I went to the post office to pick up my new butterfly vibrator, and as always it was in discreet packaging, so no embarrassment from the counter staff! Had to show it to my best girl friend in the car though, as we were both excited to see how it looked. Opened it whilst stuck in traffic, and I admit we did get a few funny looks!

It's basically a jelly penis, with some nodules on the shaft, attached to a base that sits firmly against your outer labia and clitoris (which is adorable and in the shape of a butterfly), but don't let that description fool you. This beauty really carries the vibrations! The shaft is angled slightly at the end to hit the G-spot, and the nodules work to massage you into orgasmic bliss.

It comes with some straps that are made of elastic and fit around your the tops of each of your legs, and around the waist. Really easy to fit, and they have popper buttons for quick and easy removal afterwards. The straps are adjustable, and I had it fitted in no time at all. The straps helped to keep the wings pressed firmly against my labia, and added to the kink factor.

The battery pack has two switches, one powers the vibrations, and the other powers the shafts rotations, both with 5 different levels. It takes 3AA batteries (I used rechargeables) and after getting them set up (using lube on the shaft ofc), away I went. WOW was my first thought! The first vibrations were intense, and it was on the lowest setting. Every part of my lady garden was vibrating as well, and it felt amazing. The G-spot rotations really hit the spot too! Though in my experience, it felt better on the slowest rotation setting; the faster ones didn't do much for me.

It also has a little kinky tail which tickles your bum area, and just adds to the general effect of this toy. I was so pleased with it, one of my favourite purchases to date. Thank you Lovehoney.

Hasn't shaped up to butterflies of the past

Having been extremely pleased with the (shaft-less) Lovehoney own brand butterfly I found this one to be wanting.

The product comes with leg straps which are fairly simple to figure out. With lube, it's fairly easy to insert. It's quite a hard, sturdy shaft which I find uncomfortable personally.

The product is designed so you can manage the shaft turning and the intensity of the vibrations on the butterfly.

I like the clean look of the product but my issue lies with the reach of the butterfly. Once inserted the shaft forces the butterfly to sit and cup underneath you without flexibility (obviously) as you're attached to the joy stick! For me this made it difficult to angle the butterfly to sufficiently to tease me enough to come as my clit was higher up than I could get the butterfly to reach.

My other issue is that the vibrations, whilst good, were not as strong as my other butterfly which meant I had prolonged teasing but without an inevitable orgasm as it just couldn't push me over the edge. I then got butterfly envy (and EXTREMELY frustrated) and had to mount the girlfriend who was wearing the other butterfly. This was disappointing and left me frustrated.

Maybe a good product for some but I still need some convincing. I definitely intend to persevere with Lovehoney's butterfly on standby for immediate deployment!

Not my cup of tea

Bought this as I was keen to try a hands free experience, but I don't think this was for me. The shaft is hard plastic, which was a little uncomfortable even when lubed up, especially when rotating. The leg straps didn't quite hold down the bottom half of it, which meant it didn't penetrate as far as it could. This also meant the rotations affected it staying in place.

The vibrations were very strong, which was a bit much to start with but I got used to it. Like the shaft, it also needed quite a lot of lube to not rub. The hard plastic nub, intended for the clitoris, I found hugely uncomfortable, as it was too pointy and long. This meant any pressure on the butterfly (necessary to keep the shaft in place) was painful on the clitoris.

All in all, I think I'll be going back to classic, simple hand held devices.
