Pretty good for a fake

I have always been quite enamoured of the idea of a romantic evening ending on a bed strewn with rose petals but the expense and practicalities have always stopped me from actually doing it (I imagine that squished rose is quite hard to wash out of the sheets!) Therefore I was very excited to see what my little box of fake petals would be like.

My first impressions were very good. I think that the packaging for this product is very attractive. The Lovehoney photo shows the outer sleeve which I think looks very classy, then from within this you pull out a pretty little cream box with cutouts through which you can see the petals. When I opened the box I found two neat little stacks of rose petals. I admit that some of the edges weren’t totally smooth due to the fabric they’re made of. However the colouring and shape are very nice and quite realistic. There is slight variation of the dye on the petals so some have a little more white than others or some are a little darker in places. They have a perfume as described and I found it to be quite faint but nice.

When I first unpeeled a small heap of petals and looked at them in bright daylight I wasn’t sure if they’d look real enough to be pretty. Once night had drawn in I artfully arranged a few on my bed and turned the lamp on and the main light off. Suddenly they looked quite lovely. I then lay on them to check how they feel against bare skin. They’re a bit too scratchy for my liking so would need to be swept out of the way before any long sessions! In the interests of science I also filled my sink with warm water and placed a few petals on it. They floated for a few seconds then started to sink to they might not be that practical for baths. The worst thing about these is probably having to pick them all back up to put them back in the box but I think that I’ll be letting my man do that!

All in all I think that this is quite a nice product and would be very suitable as a gift or as a treat to complete a romantic evening in.
