're paying this kind of money you want something of the same standard as Lelo, and Grace is far from that.
It does look beautiful and it is fairly quiet but it just didn't do its job, no matter how much I wanted it to.
- Soft silicone feels nice.
- Pointy tip and too big.
- Bottom line
- Not good enough for a luxury toy.
