I brought two near-identical toys- the Lovehoney red Humdinger, and the Cal Exotics white Hummer, as of a couple of days ago, discontinued. And I wanted to compare them, because from the pictures they look identical - but they are actually far from it.

General shape:

The design has a special contoured scoop which lies against the whole clit area for full stimulation, and on the other side, a much smaller prudence for direct pinpoint stimulation. I tend to be more of an ‘area massager’, so it was this scoop design that I was really excited about.

Shape Comparison and Performance:

The Lovehoney Humdinger is obviously a copy of the earlier Hummer, copying the shape almost identically. The red Humdinger is marginally bigger, 1-2 mm longer and minutely thicker, pretty much like the Hummer has been scaled up by 1%, but they are basically identical in terms of shape. Of the protruding scoop heads, the white one is more concave, the inverted dome has slightly sharper edges - the red one has a shallower scoop, with wider, thicker ‘rims’. Practically, I found the white Hummer cupped me better, and delivered a better overall massage - I came in seconds. When using the red Humdinger, I ended up pushing the hard plastic into myself white badly because the ‘scoop’ was shallower. It took me AGES to climax - by which time I was badly tingly-sore due to the vibrations. However, just because the white one cupped me better, does NOT mean it would have done the same for you.

Both use twist bottom speed settings, of a full half rotation, and neither have a definitive resistance into the off position - they can easily be nudged on if left with the batteries in. The white Hummer’s twist bottom is much freer to move, and I found it very hard to accurately adjust the speed - because the thing is so damn sensitive - the barest ½ mm has is increasing or decreasing dramatically. The red LH brand has greater resistance to movement, making it easier to accurately adjust vibrations.

Power:

One of the first things I did was place two sets of identical batteries in both vibes, and turn them on. Holding them in my hands, I could not feel a discernible difference between the two - one wasn’t more powerful than the other, one wasn’t more jarring, either. They felt pretty equal, and both are very quiet. However, the red vibe tended to ‘dull’ a lot more when held onto firmly - the white one did not, it stayed just as powerful in contact to flesh. When using them, I did find that with new batteries, these vibes were actually too powerful, and with the problems of setting speed with the white Hummer, I found myself ringing painfully numb for just a couple of seconds after coming. Unfortunately, with how inadequate the red one was, I was ringing sore for quite a lot longer. I have to say that the white Hummer gave me a far more satisfying orgasm.

Appearance:

the red Humdinger has the now-standard matte smooth-coated-plastic finish, giving it a slightly velvety touch. In my opinion, I don’t like the colour as much - I find it too tomato-esque, a little angry flesh rather than romantic, and for some reason, I just can’t get on with it.

The white Hummer is smooth shiny plastic, in white - but it has a very slight pearlescence to it, which is very attractive. My own doesn’t show this off as well as it should do - because of how the plastic settled when it set (there is slight directionality to it). Otherwise, it is tooth-enamel white. I personally find the white far more attractive.

Overall:

I am very annoyed that Lovehoney is discontinuing the white Hummer - for me I found it the superior vibrator - but that is only for my specific body. They have made it far easier to choose between them now and I had been deliberating for several weeks before eventually buying both.

I personally trust the Lovehoney own-brands more, and I generally feel they have had more time and effort going into them to make them reliable and more pleasurable. That can be seen by the adjustments they have done to the protruding concave shape of this vibe. Even though this was for the worse in my case, it will probably fit other women better.

Overall, these are VERY cleverly designed vibes - the two of them, and I thoroughly advise you to buy this product if you are a fan of clit stimulation.
