    1. Product Description

Rowan Cassidy spends her time enjoying the unfettered pleasures of being a mistress in her element. With a position at Club Privé, the most exclusive BDSM club on the West Coast, all of her desires are catered for... until she meets Christian Thorne.

Her attraction to Christian is instant, but how can a dominant and a dominant ever work together? As Rowan's attraction deepens, she begins to question her dominant status and what she needs to fullfil her needs, both sexually and in a partner.

Christian's requited longing for Rowan leads him to offer her a unique kind of dating prospect. For thirty days she will give herself over to him completely, stepping into a submissive's shoes for the first time and beginning the exploration of her sexuality from a whole new perspective.

What unravels is an emotional rollercoaster of questions, passion, lust and self-discovery in this irresistible addition of erotica to the Black Lace collection.

    1. How can something so dark feel so right?

Reviewed: 07 November 2012 by HappilyExperimenting, a Bisexual Single Female

I am not part of the BDSM community and do not own a flogger or any other type of bondage toy. The furthest I have ever ventured into this area of sex is to receive some satin wrist restraints which I have little use for, being single. So imagine my surprise when I picked up this beautifully well-written book which made my heart race and knees weaken!

We are introduced to Rowan, a sexy, confident dominant who is a firm favourite at Club Privé - the most exclusive BDSM club on the West Coast. She is a superb mistress but is coming to a crossroads in her life. She feels at a loss despite having the world (and most boys) at her feet - literally! - and although she is a great mistress and is lusted after by many submissives, she cannot let go of her past to find peace for herself.

I empathised with Rowan from the word 'go' - we are not told much about her physical appearance until she meets Christian and then we see her through his eyes. She focuses more on the other members of the Club instead of allowing herself to appreciate her beauty and clearly has underlying confidence issues like any new dominant woman pursuing a new path in BDSM. But wait, I hear you say - Rowan isn't new to BDSM, she's been in the scene for years! And you are quite right dear readers, but from reading the first few pages we can tell something happened to Rowan a while back, severely damaging her self-esteem and causing her to doubt herself. Rowan is a real character, that girl we see at the back of the lecture hall all alone, or that girl who always jogs up the main road at 6pm. We can imagine her in our heads and weave her into our own person - she could be a size twenty-two or a size eight and we could decide that.

The same goes for Christian. True, he is a little like Christian Grey, being cliché and offering Rowan oysters (does an aphrodisiac have to look like a bunch of slugs!?) but we understand his reasons for his actions and gain thoughtful insight into his mind. Maybe he is a little too perfect, being so rich and gorgeous, but look at Ben Barnes! (That is who I imagined him to look like.) Christian calls Rowan when she flees from his apartment to make sure she is okay and then when he finds out she is all right he calls her back the next day to punish her for running from him. Sound familiar?

This book is NOT Fifty Shades - it is well written, with an interesting plot and leaves you guessing what's going to happen next. A variety of BDSM practices are explained to the reader (ever heard of a vampire glove?) and Rowan's secret at the end only confirms our suspicious but is still fun to read. The sub-plot between a young lady called April and another dominant leaves us wanting both females to get what they want and I for one was not disappointed. I love this book and have displayed it on my bookshelf with pride. It explains how sub/dom relationships work extremely well and I enjoyed the read whilst learning new things to try out should I ever get a partner. Go buy it!

    1. Take me to the Dark Garden, now please

Reviewed: 25 September 2013 by MissChar, a Straight Going Steady Female

I really loved this book. For me it was just the right combination of kink and romance, plot and sex scenes to get me going and keep me turning the pages.

Move over Christian Grey, The Dark Garden brings a new Christian into town. Although the plot is not dissimilar to the 50 Shades series, I absolutely despised those and adore this! It's far less cringe worthy which I'm sure many people will appreciate, and it is a LOT hotter!

I actually liked the characters, and I loved that more than one character and relationship was followed. This really kept things interesting, and enabled there to be more juicy bits, which is an obvious bonus.

I recommend this book if you're looking for something a little racier than bog standard erotica, but it's not completely filthy so don't be afraid to dive into it!

I'm new to reading BDSM books, this is only my second. And I have to say this book didn't really do it for me.

That is not to say it's a bad book though. I think it's a very good book aimed at the right person. The writing is good and the characters are well rounded.

I would recommend it to any BDSM fan.
