We bought this as a couples toy. Unfortunately after some experimental positions and using it on myself and my partner it was a no go.

The spanker rubber is too tight, and like another reviewer pointed out, the vibrations aren't really up to much. When used as a couple's cock ring it is uncomfortable even in the recommended position because of the size and shape of it. If the male has a large piece I'd suggest finding something else. :-(

Functionally great idea, failed in execution

I was very interested in trying the Monkey Spanker Duo Vibrating Couples Sex Toy out when I first saw it on Lovehoney, and my OH liked the idea as she is fond of cock rings, so we figured this would be an interesting addition to our collection.

Upon first receiving the item, neither of us were too impressed with the quality; the plastic felt a tad cheap to touch, there were a few imperfections around the edges, and the rubber material that makes up the centre stimulator retained a sticky feel to it, even after multiple washes. Put simply, it was not too pleasant to touch, and I definitely feel that it could have benefited from some silicone perhaps, something that is not too much to expect of a toy with a £35+ price-tag.

I first tried using the toy on my own, which didn't go too well. I applied some lube and slid it over the head of my penis, and started gliding it up and down the shaft. Unfortunately, this did not do too much for me; it wasn't long before I was wishing for some direct stimulation to my head, something which wasn't possible as the Spanker was too tight, becoming uncomfortable quite quickly. I have about 6 inches of girth, and the toy was simply not up to this, so bear this in mind. Someone with a smaller girth might find this perfectly comfortable and pleasurable, but it was not so for me.

The bullet which can be inserted into the toy was powerful enough on its own, but once inserted into the Spanker, the vibrations simply did not travel far enough. Even at the highest setting, I received very little sensation which was above 'noticeable.' This deteriorated to 'nearly nothing' when we tried using it as a cock-ring during sex, which was the next test. As I have said, the OH is a big fan of cock-rings, as they guarantee her an orgasm during sex, which is only a good thing. I came first with this setup, something which never happens with our usual Tracey Cox cock-ring. Another annoyance was that the toy constantly revolved during sex, forcing us to constantly keep an eye on it, and even hold it in position, using up a hand which could have been doing many other useful things! At one or two points, the toy also pressed painfully against my crotch/stomach; there is a ridge where the bullet is inserted, and this led to some discomfort during.

The best use I can think of for this toy is as an addition to a blow job. As stimulation to the head was lacking with the toy, it was complimented nicely by my OH's mouth. But the consensus with this was that we preferred her to use her hand on my shaft, rather than the toy, effectively relegating the toy to ineffectualness. As well as being slightly awkward to use, it got in her way and left her more frustrated than anything else.

So unfortunately, the Monkey Spanker Duo Vibrating Couples Sex Toy simply did not live up to expectations, or the standard set by other, better value, couples sex toys. Poor quality and execution have let this one down, and we would both recommend giving this one a miss.
