    1. Less Soothe more burn

Reviewed: 10 Jul 2012 by happyboys, a Going Steady Gay Male

As a couple we’ve ordered and tried a lot of different lubricants from Lovehoney, and eventually we've found that the best combination for us was Liquid Silk as our general purpose lube and Maximus for anal play. Although we think that these lubricants are fantastic, we were excited when Lovehoney sent us the Intimate Organics Soothe Antibacterial Anal Lubricant to try.

I like the idea of an organic lubricant and the use of natural ingredients, as I’m often concerned about what I’m putting on and into my body with other lubes. I was excited when this product arrived and really wanted to like it. Unfortunately when we actually used it however, we were disappointed by its performance.

The Soothe lube is clear in appearance and has quite a distinctive ‘herbal’ smell. When first applied, the lubricant appears to be quite thick, however we’ve found that it tends to dry out very quickly, and so repeated re-application was required. In one regular anal session we used about a quarter of the 120ml bottle, which would usually only take one or two pumps of our regular lube. The actual sensation of the lubricant was not all that pleasant for my partner either, as the ‘soothe’ element led him to feel a gentle burn and tingle. After a few tries we gave up on the lubricant and went back to our liquid silk and Maximus brands.

As a note the product also advises that it is safe to ingest, so although I usually wouldn’t associate anal lubricant with taste or ingestion, I decided to try it. Unfortunately once again I was let down by the product, which tastes very bitter and I would imagine could quite quickly kill any sexual mood.

Overall I really wanted to love this product, as I think that it is a good idea. However given all of its shortcomings compared to other anal lubricants on the market, unfortunately it won’t be staying on our bedside table. Perhaps other buyers will have better experiences with this product, as I believe lube choice can be very personal based on what you and your body agree with. In this case we didn’t make a good match.
