I first came across pearl thongs when watching Sex and the City where Samantha was given one as a gift. At first I thought it looked rather beautiful in the show until she stumbled her way up several flights of stairs and not so elegantly having to take the garment off midway. Hence since then I have been a bit worried when it comes to trying out thongs with chains or pearls attached in with the intention to stimulate oneself.

I choose the Cottelli Secret Pearl thong for a few reasons. One, the pearl string doesn’t go all round to the back. Two, it is concealed - this is good as it can be worn easily with certain clothing without noticing too much. Three, it is a very good price compared to others I have seen.

It arrived very quickly and well packaged as always. The item itself came in a hard plastic box with the picture of the model on the front. I was slightly worried when taking the item out that it would catch on the hard plastic but it didn’t. The thong is made from very soft black lace and has an amazing amount of stretch in it. There are about 34 stimulating pearl beads on a thick piece of non-elasticised thread but with about one centimetre freedom for the pearls to slide up and down. There is a small piece of cotton lining under the bottom half of the beads. There are two white sewn in labels at the back that are very easy to remove.

When I put this on I found the fabric to be very soft and accommodating. The pearls just needed a little bit of persuasion to sit in the right place. Once resting against my flesh they were rather cool but quickly warmed. You are able to lightly see the sparkling white pearls through the lace, meaning that if your partner was to see you wear these knickers they may not completely notice at first that it is a pearl thong and when they do they will go wild.

When walking or making general movements the pearls move with a combination of rotating and sliding up and down. At first I was worried that the pearl would make a small clashing noise when knocking against each other, but the thong is completely silent. This is great for anyone who is shy of using hidden sex toys in public due to the noise; nobody should guess you are wearing this.

I haven’t yet experienced a clitoral orgasm through wearing this product, but it has stimulated me enough to be able to go straight into penetrative sex or use large toys without the hassle of foreplay.

My fears of it being uncomfortable have been changed as it is actually very comfortable, I even jumped up and down to check if it would cause any discomfort. I have worn this both before and after a complete bikini wax. The small amount of hair didn’t get caught between the pearls, though I am unable to comment how it would affect someone with a lot of pubic hair. When completely waxed it did create a greater sensation, I’m guessing being shaven would too.

I feel you could get away with putting this item through on a 30 wash only if you put it in a small washing bag first, I believe the reason it states hand wash only is because the pearls would snag on other garments and possible break if place within the machine outside any protective bag.

I bought these as a present for my girlfriend, whom is a little shy in public so won't use the phone activated vibrator thing I bought a while ago, so thought that this would be a little less intense.

From my point of view they're great. She's a lot happier to wear them. They look and (am told) feel very nice and comfortable and they get her excited throughout our evenings out.

Pretty pearls

I bought these to take on a dirty weekend with hubby after a friend told me about them.

They are very pretty to look at and the lace is very soft.

Once I adjusted the pearl to sit in the right place, we went for our meal. They are very comfortable to wear and gently rub in the right places.

Hubby definitely liked knowing I was wearing them and kept asking how it was feeling.

They are very well made and feel very good quality.
