    1. Decent, but not could be better

Reviewed: 07 July 2012 by Laveila, a Straight Single Female

A third erotic fiction book I got from LH. After being rather disappointed with 50 Shades of Grey, I was wondering what this book will be like, as the topic is similar. This one is more about the beginning of D/s relationship, as about half of the book is about her trying to figure out who is the man she is after and only the second part is about their relationship and the exploration of her sexuality for Laura.

To be completely honest, I do have bit mixed feelings about the book. It has some good things going for it, but there are some other things which I don’t enjoy so much.

The storyline is pretty simple. Young woman has fantasies about being punished and in power of a man. She keeps reading stories on the train on her daily journey to work. Until one day she receives first email with instructions on how she should dress, to see if she can follow orders. She starts to follow them and at the same time tries to catch the person who was sending them. I have to admit that some scenes seemed bit awkward, but this could be because I don’t like to have attention of people and I avoid any embarrassing moments in my life, and I could not imagine someone doing something like that. Finally she finds out who the mysterious man is and they start to go out together and Laura is introduced into a relationship with a master. He introduction is slow and there are no really heavy BDSM scenes, which make it more enjoyable to those, who are bit into BDSM, but not into anything too heavy - mainly following orders, spanking, but also putting her into cage - something which I am not personally into, but some people may enjoy it.

As for the sex scenes, there seem to be of various qualities, some are really nicely written, while others are not so good. I generally prefer bit more detailed sex scenes, but in this case at times I felt bit cheated by the short descriptions, but I did like others scenes.

The bit annoying thing is the ending. It basically ends in a middle of a sex scene, with only a hint of what will come next.

Personally, I found the book less enjoyable compared to Over The Knee, which I was reading just before that. The book seem to be less well written, and sort of did not fully hit what I am into. But I can imagine, that some people will find it enjoyable.

      Overall:

It is a decent book which is easy to read and has some good spanking and sex scenes and there is variety. It is not for people who are into more hardcore bondage, but may be worth a read for those who are just starting. But it will not become one of my top books.
