    1. Better as it goes on

Reviewed: 01 Aug 2011 by grizzlybear69, a Going Steady Straight Male

We purchased this looking to add a little bit of spice to the bedroom and to prolong our foreplay. This did both.

The game is a little bit slow to start with, and if you have only a small area to play in this could be tricky as some of the tasks need a bigger space than others. Also, some of the tasks require other material (e.g. warm honey) that you may not have to hand.

Cards are numbered 1 to 12, with 4 sets and a few wild cards so you can skip one or two if needs be. Once you've collected a few cards within the rules (or maybe not, as I suspected foul play) the game starts to get going. The activities mentioned on the cards really heat up as the game gets going. It's not like any other card game that we have purchased. A theme runs throughout the cards and it caters well both for him and her.

As the game reached its climax we were also very near to climax!

      Pros
Can build up to an exciting climax.
      Cons
      Slow to get going.
      Bottom line
Time-consuming but worth the effort, not a vanilla game.

    1. 10, 11, 12... f*** me

Reviewed: 24 Nov 2011 by Chimera, a Going Steady Straight Female

I've had this little box sitting in a cupboard for quite some while now, longing to play the game it contains. My boyfriend still hasn't mustered up the interest, even though we've owned this item for several months now. Perhaps that reflects a little on how curious (or not) he is to play it, or maybe it's just a lack of drive for pre-planned sex.

Because of this I can't really tell you how this game feels to play, or how amazing the end result is after all the building up to it (although I imagine it is pretty super!) but I can give you plenty of observations on it.

The deck is larger than a standard deck of cards, which I found nice. They're nice to hold in your hand and don't feel like lightweight bits of paper that could be crushed, creased, folded, sat on and lost etc. They're glossy and seem reasonably good quality. The price seems appropriate for the item.

The scenarios are split between four different topics: sex, romance, fetish and roleplay, with 12 cards for each section. You also get 4 wild cards, which can be used at any point bar card 12.

      Gameplay:

The concept of the game is to reach the number 12 and perform the sex act described on that card. So effectively there are four end games - one for each of the topics (sex, romance etc). However the focus is on the journey to get there, with the various masturbatory, oral, kissing, massaging and alternative activities described. You start by one of you playing a '1' card, then the next playing a '2', the next a '3' etc. If you don't have a card with the correct number on then you have to pick one up from the pile of leftover cards until one of you has the correctly numbered card to continue. Every time a card is played then the activity on the card is performed.

      Thoughts on gameplay:

      - Whilst there are "hundreds of combinations possible" I would worry that parts of the game would become repetitive. Many of the early cards relate to kissing, the middling cards to massaging or erotic play with toys and the later ones to masturbation and oral sex. I found when I played a 'test game' with myself for the purpose of this review that there was a lot of crossover between the topics of the cards - so your fella might get a lot of blowjobs for instance (like he's complaining…)!

      - All the roleplay cards are based around a 'doctor/patient' scenario. I found that a bit irritating to be honest, because the roleplay cards would have been fulfilling (in my opinion) with more variation. Some maid/master, school pupil/teacher, secretary/boss, highwayman/innocent, cop/robber cards would really have lifted the game in my opinion, and really added some fresh ideas and actions to the game.

      - This is clearly designed for a heterosexual couple. The cards do presume that there is a 'he' and a 'she' playing and they have the relevant genitals for those genders. Plus the images on the cards (1 image per topic as a background picture to the text) are of heterosexual pairings.

      Items the game requires:

      - massage is occasionally required so some massage oil might be advisable

      - 'an arousing object' (quote from the game)

      - lube

      - a vibrator

      - a feather (or anything to tickle with, I guess)

      - warm honey/melted candle wax

      - spanking is a possibility so if not your own hands, then paddles etc

      - something to tie a person up with

      - a blindfold

      My own suggestions:

I'd probably ensure there was some background music on, and perhaps ensure that each action has a time limit (occasionally one is stated, but generally it isn't.) A lot of the early cards ask for you to be naked and there are no stripping cards, so it's not necessary to wear a lot. (Again, I'd personally appreciate some 'stripping' commands) Light the candle (if that is what you wish to use) before the game starts - candle wax can take a while to melt and it'd probably disrupt gameplay if you had to wait for it do so, if you lit it when the card came up. Besides, candles add atmosphere!

I really like having this game as an option to play with. I just hope I get to experience it soon!

      Pros
      The format is enjoyable.
      Cons
The lack of different roleplay scenarios. The repetition.
      Bottom line
Doesn't rewrite the sex game book but probably worth a play.
