First of all I will explain my concerns on prices.. Most massage candles are this price, and I only say I don't like it as I am very poor. To be honest if you look at it from a naturals point of view, it is a good price, the tin is well made and it is great it contains hemp and soy if you are into natural products.

The smell is divine! The amount of times a day I just open it up and have a sniff is ridiculous! I can't even describe the scent, it's just so fresh and fruity! So delicious!!

The candle itself burns really nicely, I've not ever lost my wick and the wax melts at a consistent level.

As a massage oil, it is so sensual being dripped onto the skin, not at all painful. A few drips spread out very well to massage, I use much less of this than I would with a bottled massage oil.

Argh it's so beautiful! A real romantic treat!

Great massage candle

My husband bought the small version of this in a kit for our anniversary, and I loved it so much I purchased the bigger version.

The candle smells great, not too sweet or strong like some other candles I have purchased that the smell gets irratating after a while. This is great.

I could smell it all the next day in our bedroom which was fantastic. The massage oil in it is great, I loved it.

My husband used it to massage me and I loved every single minute of it, the oil is perfect tempeture for pouring on your partner, I'm sure I will be giving and receiving a lot more massages with this candle. Cant wait.

Feels fantastic

I purchased this after trying the candle in the Earthly Body Mini Romantic Gift Pack a while ago and really enjoying it. We tested some other smaller and cheaper candles but weren't happy, so decided to revert back to Earthly Body. We weren't disappointed!

First of all, being 192g it is huge and should last you a very long time, which is a plus point. At £13 it is a little on the high side but so are most of the other candles too, for some reason.

Just like the smaller Guavalava candle we had tried before, this has a lovely citrus smell that really fills the room, makes quite a nice atmosphere. It melts slowly, like others, and if you leave it for about 15/20 minutes you get a nice amount to give a warm and sensual massage. The oil is perfect, it spreads well and doesn't soak into the skin instantly. It feels very nice too, not greasy and it dries quite well, you can kiss and touch your OH afterwards without feeling sticky or like wax.

The little plastic spoon provided is perfect for drizzling the warm oil all over your partner, you get just the right amount on the body and you can then spread it and rub it in. Keep the spoon away from the flame though, or it will melt like mine has!

Overall, I'd say that the Earthly Body candles are the best we have tried and we will use them again! The Guavalava is a lovely scent and should appeal to everybody.

Smells and feels fantastic

While I myself don't care too much about massages myself my OH loves them and pretty much wants one daily.

We were going away so I bought a few of these massage candles and this one was probably one of the better ones.

My problem with most massage oils is that when you kiss your OH's body afterwards the taste of the oils would be disgusting thus ruining the mood for me. This however didn't taste bad.

The taste wasn't anything I'd go out of my way to taste and the waxiness of it means that it's not something I'd want often. But in comparison to others, if you get a slight taste it just tastes pleasant not revolting.

Overall, I'm sure we'll be buying more of these but I still find them a little expensive for a common purchase. Or I'm really cheap.

Sweet and Sensual

I have a number of the earthly body massage candles, and I have to say they are one of my favourite things bought from Lovehoney as they are so versatile and sensual.

My predominant aim in reviewing these candles is to give other buyers a greater idea of what they smell like, as that is what I most wanted to know prior to purchase! If this is what you're looking for, skip down to "Scent" and check out my reviews on the rest of the Earthly Body range.

First Thoughts:

These products come in beautiful tins, and are very fragrant. The lid is very useful, as I think these could attract dust if not covered. The initial melt of the candle can take a little while. I'd set one burning 15 minutes or so before you wish to use it unless you're using one of the minis, which tend to melt a little quicker.

Scent:

Guavalava is my favourite of the 4 candles that I own, and the one I have in the 192g size. It is sweet and very fruity - though may be a little too sweet for some. The smell is complex, predominantly peach and guava I would say but with citrus undertones, lime, mandarin and perhaps a hint of orange blossom. It is a very juicy scent, and I want to devour my other half when I smell it on him.

Using the Candles:

I found massages with these candles to be incredibly sexy and romantic, the heat and scent of them add a great deal more sensuality to our massages.

The temperature of the molten "wax" is just perfect - think the temperature of a really warm bath. It is soothing and really sensual. If your partner is worried about the temperature, get them to dab a fingertip into the pool of oil prior to massage so they can test the heat. If they're still worried you can either pour it into your hands first, or pour from a greater height. I would not let the casing of the candle come into contact with your partner's skin, as they are made of metal, and the edges could get very hot (this could be useful for those that are into pain play however).

The oils melt nicely into the skin, but don't do so too quickly, which I really like as it means you don't have to keep adding more "wax", interrupting the massage. They cool quite quickly, but with enough friction in your massage the oils heat up beautifully, and are great for working out deep knots in your shoulders.

These candles are very moisturising, but make sure to massage them in thoroughly, as sometimes if you've not done so they can leave the slight waxy sheen of coconut oil.

Conclusion:

In short, Guavalava is a deliciously juicy smelling candle, and I would recommend this product to any couple that want to add another dimension to their massages or would like to try out heat play.
