Worthwhile and not as scary as it looks

I am no stranger to anal play but have always done this solo. My ex refused to even consider anal play but my new partner loves all things ass, so in order to boost my confidence in anal play as a couple I wanted to try douching.
Lovehoney have a good selection of douches but I think this is the most attractive (if it's possible for a douche to be attractive!), and I was impressed at the quality when I took it out the package. It's not in any way plasticy or cheap feeling. The bulb is very comfortable to hold, with a kind of soft grip material. The whole kit did seem very big in real life, as is often the case with buying sex toys and kit online, and I don't think this would fit in most people's bedside drawer!
There are three components to this douche, one of them being an attachment for use with a showerhead. Unfortunately I only have a bath so have been unable to test this, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work as the other two elements (the nozzle and the bulb) were of excellent quality. When connecting the nozzle to the bulb, you have to push and clip the nozzle in a tiny bit before screwing the pieces together.
After browsing the Lovehoney forum for tips on douching, I cleaned the kit and filled the bulb with warm water. I had no trouble inserting the nozzle with a bit of lube, it's only the thickness of my index finger, but I did find that the length of the nozzle made it a little awkward to position the douche as prior to insertion you have to hold the bulb a fair bit away from your body.
Once inserted, you squeeze the bulb and I kept going till I felt I couldn't take any more water. I guess every body is different, but I just trusted my body and when it felt like enough, I stopped. I couldn't believe I'd inserted nearly all of the 9 inches the first time, it wasn't uncomfortable at all, so even if you've never had anal sex, I would say with some confidence that if you use lube and are relaxed, you will have no problem. At the end of the day, it will still work if you have only a couple of inches inserted and with four holes at the end of the nozzle, it feels like you're getting a good clean from all angles!
Now, there's no way to dress this up, you will be basically pissing out of your bum. It's a strange sensation, not unpleasant, and now that I have done it several times it is actually slightly enjoyable, certainly nothing to be scared of. It's not something I would want to do in front of my partner, or even with him in the next room, it's quite a crude experience, so find some quiet time for your first attempt so there's no embarrassment!
I don't know what the health and safety police would say about this, but I am tempted to try using this in the bath - I just wonder if it would be easier to use if I am not hovering over the toilet! Lovehoney - could you provide a link for tips on using a douche, not just the actual kit, but maybe the best positions to use it in, how often you can safely use it?
I repeated the inserting, squeezing and 'emptying' several times until I felt like I was clean. Once you're done, the nozzle is easy to detach from the bulb (it just unscrews) and easy to clean.
I think the main piece of advice I would give is prepare to have several test goes to get used to using it and the after effects. I certainly wouldn't recommend using it for the first time and then going in for anal. For sometime after my first use, I felt like I had slight abdominal cramps and wind - not very sexy! But once I got used to the process, I got better at doing it and there were less after effects. Also, have a towel handy, it's a little awkward co-ordinating using it over the toilet bowl, but again it's something I am getting the hang of and definitely not enough to put me off using it.
I have been incorporating this into my morning routine and it's given me a load of confidence. I'm no medical professional, but I guess if you have any bowel problems or feel any discomfort, you should stop using it and seek advice from your Doctor. Common sense I guess, but worth mentioning.
The Perfect Fit Ergo 2in1 Douche was surprisingly easy to use, gave me a lot more confidence in my body and I would highly recommend it if you're looking to feel clean prior to anal.
- Comfortable to use, excellent quality.
- The 9-inch nozzle was a little awkward to use at first!
- Bottom line
- An easy to use bit of kit, left me with the confidence to play.

Ergo 2 in 1 douche
Reviewed: 20 December 2012 by Errol Flan, a Straight Married Male
Thought I would try this new handheld design as the designers original shower based unit would not fit my UK shower.
Materials seem good, toxin free and cleaning and drying is simple. Bulb holds plenty water and the nozzle is flexible and comfortable upon insertion.
Firstly, in case you hadn't noticed. . . it is LONG! I have not yet perfected my technique but upon removal, if still holding the squeeze it will still pour out the nozzle. When planting on the ground it seems to flow out the non return valve at the base leaving a little puddle. Lastly when inserted and giving it a good squeeze, as the materials are pliable, it will leak out of the screw in section at the top of the bulb.
This of course could be my technique but it does mean mopping up water at a time when you are wanting to go onto other things! I prefer to hold the squeeze rather than let go of the bulb when withdrawing as otherwise, though backflow might well be reduced. It seems there is always a lot of water in the bulb and I do not want to risk withdrawing more.
It might be that you let go of the squeeze right at the last just when withdrawing the tip of the nozzle.
I am happy to persevere with the ergo safe in the knowledge that I can return the item as part of LH's excellent 365day guarantee! I got this from watching the tv feature on LH (well worth a watch).
In fact I purchased a toy from LH for £40 previously and did not rate it and just binned it. . . D'OH!
In summary give this item a go and be prepared to give it a chance initially, it's well made and body friendly.
- Quality materials and build.
- Hard to get used to.
- Bottom line
- Patience required to get max effect without too much clean up.

Expensive and useless
Reviewed: 24 March 2014 by egreen
I purchased this item from another retailer, under the impression that as it was expensive it would be of good quality.
From day one I had problems with water leaking from the screw-in joint (I see from another review that I am not the only one), with the result that there was water all over the bathroom floor.
The only way I could stop this was to screw it up really tight to get a good seal.
The final result was that the screw thread, which is also rubber, stripped and the neck dropped off! It lasted about three months and is now unusable.
- When it worked it was satisfactory and it had a good capacity.
- Neck over-long, awkward to use, and if inserted too far the flow is obstructed.
- Bottom line
- A very poor value and disappointing product which leaked water all over the floor.
