We have lift off
Reviewed: 15 Oct 2012 by CheesecakeAndNP, an Engaged Straight Male
Having used the Bombshell Balm and Play O gel on my fiancee with amazing effect I decided it was time to give something similar a go for myself. The first time round my OH used a very small amount on me during foreplay. This provided some pleasing tingling feelings and once they had abated left me able to perform for longer than normal. This left me very pleased with my purchase.
A couple of weeks later we decided to give it another go and this time, as a little was good a bit more must be better, surely? To start with all went well, however things soon started to get a little too intense, leaving me feeling like I'd just dangled myself in a very cold freezer for 10 minutes! once things calmed down a little we moved on. My fiancee described this feeling as similar to having an icicle inside her. She couldn't, however, quite decide whether this was a good or bad thing!
All in all this is a good product, just tread carefully.
-
- Pros
- Great sensations and a little goes a long way.
- Cons
- A bit too intense if you don't use it sparingly.
- Bottom line
- A great way to give yourself a little boost.

Rocket Balm minty
Reviewed: 21 Dec 2010 by Alicia D'amore, an Engaged Straight Female
With the wonderful Flower Balm getting excellent reviews at Lovehoney from women, I can see why it was decided that making a similar thing for men would be worth a go too!
But unfortunately the product just doesn't really translate over the genders that well - one is designed to stimulate and another desensitise. It advertises itself as a "Climax control balm" yet provides a "tingle" that's surely intended to stimulate? The idea is that you rub the tingly paste over the head and shaft of the penis - well here's the first issue. It's a tiny tub, which works on a female as the clitoris is tiny, but it takes time to work plenty all over the penis and you'd get through this much quicker than the female version. It says apply it "prior" to intimacy and that you will feel a cooling sensation - which is factually correct. It does feel "minty" (and smells divine), I'm reliably informed by my bloke. In fact, he found it quite uncomfortable and distracting but he soldiered on for testing purposes. It was nicer the second time and he said it did make him feel more aware of his skin smoothing around his head which was pleasurable! An interesting sensation according to him. It was very easy to apply despite the solidity from the freezing weather.
You do need to make sure you get the right amount. My fella actually found that sing a little more made it less uncomfortable but then the weather may have had an impact – it was bitterly cold - so it's worth experimenting but keep a wet wipe to hand just in case you find it too tingly.
It's not designed for oral use, but it is good to hover your mouth around the penis and breathe warm air over it - the combination of heat and cooling is a nice one. It says it's okay for penetrative sex, though we've not tried that due to my sensitive skin. My partner thinks it'd be pleasurable for both of us if we could try it without me burning but that’s my issue and not the balm’s!
I'd recommend this balm as worth a go if it weren't for the fact that it's really expensive for what it is! The packaging is cheap looking, the tin is tiny and the balm costs £8! It’d be rather inoffensive packaging if it weren't for the bizarre logo of a penis on both the box and the tin, so it's certainly not very discreet. And the lid is just one that you slide on rather than a screw top so it easily pops off if you take it anywhere, which makes it unhygienic and annoying.
Overall, a bit expensive, a bit cheap-looking and a bit too tingly. As far as I can tell it’s the same as, or very similar, to the female version yet much more expensive... Okay there may be slight differences but they do the same thing - make you tingle!
-
- Pros
- The easy application, the smell.
- Cons
- It being advertised as climax control when it clearly isn't, cheap packaging, pricey.
- Bottom line
- Far from perfect but worth a go.

Not too sure
Reviewed: 16 May 2013 by Passionate M, a Single Straight Male
Bought this as part of a 5 for £20 offer, wasn't sure whether it would work but thought "hey, who doesn't want to last a little longer".
Very small tin, but small amounts of this seem to go a long way. Guess it works by giving you a tingling sensation to distract you from the sensation of friction.
I used a small amount over the frenulum and surrounding head and indeed it gave me a slight tingle. Made me last a little longer but overall did not make much of a change to the way sex felt.
If I am honest I would not pay full price for this balm and would focus more on improving sensation for her.
-
- Pros
- Does delay your ejaculation.
- Cons
- Loss of sensation of sex to some degree.
- Bottom line
- It was worth a try but wouldn't buy again unless I had timing issues.
