A great mix and match kit

I bought the Mantric Multipulse kit while it was on sale, as a replacement for my older bullet which recently bit the dust. £10 for three bullets and a controller seemed like an absolute bargain, and even at full price I would still consider this kit good value for money.

The kit comes with three bullets and a controller unit, which looks a little bit like a TV remote. The controller is not very large - easily hidden in a handbag - and features LED lights which indicate which setting and strength the bullet is currently vibrating at. It's operated by four buttons, which are easy to work out how to use even without reading the manual. The bullets come in three different sizes - a standard size one, a long narrow one, and an extra large one.

The bullets and controller are made from ABS plastic, and are available in a few different colours; some of the colours look like they have a more matte, velvety finish, but the silver one I bought was smooth, which I actually prefer as it has less friction. It's not waterproof, but is quite easy to clean with a wet-wipe or some toy cleaner spray.

The kit does not come with batteries, but takes a standard set of 3 AAAs, so it's easy to find cheap batteries for this toy. You should get at least a couple of hours out of each set of batteries before they need to be replaced. You can also use rechargable batteries; aside from being better for the environment, these tend to last a bit longer and are more powerful than disposable batteries, too.

The controller has lots of different settings, including multiple speeds and a couple of pattern modes. There's some text saying "artificial intelligence" on the controller, but it's just a standard wired controller, no futuristic computers here. You can only use one bullet at a time with the controller as there's only one input socket, which is a shame, but all of the bullets are compatible with controllers that have the same sort of connection - they look a bit like 3.5mm headphone jacks. In theory you can use all three bullets in the kit at the same time, if you have enough controllers!

The bullets are quite noisy on the higher settings, and I found the vibrations to be a bit too shallow and buzzy (as I prefer deeper, rumbly vibes). For me, this was far more effective as a warm-up or teasing toy, to use during foreplay, than as the main event - I tried, but found that it's not quite strong enough to push me over the edge on its own.

One of the bullets - the largest one - broke apart after only a few uses, exposing the electronics inside. I suspect it was simply a faulty bullet, as the other two have been absolutely fine despite being used more frequently than the one that broke, but it did make me very wary of using the other bullets internally.

I've since swapped my Mantric Multipulse for something different, but would still recommend this kit to someone who's looking to add bullets to their toy box.
