The Envie Ripple Vibe comes in sleek black packaging with a cut-out on the front displaying the toy. The black box is up-to-date and the glossy packaging would make for a perfect gift for a loved one or friend. The minimalism almost gives the impression that this a luxury vibe - and it could be. The vibe itself sits in a spongy insert which holds it in place and stops it rattling about when in motion. I'm going to keep the box to store it in because of the material.

When I first removed it from the insert, my first impression was that the shaft was very lightweight and the finger loop base was considerably heavy compared to the shaft. I couldn't get two fingers through the loop and one digit nearly got stuck! However I popped in two AAA batteries (not supplied, I used Duracell) and off I went. Well, first I put the batteries in the wrong way. If you unscrew the cap and look in the bit with the spring, it shows you which end goes in first and which way. I missed this the first time round *blushes*. It might be worth mentioning that although this vibe is 100% waterproof, I can see a gap all the way round the base of the shaft. No matter how much I tried to screw it on tighter, the shaft just kept going around and around. So I shrugged and hopped in the bath anyway. After an hour's play I removed the vibe from underwater, dried it off and removed the batteries. Sprayed it with sex toy cleaner and then put new batteries in. I flicked on the conveniently placed button, holding my breath... And...

It worked! So the Ripple had passed the waterproof test. However I had only used it for clit stimulation and massage (it works really well for this and the round head can cover a decent amount of space, and lying the shaft over your body is lovely) so planned a day for internal pleasure and possibly pinpointing the G-spot. I wasn't disappointed. The Ripple Vibe slips in with ease and needs a little water-based lube (silicone will damage and degrade it) to make things more comfortable. I held the handle with my thumb on the button and it makes a satisfying 'click' when you change the pattern of the vibrations. It is very difficult to hit the button accidentally so you don't need to worry about that. I used the Ripple to warm up by using it on my clit and then slipped it down to the entrance of my vagina. The rounded end makes for easy insertion and the bulbs on the shaft help stimulate the vaginal nerves when inserted. Shallow insertion feels great as you can pop the first few bulbs in and out. Deeper penetration feels great though, and twisting or rotating it inside feels amazing. It isn't the most powerful vibrator I own but this makes it better as you can't overdo it by accidentally turning it up too high. However the vibrations are still something to enthuse about, because they are at a pleasant level and travel up the shaft really well. In spite of this, you don’t get those numb fingers which often occur in less expensive vibrators when you hold the handle for too long.

At the beginning of this review I mentioned that the Envie Ripple could pass as a luxury vibe - the packaging kick-starts the admiration of your new toy and the only thing that lets it down is the handle. The loop base is not needed, but it doesn’t get in the way either. The nicely rounded shape is perfect for grasping but the hole in the middle is not suitable for my fingers to go through - and I doubt most other women’s fingers would fit either. The texture of the product is lovely, firm and sturdy, and the silicone material balances this out by making the shaft smooth and delicious to run along the skin. If I had to make changes to it, I would make it rechargeable (inserting batteries feels like a crime now) and it would also put me at peace of mind of the 100% waterproof claim. However saying that it would probably only make it ‘splash proof’ rather than ‘waterproof’ and I do enjoy the latter more because I can take this bad boy in the bath for bubbles and orgasms! Despite the colour, I think of Envie as a lad because when deeply inserted and rotated/twisted he can feel heavenly. Perhaps it’s best left alone, as it is. The durability of this vibrator makes it a firm favourite in my toy box, and I wouldn’t doubt in recommending it to you. A wonderful vibe for clitoral stimulation or finding your g-spot, I would urge every woman to grab one before it’s gone!

The speeds vary but my favourite is the second, which is also the second most intense speed. When I'm nearly there I press the button to go up to the next speed - the highest one - and this always brings me over the edge. It is good to use with a small bullet vibe on your clit too and feels luxurious against your skin - silicone was a good choice as it balances out the rigidity of the toy as the toy itself doesn't bend at all. The finger loop at the bottom also has a line running along it on the very bottom of the toy which looks like a ripply sand dune. This lights up in time to each vibration that the Envie Ripple gives and it lights up red. I think it would have been a more stylish touch to have it light up pink, to match the shaft and box but it's a minor detail that I don't notice - unless I'm playing with the toy in the dark, in which case it's really easy to see. The vibrations don't really reach the finger-loop base so you won't get numb hands either. Also, the toy isn't too loud. I have a noisier vibrating egg!

The only thing bad about it I would have to say is that you have to give the vibe a good swoosh! towards the floor to remove the batteries. They are difficult - no - impossible to get out with your fingers like a Powerful Pocket Vibe but this is really minor. I love the toy and think with a few tweaks it could look like a luxury sex toy, but really I like it just the way it is now, so why change it? Envie have caught my attention and I shall keep a lookout for further vibes from them. I love this vibrator!
