Flashback: You've just started your second year at university having met an amazing girl over the summer. The problem? You study at different ends of the country! What do you do? Get one of these.

At least, that's what happened to me. I now travel a lot as part of my job and I still find that a Fleshlight is the next best thing to sex when I'm away from my girlfriend.

What is it? The Fleshlight is a male masturbator. It comes in two parts: an outer case (with an adjustable end to control suction) and a textured insert that lives inside the case. Just run the insert under warm water for a few minutes, pop it in the case, lube it up and it feels remarkably similar to a real vagina. The great thing about them is that given one case, you can select various different inserts depending on your own needs and preferences.

So, what's it like? The first thing that you notice about the Fleshlight is that it's not small, it's not cheap and it doesn't look like a Flashlight. This is a well made bit of kit. If someone finds it, you're going to have a hard time convincing them that it's a gag gift or a novelty pencil holder. Someone has clearly gone to great efforts to design the unit and to turn a block of rubber and a plastic case into a superior male pleasure device.

Using the Fleshlight is very different to using your hand. While you can change the intensity and make the unit tight and hard, the sensations are invariably more subtle and more gentle than ordinary masturbation and very much more like actual sex. The Fleshlight doesn't exert a vice-like grip on your penis in a desperate effort to get you off but instead gently massages the penis. You find that your penis will become more sensitive and the sensations from the Fleshlight will become more intense with every stroke.

With the you and the Fleshlight well lubricated with your favorite water-based lube, it's time to begin. The entrance is pleasingly tight and once you get beyond the first couple of inches, you feel yourself swell up and fill the interior as the unit draws you inside. If you've lubricated the Fleshlight properly, this feels a little like getting a really good sloppy blow-job. On the upstroke, you'll feel every tiny ridge of the inner canal teasing the underside of the head of the penis, this is a wonderful feeling: tingly and erotic, even better than entry.

Next step? Enjoy! Keep pumping it up and down. If you want a more intense or a more subtle experience, adjust the cap at the end: this alters the firmness and intensity of the Fleshlight.

The sensations that the Wonder-Wave delivers are perfectly honed: they're always strong enough to be pleasurable and exciting, but never so strong that you get off in the blink of an eye. I've regularly used the Wonder-Wave for sessions lasting up to an hour and find that it just gets more and more enjoyable with every passing minute. Of course, if you don't want to last this long, you can always crank up the intensity and pump faster. However you do it, you'll invariably finish panting, out of breath and very, very satisfied.

When you're done, the insert and case will need a good clean. This is a bit tricky. I find that a good wash in warm soap and water works well but it can take a while to clean the interior of the insert. It would probably be wise to invest in a sex-toy cleaner.

Another downside is the noise: it's rather loud when in use (sounds a little like someone unblocking a drain). If you want privacy, I suggest using it in the shower (which is great if you want an easy clean up) or putting on some music.

Definitely worth it though: by far the closest thing to real sex and always leaves me very, very satisfied.

I have had the standard Pink Lady for ages. Often thought about trying a different insert and had this one in my Wish List. Getting 10% off for my birthday made the decision for me and I placed my order.

The Wonder Wave insert is clearly 'smaller' internally than the standard Pink Lady. The ridges give a definite more intense feel. Like the standard PL's younger sister?

Very pleased with it as a change or upgrade from the standard Pink Lady. Cannot say how it compares to the other variations, but this one certainly works! Recommended. Give it a go!

I recently purchased the Fleshlight Wonder Wave to use whilst I am serving away from home after my wife suggested it. I tried it for the first time and I must say I now realise what all the fuss is about.

The product actually feels as close to the real thing as I think we're going to get. Right after entering the Fleshlight I felt like I was actually making love to a woman.

If anyone is considering purchasing one then hesitate no more!
