Peppermint Massage Oil
Reviewed: 08 Aug 2011 by geekboy
I have never bought any massage oil before so you could say that I had nothing to compare this product to.
Anyway, I think I will start with the objective aspects and then move onto what the product was actually like to use.
As always, the product was delivered next day. Everyone goes on about how good Lovehoney and its delivery partners are but it is worth emphasising that the delivery schedules really are very impressive. I have never dealt with another online company that delivers so quickly with the minimum of fuss.
The massage oil comes in a plastic container with a flip-top lid. There is 50ml of oil in the container.
The oil is slightly opaque with a slight green tint to it. I know many purchasers may not care much about the colour or transparency of the liquid as it does not effect the intended use of the product but I imagine some do like to know.
Next, viscosity. I always imagined that massage oil would be really thick but I was surprised when I shook the container to observe that the oil is very much like water in its consistency.
Smell: When you smell the oil from the top of the container it is a very light aroma. However, when you begin to use it and rub it on your hands the peppermint smell is released and it becomes much stronger. The smell is really pleasant (unless you don’t like peppermint, in which case you will not like to use this product) but not overpowering or too synthetic.
The oil itself is not as sticky as I would have imagined it to be. I would have thought that I would need to shower after a massage with this but it's actually quite soothing and helps you to get off to a nice relaxed sleep as the peppermint smell lingers in the rooms once you have finished with it for quite some time.
Myself and Mrs GB were pleasantly surprised at how far this container goes. I am certainly not trained in any massage techniques but by just doing the regular type of massage that all people seem to be capable of (if they are patient enough) I thought I would run out of oil, but when we had finished we found that the container was still three-quarters full. It is because of this that I would say this product is very good value for money.
Is it sexy? How can one type of massage oil be sexy and another not? Is all massage oil sexy? These are difficult questions. If I went to see a professional masseur I would expect him/her to use massage oil but I would certainly not expect the encounter to be ‘sexy’ but when using with your partner it certainly can be a sexy experience. I suppose it depends on the circumstances.
In summary, this massage oil is good value for money, smell nice, feels nice (however, as always this is dependant on the skills of the person doing the massaging) and is an all-round good product. I would would recommend it to others.
Good grief this is a rather long review; I could probably turn this into a thesis with a bit more waffling! Thanks for reading. Sorry it’s so long!
