Comparison with White Flip Hole

I've owned the original White Flip Hole for three years. Until the Red Flip Hole arrived the original was still the best all rounder. I won't repeat the basics as there are plenty of reviews of the White Flip Hole including my own modest contribution.

The only differences I can tell are

1: The colour

In my opinion the colour's a little too bright and more likely to attract unwanted attention. I'd have preferred something more neutral like dark blue, ideally. It's a very minor point though. They've already used up white, black and silver which limits their options.

2: The free introductory gift of the TENGAEgg Wavy:

Not bad as a freebie but not worth choosing a different Flip Hole for by itself.

3: The texture:

This new texture is definitely smoother with less obvious noticeable edges but it feels even better to me. There's a little less variety of sensations but still plenty. It's even harder to work out which features are giving which sensations than the original.

The new texture is noticeably less tight because the texture is less prominent but this means you can also use it for stimulation when only half erect. The original required a reasonably strong erection just to get started. The Red will probably be better for those who found the White too small (I'm average proportions). For some reason it felt like there was slightly more suction effect with the Red.

Like the White, the Red has different sensations depending on which way up you use it.

As far as I can tell, the obvious 'right' way for the White is when you can read 'Flip Hole' rather than 'TENGA' as the orb near the entrance is meant to massage the frenulum (I think). With the White the other way gets used for occasional variety only as it's slightly overstimulating in the wrong places.

The Red works well both ways up. Both feel great but different from each other. It's less obvious which is better with the Red. Using half rotated and twisting also works better with the Red.

Overall the Red feels slightly more like the the subtler slow building sensations of intercourse rather than oral sex. It's also less likely to to rub or irritate if using for a long session. It works better for thrusting into and is more versatile.

However if your preference is for strong nobbly ridgy textures and firm hand-job-like sensations you may be better off with the White or perhaps even the Black or Silver Flip Holes, judging from the reviews.

The Red is definitely a keeper and my new favourite. I suspect I'll be using both though perhaps the Red more often than the White (early days yet, though). If I could only keep one it would be the Red. I would say the Red is a better first Flip Hole than the White. I think you'll be very happy whichever Flip Hole you go with though. I may even investigate the Black and Silver yet... :)

I have never owned a male masturbator before, and my fiancee bought me this one for Valentine's Day. I had read the reviews on Lovehoney and so dropped several hints (well, she has toys, so why can't I?).

Upon first impressions, the TENGA does look quite large and imposing. I am only average size so did think it was maybe a bit big for me, but I was very wrong. The first time I tried it, I couldn't believe how good it felt. Obviously loads of lube is needed, but the sensations are very powerful. I find long slow strokes to be the best to start with to avoid the sensations from becoming a bit too much, and then building up speed to a very strong orgasm.

Of the three lube testers that come with the product, there was very little to choose between them, but my preference is for the "real", which is slightly more viscous and sticky. The testers don't last long, so I have now purchased a full size bottle from LH. I did try a normal lube (KY) but it isn't the same.

Cleaning the Flip Hole is simplicity itself, in a sink of warm water, and leave it to dry. The design is very good for this, though balancing the Flip Hole on the clip was a bit tricky until I figured out it was much easier if I squeezed the clip in slightly.

An excellent product that makes masturbation much more of an event, and feels so much better than a hand!

Different enough to be worthwhile

This is my second TENGA Flip Hole; my original White model has been well-used and the area between the silicone insert and the plastic sleeve is starting to look a bit mouldy. This seems to be a bit of an issue with the Flip Hole - even though you leave it out to dry for several hours after rinsing it out, clearly some moisture remains trapped between the sleeve and insert, resulting in a black mould developing over time. It doesn't affect the functioning at all, but it does look unsightly. I wonder if there is some antimicrobial cleaner that could be used that would not damage the silicone?

But on to the review. The basic construction and functions of the Red are identical to the other Flip Hole models - the folding 'book' style design and the three pressure buttons on each side. However the patterning on the inner sleeve is quite different on this model. Whereas the White has large nodules, ridges, and the wonderful ball at the end, the Red has more subtle textured ridging and somehow feels less enveloping. I'm struggling to think of an analogy for the ridging, but another reviewer mentioned the sensation as being like the rumble strips at the edge of the motorway, and bizarrely that does actually describe it pretty well!

The insert doesn't seem to grip around the sides as much as the original, which is a noticeable criticism; but I found the textures on each side were noticeably different, making it worthwhile to experiment with turning it different ways to see what it felt like. It also feels a little less intense than the original somehow, which meant I was able to last much longer. The range of sensations available seemed to be greater, ranging from small motions with pressure pads depressed, giving intense almost tickly sensations, to longer looser thrusts with no pressure pads used, which felt the mildest.

In terms of noise, it's still as squelchy as ever, particularly when playing with the buttons. Personally I don't mind, and my OH actually quite likes the sucking, squelchy sounds, but I can understand why some people might find it a bit off-putting.

If I had any criticism, it is only that there seems to be less sensations at the sides of the insert than in the original. However, the texture is different enough from the White to make it worthwhile and I certainly find that I can last a lot longer with this model than I can with the White.

Overall, it's not better or worse, just different. And what's wrong with a bit of variety?
